"Good food around the hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
They were very friendly and close to everthing, walked all weekend, loved it

Loved it, like a home away from home.
"The Best Hotel on Ocean Beach"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
This might be the nicest hotel based right on the ocean at Ocean Beach. The staff was very helpful, the room immaculate, and the location second to none. I've stayed at a number of hotels in the area, but I won't stay anywhere but here in the future. You can't go wrong with an ocean front suite!
"Good Price, Good Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Was hesitant at first but went ahead and booked here. Glad I did! The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Beds were okay and room was clean. Will plan on staying here again.
"Fantastic service. Attention to detail"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Ashley made my daughter birthday by leaving milk and cookies. Thank you. I was impressed with the changes they made to the feedback they previously received. Shows they care and listening to their customers. Thank you staff

Escondido's agricultural roots thrive in the city's wineries. East of town, important research takes place amid the safari setting at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. There, researchers work to save endangered animals, such as giant pandas, cheetahs, and rhinos. Casinos line the road that leads to the Palomar Observatory. Open to the public, its centerpiece is the 200-inch Hale telescope.

"good for the price"
Rather a mixed clientele, but we enjoyed the hot tub and the breakfast was better than just a danish. There was toast, cereal, muffins, danish, coffee, tea and juice. Suited our needs well.
"Convenient with basic necessities"
Inexpensive and has what you need without any frills.
"Econolodge in Escondido California"
The room stunk. The toilet was wobbly, doesnt anybody check that the fixtures are functioning properly? The room service never came to clean our room. The refrigerator in the room still had left overs of the previous occupants. Very disappointed with my choice.
"Hotel in Escondido convenient location to freeway"
Hotel was very reasonable in price and was more comfortable then rating indicated. Room was very clean for older hotel and I would book it again.

"Econo lodge - you get what you pay for"
We looked for the cheapest thing closest to the San Diego Safari Park we could find and this is what came up. It was clean, and the guy at the front desk was friendly. When we got there, the room assigned to us had not been cleaned, but we were quickly given a room that was clean. The beds were very hard, so my family did not sleep well, but we expected […] that. My kids loved the breakfast in the lobby (Muffins, bread, cereal and whatnot) and as long as the kids (ages 2 and 3) were happy, so was I. All in all, we would go there again if we were in the area. "Quaint Quiet Hotel"
This is an older property that hasn't had much refirbishment done. The fixtures and tv's are older and show some wear, but the place is very quiet and well run with a nice restaurant next door.
"Escondido Econo Lodge - pull up to your front door"
Close to stores - including Trader Joes. Everything was as advertised: fridge & microwave in room; great continental breakfast. Pool too cold to swim, but nice jacuzzi. Clean, convenient, friendly front desk and we parked right in front of our door!

I was told I was getting a room with a kitchenette and would get a rollaway bed to use I did not get either . The bathroom wall had holes in it from screws and there was a roach in the toilet. Not happy at all won't stay again ever
Awful. Shouldn't even be offered on website.
"the right price"
We typically stay at cheaper hotels because we don't stay in the room much or enjoy spa stuff, etc. this hotel is a great price for what you get. The staff is very nice and friendly. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Our room wasn't ready so the cleaning girls raced to get it ready for us and we were so thankful after a long drive. the only […] complaint we had is the shower - the shower head was for someone under 5'4" tall. My husband and son had squat down in the shower to get under it. Not sure why that was done that way. The beds were very firm, but we didn't mind. Pool was clean and jacuzzi was nice. Read more
"Nice hotel - but service not as great"
Arriving late, the clerk kept putting his private call on hold while he checked me in. First time I've ever had to compete with a private call at a hotel. Also I booked a 2 bed room and ended up with 1 and a rollaway. Overall hotel pretty nice and the breakfast room was spacious, but the service didn't live up to the building.

The service at the Econo Lodge was excellent. The room itself was average. it was clean however the beds were hard and difficult to sleep in. The location was easy to find and it served our purpose of somewhere to stay before heading to the beach and Wild Animal Park. I would stay there again for one night but not any more.
"Good Location and comfortable"
Older place but a good 2 day stay. Staff was helpful and it was quiet.
"Did they have to repair right above the room?"
The clerk put us in a room where the upstairs balcony was being chopped, ground, pounded and otherwise torn apart. The room was full of cement dust, etc. every time I opened the door. We were unable to take the rest we needed during the day to continue our travels. I was disappointed, and will not return, nor recommend to others. There are lots of […] hotels on the same street that are newer and better maintained, AND CHEAPER. Even if you reserve with Hotels.com. Choose one of them instead! Read more
"Not a Great Place."
Pretty old and pretty dumpy. The beds were hard as rocks because it was a platform instead of a box spring. The bathroom fan was noisy. The help were nice and the continental breakfast was simple. The pool is small. I did not expect too much for the price but I was slightly let down. My advice is keep looking...

"Econo Lodge Escondido"
People where very pleasant, when asked for extra pillows, they were brought right to us. Excellent Restaurant right next door! Bed need to be upgraded for more comfort. other furniture is nice. Provided a free breakfast, of toast, ceral, muffins or danish, with milk, coffee, tea and orange juice. Would like to see envelopes for making hot coco. […] For I don't drink tea or coffe and allergic to orange juice. Plus a warm cup of Hot coco is very warm and relaxing to sit and sip. Stayed to spend a day at the wild animal Park. The Hotel is just of the road so you do hear road noise, but you'd hear it at any hotel next to a busy road. We would stay again if we plan another trip to the Wild animal Safari of San diego. Closest hotel to the park. Read more
the bed was small for supposedly being a queen

"worth the pric e"
I only stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and i mean just stayed there to sleep and bathe. the price is just right. we got there really late (around 11:30pm and i did not have to wait to check in. the guy at the desk was very helpful and courteous. i was going to brush my teeth when i found out the the sink was not draining properly so i called the desk […] and he got there right away and had it draining in no time. the room was clean and there's a restaurant right across from the hotel (just few feet away) if you dont' like the pastries and coffee that they have for free. the only problem that we had was the soundproofing- yeah, you will hear pretty much everything that's going on outside and next door. other than that, i recommend this hotel for short stays. "very nice"
the room was clean and comfortable and wifi in the room was good, the shuttle would take you to many places
"Good for the price"
Econolodge gives what you'd expect for the price. The room was small but enough for our short weekend stay. The price was right and the desk clerk was very personable. They offered free WiFi, continental breakfast, and it suited our needs. The beds were a little hard, but for the price, it's a great place to stay.
"Good locations, but needs renovating..."
For the most part, this place is relatively close to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Not walking distance, but it only took about 10 minutes tops to drive there. It smelled a little like a smoking room (we reserved a non-smoking place), so it took a while to air the place out. Plus, the room could've used a new paint job. You get what you pay far - […] so if you want a better place in the area, then expect a higher price! Read more
"Econolodge Escondido"
Not good! I had a few problems with the amenities in the room: the microwave did not work, the cable was fuzzy and some channels unwatchable, and the shower pressure was too intense and uncomfortable. You can find a better more conveniently located place to stay.

"Travelodge in Escondido, CA"
bathroom was small. housekeeper has four kids helping her, not comfortable leaving valuables when four kids in and out our room. it was supposed to be a queen size bed but we had a double size bed. very disappointed. no stores or restaurant near the hotel that is walking distance. the pictures looks different from in person. I know it's only a 2 star […] but at least make the bathroom roomy. Read more
This hotel was adequate but very crowded and the service just wasn't there. The room was v ery crowded, the repairs that had been made were poor in quality. The breakfast that was supposed to be ready at 7 wasn't by 7:30. It was in the area where we needed to be and from the standpoint was a good choice but otherwise we we go elsewhere to stay next […] time. Read more

"Econo-Lodge Escondido"
The toilet leaked and woke me up all night until I turned off the water to it. The shower leaked too. Other guests got up a 5AM and got lots and lots of ice, which made a lot of noise.
"Close to Wild Animal Park"
Very close to wild animal, great stay, next to two great restaurants, close to escondido mall. Service desk attendants were great very pleasant to talk to. Will definately stay here again.

you get what you paid for. People are nice and the hotel is clean enough. It is just that the hotel needs to remodel since it is too old. The best thing about it is that the cheapest price you can get. The worst thing about it is the odor from the bathroom.

"would stay here again definitely"
I have an eight year old and a four door full size 4wd truck. service was fast, friendly, and efficient. rooms were clean and parking was easy (even for my truck). great location, close to interstate, and felt safe with my kid with me.
"Econo Lodge, Escondido"
Full house at Econo Lodge every night there. Guest were quiet and respectful. Service desk employees were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean.
"No-frills, clean hotel, but where was staff??"
Check-in was no problem, but check-out was a slightly different story. Breakfast was supposed to be served starting at 7am, so I went down to check out around 7:10 thinking I could grab a bagel or a muffin quick. No one was around. The front lobby was locked, breakfast was not out, and no one responded to the night bell. After waiting several minutes, […] I finally left my room key in the drop box and left. Otherwise, my stay was fine. I wasn't there long, but the room was clean and comfortable and the location is convenient to the 5 and some restaurants/shopping. Read more
"Decent Economical Option"
I only needed to stay overnight, but my stay was comfortable and pleasant enough to go back if I find myself in that area again.
