"An airline employee's view point"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
My neighbors were staying a week in their time share. I found a better rate on Hotels.com than my corporate web site. I only stayed two nights but found it to be very enjoyable. The grounds were perfect. I had an ocean front room. I did not hear any noise at night. I am considering bringing my family here some time. I know it might be hard to understand but it can be both a family vacation and also a romantic get away

"I would do it again"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 30, 2012
Short walk to town and shops -boardwalk that beats Atlantice City ...not even close....staff was great and communication was easy, someone who spoke english was always available. Ocean 2 minutes from hotel and roof top pool with ocean view just spectacular...

They need to work on the Wireless Internet system. I stay here often and the signal strength in the rooms is very spotty.

"Grand Mayan Resort"
The suites were nice..more square footage than necessary. View was unfortunate....looking out on construction site even though we asked for ocean view. Makes a BIG difference here. Also, we were awakened each morning by construction work (even on Sunday)....got us up and out early. I read the reviews beforehand warning us about the hotel room pillows....they […] are definitely like slabs of cement. I brought my own down pillow (stuffed it into my husband's suitcase) and I was the envy of my family! We all wished there were more options for breakfast. A $20 buffet each morning adds up and my family does not eat all that food....all we wanted was a bowl of cereal, coffee, OJ. I noticed a great deal of food was being sent to the trash....what a waste!!! If we had been there longer, we would have gone somewhere to buy breakfast groceries and eaten in our room. Pools are great! We spent a great deal of time on the lazy river. Wave pool and water slide are great fun. We are ocean lovers but we prefer Caribbean blue waters over the Pacific...muddy looking here and coarse sand. One plus, there many beach loungers for reading with thatched covers to get out of the sun and away from the guy with the microphone at one of the pools!! Staff was very friendly at all levels of service at the hotel. Read more

The lobby is spectacular when you enter, then you go to the front desk. Thought I was in Vegas! Most of the restaurants at the resort were very good, Tramonto, Havana Moon, and especially Samba by the pools. The pool bars and the main lobby bar were excellent. We had the best service from the servers at the bars. the grounds were well kept and the pools […] were awesome. My grandson especially enjoyed the lazy river ride on inner tubes. Read more
Hotel is nice but lacks of a rich atmosphere. Flowers were placed only on the weekend. They do not offer rooms with a view unless you are willing to attend their time share breakfast. Seems unfair as you are paying to enjoy. They force you to wear a bracelet which is not comfortable. The rest of it is nice the pools are nice and kids do enjoy it.
"Grand Mayan Beware"
This hotel, while beatiful will nickel and dime you to death. Everything is "extra" - including the gym. The rate of exchange they use from pesos to dollars is way off (in their favor) and they are extremely rigid and unable to yield to customer's requests. Also, they charged me extra room tax when I checked out.
