Me and my wife stayed here on our way to gulf shores traveling from WI. The front desk staff was very friendly. The location of this hotel is conveniently located right off of Highway 57. The king suite was well laid out. A door between the bedroom and living area -- which is rare in our traveling experience -- allowed for sleeping in one room and reading/tv in another without bothering the other person.

We selected this hotel because it allowed pets and had wi-fi service. Unfortunately while we were there the wi-fi was not working and was out the entire time we were there. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable, and there was a microwave and refrigerator in the room. I liked that they had "normal" toiletries" (pantene shampoo and vaseline intensive […] care lotion) it wasn't anything fancy with odd smells. It was very quiet. The breakfast in the morning was unbelieveable. It was stocked with everything you could possibly want to eat at breakfast including waffles, breakfast sandwiches, fruit and fully-cooked oatmeal with brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins available to put on it. This hotel was very clean. It was also quiet which was great for us. For an extra charge our dog got to stay in the room with us. It was a great stop with our toddler on the cross country trip (Michigan to Louisiana)

Hotel still has a new smell, so it's not very old. The hotel was very clean. We stayed in a room with a King Bed, and we had lot's of room. The breakfast bar had a great selection. Great hotel room for the price. Lot's of things to do in the area, lots of resturants and shopping across the street from the hotel.

Beds are comfortable, with feather pillows. So nice not to have rock hard pillows to sleep on! The breakfast options included both cold and hot entrees and a nice selection. We stayed here over Easter weekend. We have family that lives in this town and didn't have a big enough home for all the family. The hotel was really nice. I expected this hotel to be comparable to the Hampton Inn that I stayed in the night before in a different city, but I was dissapointed. The bed was too soft and not very comfortable, the room temp was hard to regulate, the towels were thin and scratchy and the breakfast was mediocre at best.

This Fairfield Inn was one of the nicer hotels we've stayed in. In the king-size bedroom, the layout of the room was very well planned and aesthetially pleasing. It had a sitting area with workspace that felt almost like another room due to the design of the support structures in the room, so you didn't feel like you were in a bedroom. With the recent news of bedbugs, I always pull up the sheet and mattress pads on at least two corners, and found nothing but a fresh clean mattress. As others have posted, the breakfast was the best continental breakfast buffet ever! The breakfast area was very pleasant. It was also very spacious and accommodated alot of people, so you didn't feel cramped or fear there would be nowhere to sit with your food. There was even a fireplace! It offerrd the widest selection of food items, both hot and cold, of any hotel we've ever been to... and the food was well-maintained! Our only complaint was the traffic noise from the freeway. The building sits close to I-70 and there was an ongoing roar of trucks passing even at 2 am. It took a little while to acclimate and fall asleep, although my husband had no problem since he drove all night to get there! Read more

This was one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at in this price range. I was very pleasantly surprised by the comfort, cleanliness, and convenience of the accommodations. The only negative thing I can think of is that the pool was the tiniest I've ever seen in a hotel. We got bad directions from google, so make sure you double check your directions. Once we actually got to the hotel, I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel. I travel I57 through Illinois several times a year and usually need to spend a night somewhere around the middle of the state. I usually have my small dog with me which complicates things. I've tried a lot of the hotels through the region and the Fairfax in Effingham has become my favorite. It is clean, well furnished and comfortable. One thing I do […] find fault with is its WiFi. The first time I stayed there I couldn't connect at all that night and the staff was just unable and uninterested in helping me. On this trip, I didn't even see any mention of WiFi, just an ethernet cable on the desk which certainly gave me fast and reliable service, but doesn't meet the type of service I expect for the price and reputation the Fairfax strives to obtain. Room was nice, sheets and pillow cases left some to be desired, very thin and should be replaced. Evening staff was neither friendly nor very helpful. Morning staff was great. It's a clean, nearly new, pet friendly facility and overall was okay. We'd stay there again.

I had looked at a few hotels on line before deciding to book with yours and actually was thinking the price of the room would be higher. Especially after seeing the hotel and quality of the room. The hotel was right off the interstate. We missed the exit the first time because it wasn't listed on the 'lodging' sign on the highway. It's clean and close to several restaurants. There was some highway noise but not too bad.
