I booked this room through Hotels.com for a visiting African scholar for the night before his return flight. Online the amenities included breakfast. When I booked the scholar in, we were told that there was no breakfast included, and although we were at the address for University Inn and the clerk had the reservation confirmation, she said that we […] were at the "Comfort Inn" and it doesn't include breakfast, only the University Inn includes breakfast. This did not make sense, but I had no time to argue with her, although I did express my surprise and displeasure. I provided our visitor with money of my own for his breakfast. This was the worst motel I have ever stayed in. It is not for travelers. It is a welfare motel. There were people fighting outside and vagrants sleeping in the foyer asking us for rides and money. Had I not already prepaid hotels.com, I would have left and gone across the street to the Holiday Inn Express. The entire motel reeked of cigarette smoke, including my "non-smoking" room. The sheets were so worn that there were holes in them, the bedspread was stained, there was no internet, no coffee maker, no breakfast. There is no office in the building, and the halls are not kept up, as it is now managed by Comfort Inn next door, and is their low-cost, no amenities option. However, the rooms are both large and 100% satisfactory. So, the rooms are a real bargain!

Absolutely horrible...requested smoke free room paid in advance, the whole building reeked of cigarette smoke!!! did not feel safe. Broken beer bottles in the hall way. Night staff was not accommodating at all. made me feel like I was putting him out.... I had to pay more money on the 25th to stay in a decent room. 88.00 to be exact. The corridors were stinking from cigars. 2 Garbage collectors were at the side entrance collecting plastic bottles and soda cans. A lot of noise from bums true-out the night. I'd a horrible stay.

The rooms were as I expected for the low price. They were relatively clean, but smelled like cigarettes. It is more of a cheap family motel and it allows pets, so it was rather noisy with kids running around and dogs barking. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. The sheets and pillow cases were wrinkled and the hallways reeked of stale cigarette smoke. The stairways and hallways were not vacuumed or clean. There was no elevator. The University Suites doesn't have a front desk of it's own so you have to check in at […] the nearby Comfort Inn. That was confusing for a hotel guest. There was a hot tub and pool. The pool is not heated and the shower and sauna were out of service. The hot tub had caked on goop that I know to be skin flakes next to the stairs. That means people did clean that off but not all over the spa. I have been in hotels that charged less but were a lot cleaner. For the money it was what I needed but I had a return booking a month later that I have cancelled. Read more

The room was disgusting - and looked like a dive - mattresses looked like they belong in a dumpster - was not impressed - wouldnt even sleep under blankets. Will not stay there again . Only thing that was good was convenient location but there is plenty of other places conveniently located.

Older Hotel that needs some updating. For a basic night sleep at a good price it's not bad. The friendliness of the staff and the Outstanding Shuttle service from the Airport make up for the outdated rooms. Workout room could use some new equipment but overall not bad. Run by adjacent Comfort Inn, but apparently considered not worth maintaining at the level of a Comfort Inn. Hallway-dirty, room stuffy and smelled of mildew, no mattress pad on bed, no attempt to hide their dumpsters and related mess. Front desk not the friendliest or most helpful.

it was dark, raining, and the lighting in the drive and lack of directional help in the way of signage was scary and confusing! When Iwe finally found the desk to check in the person we spoke to was a bit condesending and on the verge of being rude. A smile would not have helped! Based on the 2 star rating we saw when booking the University Inn, we were pleasantly surprised - our expectations were exceeded, and it was not only very economical but also very convenient. next to Champlain College and the University of Vermont. No frills, but a decent place to stay when you visit Burlington on a busy weekend.

Competitive pricing in a hotel or motel is not a license to let it remain dirty. We don't need fancy decor or a mini bar, and can mostly adjust to not having certain conveniences for a better price, but comfort and cleanliness are absolutes, and the good price we paid was not an excuse for the lack of cleanliness we found at the University Inn. We […] give it a 2 and not a 1 because it was quiet, the heat worked nicely, and the shower was excellent. The sheets and towels were clean. Also, there was a convenient small refrigerator. However, when we checked in we found food particles on the night table and radiator and in the drawers. All the drawers had grainy dirt and I lived out of my suitcase. The rug had not been vacuumed by the week- day attendant. The weekend attendant did a much better job of cleaning, but still the inside of the drawers remained dirty even after I mentioned this problem. Our room was supposed to be a non-smoking room but it wreaked of smoke. No screens were on the windows, so we could not open them to refresh the air without letting in flies and mosquitoes. When we asked for another room because of the odor of smoke, none were available, but nothing was done about it with an air freshener. What we got was an empty apology. The hallway also wreaked of smoke. Dust covered the headboard and other furniture. The curtains and walls in some spots had some sort of dried, caked substance on them.
