Beautiful location at the north end of Bintan Island with very long stretches of soft sandy beach. Eleven restaurants within the resort provided a nice variety of dining options. The location of the hotel is great, unfortunately the conditions of my room was not good enough, there was mold in the showers and humidity can be appreciated easily everywhere. Also services are very expensive for example a lunch at the pool just with snacks and 4 sodas you pay around 150 dlls. It was bad fortune as well that it was raining season […] and there are no indoor activities, no sauna, no hot tubes, no steam room, only indoor play rooms for kids, not many options for adults in raining season. I would have prefered to pay this money in other luxury hotel, honestly. When it was new this place was definitely five-star. Rooms are spacious and well laid out. The overall resort is well designed, the beach is beautiful, the staff friendly But the cleaning crews need training, the black rims around the bathtub and smudges on the mirrors are a turn-off. Note that "ocean facing" does not mean "sea view", as there are […] trees, blocking the view of all but the 5th story The business idea of thie place seems to be to make it hard to leave the resort and get as much as possible incremental cash out of the guests. Food is more expensive than in Singapore: while breakfast is included, the lunch and dinner buffets are very expensive, and not quite 5 -star (selection is ok, but at those prices a US restaurant would have to offer a lot more). There are many activities (tours, jetski, snorkel, karaoke) etc, but everything costs extra. The construction of a private ferry jetty has ruined the local coral reefs, so snorkeling from the private beach is no longer attractive, need to pay for a snorkeling tour. Do not expect to get any impression of Indonesia from this place. The whole resort area including all other the resorts is like a Singapore colony. To see Indonesia you need to bite the bullet, pay the expensive taxi fee to get out of the resort, and out of the resort area. Overall: for a pure resort-only vacation, and if roughly doubling the daily room cost through meals and activities is no concern, then this could be good. Read more

I am not a golfer, so this is perhaps a great place if you love to play golf. I have been to Bintan, Indonesia before and would give this hotel the lowest mark of the other resorts on the island. First the price of meals and drinks are staggering - $10 for a drink, $15 for a sandwich with fries. At the beautiful beachside resturant, each of us ordered […] the "3 baked potatoes"meal because all the other meals were over $40 an entree. Besides the cost of food, I found the rest of the resort not in the same league as the others. For sheer beauty, I would pick Banyan Tree, but it isn't for kids. For a family holiday, I would pick Club Med or my budget preference - Nirwana Gardens. Nirawana Gardens has its own elephants that you can ride on (!), a small zoo, extensive walking paths, and reasonably priced food. Caution - don't stay in the budget cabins that are split into 2 rooms - think summer camp in New Hampshire - RUSTIC - unless that is your thing. Read more

The Bintan Lagoon is in the middle of nowhere and the beach is polluted by the overused jet skis and construction trash barge. Our room was covered in ants, the hotel prices are so over-inflated you don't want to buy anything...$30 for a tiny tube of sunblock, and the walls are so paperthin I don't think I slept one night while I was there. Overall we had a very enjoyable long weekend at the Bintan Lagoon Resort. Hotel is a bit dated. The entrance foyer is grand but rest of the building not quite up to same standard. Not a luxury destination more mid-range and reasonably good value for money. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals were reasonable but almost Singapore prices. […] Breakfast included in our package price was very good with wide range of Eurpoean and Asian food. Great food and ambience at the italian restaurant on the resort but the prices for Wine in all restaurants on the resort were outrageous. (80 sing dollars for jacob's creek!). If you drink then buy some duty-free at the ferry terminal or stock up on beer at the local shops before you get to the resort. I supposed that everything in Bintan is overpriced, since its basically an isolated extension of Singapore, and I generally don't recommend going there for more than a day, unless you are there to golf. Considering how cheap I'm sure things are in most places in Indonesia, there is no excuse for them charging what they do for everything, other than […] that you have no other options. Food was a ripoff, and forget about souvenirs. Even the sunscreen was $40. Glad I brought my own. And for $20 each way, they offered to taxi us down to a "shopping village" which was eerily deserted and filled with yet even more overpriced goods, and most places didn't even negotiate. It was literally built for people staying at the ripoff resorts to go and get ripped off again. I know it's a quick ferry ride from Singapore, but honestly, you can find flights for about what the ferry costs, and go to resort areas that maybe aren't as "Singapore clean" as Bintan, but have more local character at a much cheaper price. The on-resort massage at the leisure center is really pricey even by American standards. It was raining my entire second day so it was a good thing the leisure center had video games. Too bad the video games were a bit on the expensive side (hourly) but the attendant was cool and gave me extra time since no one else was there. As an outdoor resort, if it rains, you're stuck with not much to do. Hotel is nice however Bintan as a location is not great for foreign travellers. It might be a good weekend gateway for people living in Singapore. For Indians Goa is equally good or better to go to Phuket, Mauritius or Maldives. Am sure Bali would be much better than Bintan.

We stayed at this resort about 10 years ago and if anything its better than our previous visit with more choice of restaurants and activities. The bar and restaurant prices are very high - equal to downtown Singapore and the quality is not really up to that standard. Similarly a round of golf with hired clubs is pretty pricey. There is no link to the ferry operator on the hotel website and no way to know what its called. (Its called Mosaic Ferries apparently). As it turned out there was "bad weather" on the day we travelled and the small mosaic ferry was cancelled, so we were better off on the much bigger Bintan Resorts ferry. Enjoyable stay in nice rooms with comfortable beds. Free wifi in lobby area though you'd have to pay to get wifi beyond that. May need to remind service staff to let you know if they are to seat you in the smoking area at meal times as I found myself inhaling smoke after breakfast when I believed I was in a 'smoke-free' resort.

However, the counter for checking in need to wait for 15 minutes as well as check out. Food over there were extremely expensive. The new ferry terminal was right at the beach front of Bintan Lagoon Resort. It was hassle free to clear custom. Though we could just walk to the hotel lobby, the resort arrange to take us by a mini bus to the front lobby of the resort where there was a welcome dance awaiting for the guests. My girls love the "Hampster Ball" ie. kids get zip up in a […] giant transparent ball with air filled in and kid get to tumble inside the ball in the children pool area. They also love the Bungee bounce activities. My boys love the laser gun quest and were happy to go 2 rounds. We love the beach, the water was very clear. The hotel build about 20 years ago, never renovated (at least looks like never renovated). The rooms are not too bad, but hotel lobby, main restaurant, pools etc are looking quite old and old-fashioned. The prices of food (dinner, lunch, cocktails etc) are extremely expensive. And the main thing - why they build the ferry terminal in the center of the hotel, straight on the beach????? What for silly solution? They just totally spoiled the resort-atmosphere. They would better renew their lobby. Despite they have many restaurants the only one on the beach has outdoor area. In all others you have to sit inside the airconditioned rooms.
