"Exactly as described on the web"
We chose this hotel because of its location in Phillipsburg. It is right on the beach and has an arrangement with the "beach boys" for chairs and umbrellas. The beach is beautiful, with clean water and no waves. The hotel itself is very basic. It is clean, though they were in the process of renovating and there was construction noise and the smell of […] paint. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is on the main street and there is difficulty in parking for taxis which bring you into town. The breakfast was cheap and very good. the best pancakes we had in the Caribbean. They just put in cable t.v., though the connecting wires were loose and the signal kept going out. There are none of the amenities of usual Expedia hotels like a hairdryer or shampoo. You must climb up one floor from the street to the lobby which is difficult if you have heavy or many bags. Needless to say, no bell boy, but the staff helped. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A Gem in the Caribbean!"
The worst part of St. Lucia was leaving. My husband and I spent four days there and will never forget this gem in the Caribbean. St. Lucians are amazing people and really accomodating. A couple of things for your information: the drive from the airport is 1.5 hours, on the most windy roads you will every ride on, but is really worth it because you get […] to see most of the west coast - spectacular views! If you are lucky enough to get a driver like ours, he will be able to teach you so much about the country. The cost for the ride is approx $85 US dollars. The hotel at first glance is not that impressive, but once you see the beach, you fall in love. It really is beautiful. The sand is soft and the water is clean and inviting. the hotel is really well kept and you really are able to see every part of it - small enough, yet comfortable. For breakfast do not order the buffet, it will cost you approx $60 without tip - order a la carte - approx $25! We learned the hard way! You must eat in Spinnakers - the grilled fish is awesome! the goat cheese salad is delicious! Awesome food. Be sure to go for happy hour at 5:30. The beach vendors are great and not annoying at all. They actually made our stay even greater because they are willing to get you anything you desire - fresh coconuts, fruits, souveniers, etc.. I really can't say enough about this place. Enjoy your vacation - St. Lucia is amazing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Why Stay Anywhere Else?"
BGBR is right on the beach and has a beautiful pool as well. The staff is friendly and the grounds are immaculate. The location is excellent and as you can walk to plenty of restaurants, a brand new shopping mall and even the island's only casino, you don't need a car once you get there. Both our bedroom and bathroom were both very spacious and there […] was even an umbrella in the closet just in case (we didn't need it). BGBR was exactly what I wanted for our first trip to St. Lucia. I did drive around the island but didn't see any hotel that I liked better, so I won't bother looking for another hotel for our next trip to St. Lucia. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very impressed and will go back, the service can't be beat."
Didn't know what to expect since I've never been to St. Lucia, did not know anyonre who had been there. I read the reviews from other hotels, and was not too impressed. I needed one that actually wasbeach front on level ground, I and my 83 year old mother are both handicaped. Most hotels say they're on the beach however you take a bus or be driven down […] cliffs to get there. Their pictures make their beaches look like they are right in front on level ground, not the case with Bay Gardens Beach Resort, it's trulely on the beach. The room very clean, they kept it that way.Never had to asked for anything. Food at their 2 resturants on site can not be beat for the price & quality, which here in Maryland I could never get such a good meal (fresh, cooked to order, and willing to do anything you wish). The price seems high however, the menues are in EC's currency not US $, so don't be as shocked as I was when you receive the bill, the bill also shows US $ amount, then you will laugh, and see that it was extremely well priced for the quaility. However, if staying in the Castries area you definently have to use Castries airport, it's2 hrs from the south side airport, 27 miles away, through hills&curves like you have never experienced before. The only bad part American Airlines which I bought through Expedia, they changed my departing flight 2 weeks before my trip, and I lost a full day on the island, and had to spend it waiting 8 hours in San Juan airport, and AA did not care. "awesome location, beautiful beach and friendly people!"
This was an incredible trip! The Bay Gardens Beach Resort is on a beautiful beach. The grounds are pretty but small enough to feel intimate. The rooms are good, large bathroom. It's close enough to walk into town (10-15 mins) for many dining options. (Big Chef was one of our favorites). The people at the hotel go out of their way to be friendly at this […] hotel, amazing. happy hour every night at 5:30. "No stress St. Lucia"
Bay Gardens Beach Resort is an upscale, yet affordable fantastic getaway. No elevators for rooms. Ask for 1st floor if it makes a difference. One step up. Room, pool, restaurant, beach are two minute walk from each other. Great food and not expensive. Order off the menu if you don't see it. Service is whatever you need. 1/1/12 brings optional all-inclusive […] w/liquor ($110/day). Great restaurants close by(Rodney Bay) are worth the effort.(Big Chef, The Edge, Buzz, Charthouse) Find a taxi to take you to the mud baths and tour the island. Hotel prices are higher. "Perfect for folks like us!"
St. Lucia is the most beautiful island this side of Hawaii. We traveled there first for my work (three days in Castries), then three days of pure vacation at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort. It's on the northern tip of the island, so rather far (1.5 hours) and expensive ($80 or more taxi) from the main airport Hewanorra, which is at the southern tip; much […] closer to Vigie (George Charles) airport in Castries, but which accommodates only small planes. We are not folks who stay at the extremely pricey, all-inclusive hotels. The Bay Gardens was a terrific bargain (our stay in September was a little out of season), with immaculate rooms, wonderful beach right outside the door, a nice pool (though the ocean was so inviting, we never went into it). The restaurant was quite good, and reasonably priced. If you want to venture down the road, within walking distance there are a fair number of other restaurants and hotels; we never bothered - we ate at the Bay Gardens the three nights we were there. Especially if you don't have a car, the ability to walk to the village (15 minutes) is great, since you will find a large, modern supermarket not to mention other restaurants. Did I mention that the staff was uniformly friendly and helpful? They certainly were. My wife and I would certainly return, though air and land time will consumer the better part of the day. "Lovely beach and setting"
Position couldnt be better, lovely beach overlooking Pigeon Island. Small hotel - less than 100 rooms - meant beach and facilities were never crowded. Entertainment finished before 10pm so minimal disturbance. Excellent value bar/restaurant just along the beach open all day. If you want to see the Pitons/volcano/botanical gardens probably better to […] take a guided trip rather than drive yourself. Only downside is long trip (1hr 40) to and from airport. "Hotel in great location"
This hotel was right on the beach, had a good pool and was only 10 minutes walk into the centre where all the shops were. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. We complained twice that our shower was hardly ever even warm and most times it only trickled. They smiled sympathetically and shrugged, it seems that there was nothing to be done. […] They said they'd get the maintenance man to take a look but, if this was done, it made no difference. We only had one breakfast and one dinner in the restaurant but thereafter we found better restaurants close by that provided better food much cheaper. "Fantastic location and price but awful beds"
Hotel is in an excellent location in Rodney Bay. Rooms sizes are good but the room we stayed in (414) had the most uncomfortable beds we'd ever slept in. Every day I woke with back ache! There were a few other niggles that management should really sort out - cracked sink, no toothbrush mug, a safe that had to be fixed twice and no thermostat on the […] shower (so you are suddenly blasted with cold water mid-shower). Otherwise it was a good place for the price. The hotel has a beach bar and a restaurant. The beach bar (High Tide) is good for sun downers but the lunch I had one day (chicken Caesar salad) wasn't great. Trios, the on site restaurant, should be avoided at all cost. It is expensive, has no atmosphere and the food was horrible. The tables over look a car park or the road (a bit of a shame for a beach resort hotel) and the monkfish risotto was utterly dreadful (risotto was dry and monkfish was watery) and the BBQ ribs were smothered in BBQ sauce not cooked on a BBQ . All the tourist restaurants in the area are expensive but the best we ate at was Jacques which is over the road (on left) from this hotel (lovely waterfront location). Otherwise a very cheap BBQ dinner with the locals at the Hairy Clam (follow signs for Pizza Pizza) is highly recommended. All in all a great holiday at a fabulous beach - just wish the beds were more comfortable. Tip - taxis and trips are very expensive. If you don't have transfers included think about booking a car. We spent 4 very enjoyable nights at the hotel which is ideally situated right on the beach. We had a beach front room and almost fell out of the door onto the beach and the sea. "Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada"
There was 4 of us on our trip. There was a mix up with our rooms, but the hotel staff was great in giving us options for new rooms. The hotel was full from what we were told, but you would never know it, it was quite quiet. It was mostly couples and families. We choose to have a kitchnette and pick up our own groceries up the road from the 2 grocery […] stores. There was great restaurants to choose from along Rodney Bay. This hotel is right on the beach with access to watersports. We did choose to eat at Trios at the hotel, this was by far the restaurant we enjoyed least. It was expensive, with small portions and the service was VERY slow. We also choose to take the ferry over to Martinique, this is not for everyone. It was $150 US per person and about a 2 hour catamaran ride. It was a beautiful day but once you were out on the open water it was so rough that everyone was getting sick all the way there and back. If we had known that we may not have choosen to do that activity. Overall we quite enjoyed our stay, St.Lucia was expensive, the hotel was great, we got a great deal on it and we would recommend it to anyone that was going. It is located at the end of Rodney Bay and this is a tourist area. If you are looking for more of a local experience you may want to stay off the beaten track. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great place to stay."
Great hotel, well located with excellent beach. Service from staff was pleasant and efficient throughout our stay. Very few negatives - only issue was the absence of adequate areas of shade around the pool and enough sun loungers. "Bay Gardens Beach Resort - a hotel to relax"
It is a very beautiful hotel at the beach. The rooms / suites are located in a number of small, 3-story buildings. Our beachfront room was very spacious with a balcony and a beautiful view of the bay and the beach (ground floor has garden view). Very friendly and helpful frontdesk that arranged an island tour with a known taxi driver. The location of […] the hotel at the end of a headland is somewhat distant from the center of the village but there is an hourly shuttle service to two related hotels located in/near the center. The staff at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort were outstanding! They went above and beyond to ensure all our needs were met and that we were familiar with the resort and the Island. Also the resort […] was by far one of the best location wise. Not only did it have it's own beach, but it was close to restaurants and the city center. Also it was only a short walk to catch the city bus into Castries. The only downside was the wifi was not available in the rooms. One had to be closer to the reception or pool areas to get a signal. Once again we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend this hotel. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and as i had travelled with my partially disabled Mother the staff were more than helpful in assisting to her needs. The breakfast was lovely and ensured that every member of my family came back to the UK a couple of pounds heavier.
"Great Location and Staff... Catering could be better though..."
09/16/14 Steve B The Hague, The Netherlands
We selected Bay Gardens Beach Resort as the 'base' for our wedding in St Lucia. We had travelled the year before to research the best place to host 50+ guests who would be travelling with us. Bay Gardens ticked many boxes for the right reasons - the location is superb (just at the end of Rodney Bay and easily walking distance to the mall and all restaurants and bars), right on the beach, and very nice and spacious rooms. The staff at Bay Gardens are amazing - from the front desk, to the barstaff, waiting staff, cleaners, everything. The accomodation itself was excellent - very clean, very spacious, and perfect for a two week stay. All suites had an interconnecting room if a second bedroom was required, making it perfect for the guests with children. By the time all of our guests arrived, we had 24 rooms in total, and the hotel felt like a big party zone - the staff really did their utmost to make everything go smoothly - the arrivals, check in process - all went very well. Cheryl (assistant manager) worked hard to make us feel as relaxed as we could (given we were there to get married in St Lucia). The only 'comment' I could make was the a-la-carte catering. Whilst the buffet breakfasts were very good, anything being ordered seemed to take a long time and often came out either under or over cooked. On several occasions our guests complained about this - at one point on a saturday evening, with only 3 tables in the restaurant taken, we waited over an hour for some very simple food - and when it finally arrived the potato had was stone cold, the steak well overcooked and the atmosphere for a family dinner ruined. However, when the head chef found out the next day, to his absolute credit, he asked us back the following evening and made sure a full table of the most perfect lobster, steak and side dishes was prepared - so evident that the staff do take the well being of their guests seriously. Its just a shame that we had to complain before it was recognised that their catering needs a general improvement. Wifi was provided free of charge across the entire resort, although it was 50/50 whether or not it worked at any given time. On the basis of the hotel, the staff, the location and the atmosphere - I would definitely recommend people to stay here.

My wife and I chose this resort for a 2-week vacation following reviews we had read on Trip Advisor, and we weren't disappointed. We were warned that booking it through Interval we could only have a pool view rather than a sea view, but what we were given actually had both. However, having lodged a request with receptionist Nal, a brilliant ambassador for the hotel by the way who went out of her way to help us, we were duly moved when a room became available to having just a sea view, and what a treat that was. In fact, when initially moving in to the first room, we did notice that things were a little sub-standard in terms of cleanliness but by bringing it to the attention of Nal, everyone, including the manager and duty manager were immediately on the case. Agreed, while the room was not in a bad state at all and was perhaps just a little below what one would expect, the fact that everyone jumped to immediate attention was really impressive. As we were boarding only, we hardly used the restaurant, not even breakfast. On our first morning there, we were up bright and early due to jet lag and after a long walk on the beautiful beach, went in for breakfast. Although there were hardly any other customers, it took an absolute age to be served - 40 minutes to be precise - and when my wife's eggs Benedict was served, it was stone cold. Naturally they were sent back and duly appeared some time later suitably hot, but it did put us off having further breakfasts there. I am sure, though, that this was an aberration. There was a small fitness room, which I had every intention of using but never did, while the hotel had free use of the two Hobies and pedalos, which I did use. Overall, we had a superb experience. The staff - all of them, but principally Nal on the reception along with her colleagues Olive and Kevin and security guards Angela and Trenton - were excellent. I would recommend this resort to anyone.

My husband and I spent our anniversary at this resort in August this year. The hotel gave us a special treat; Champaign in our suite and fresh cut fruit on the fridge. Our daughters made arrangements for a special dinner at the restaurant; it was wonderful to see the sun set while we ate a scrumptious meal. We had such a wonderful time we came back for a second visit in September. the rooms were quiet; very clean, and the staff made it worth it all.

Bay Gardens Beach Resort great, would return. Staff great especially Vaugn who does a great service. Breakfast ok but have had a lot better. Wound not go all inc as there are some fantastic restaurants close by and a lot cheaper than hotel. You have to get used to the looky looky men on the beach but once you have they are ok. Overall good experience.
"Try another place first"
Far too many repair issues and food was not very good at their on premises restaurant The room had serve real repair issues from numerous lights that didn't work to the air conditioner being extremely loud and repairs could not be done unless you waited in your room Who want to travel to an island resort and sit in their room waiting for the repair man? This occurred 5 x during our stay. Far too often in my opinion!

Before I got to the hotel, I already felt really welcomed. I called in to say I would be arriving late and Olive was so bubbly and friendly, I felt like she was an old friend from way back. My friend later asked me how I knew her as he couldn't believe we had never met. When I arrived she was so welcoming and warm. I knew I had chosen the right hotel. I felt so at home. When I got to the dining room , however, that was a very different experience. The staff there was mainly subdued and two of them were almost hostile. Friday night the lady at the cashier was so hostile, you would have thought I stole something from her. The lady by the icecream was equally hostile and she spoke so soft you couldn't hear her. When I asked her to repeat she appeared annoyed and still repeated in such a low tone , I just gave her a large bill and hoped it would cover the cost. They absolutely need training. Some of them should never be in the hotel industry. This is a service industry, you expect service with a smile. When you say good morning, they barely answer you. The property is great but the majority of the employees aren't doing it any good. Hope some improvement can be made before my next trip as I really like the property.

We stayed at the hotel for 1 night since we have chartered a sailboat. We paid $260 for a double room (2 adults and 2 kids) w/out breakfast. We paid $100 for breakfast that I would think twice about paying $40 under normal circumstances. Overall, it is a 3 star hotel charging 5 star prices in low season. Nice location right on the beach and that's about it.

Room are great. Staff friendly. DVD player was not working, we were promised that it would be repaired but this did not happen. The kitchen staff are a credit to Bay Gardens Beach Resorts. The resort is rather small but with lots of accommodation. The cleaner we had was excellent. The air-con was fantastic. I loved my room. Free wifi which is fantastic. The accommodations with kitchens looks great. I would having given 5* if DVD had been sorted.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with great service and this continued throughout the entire trip. It was definitely a great experience, rather than just a stay. The room was nice, the employees were beyond pleasant, and the food was delicious! Whenever we stay in St. Lucia, we will definitely return to this lovely beach resort as our choice of accommodation.
