This is a nice hotel for a family vacation. Having some separate rooms and a kitchen is always nice. The sofa bed was comfortable. The master bed was slightly lumpy. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly.

Our unrenovated suite was a bit tired and dated but the rooms were quite spacious and clean. As noted by others, there is an IGA next door so it was easy to stock our little kitchen for breakfast and snacks. Location is good but what made this hotel a standout was the great concierge staff. This hotel is in downtown Vancouver and surrounded by great restaurants lots of shopping but the traffic is very congested. The hotel is very nice and service is top notch. If you want to be downtown this is the place to stay.

The location was fantastic, with Robson Street shopping and great restaurants nearby. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment that was so comfortable that we extended our stay there. The bed was really comfortable. They're undergoing renovations to update the units, but they've maintained the existing ones well. We would stay here again.

Everything was pretty great except the condition of the carpet, and furniture in our suite. Everything looked 10 years old and poorly maintained, including the walls which had layers of paint. Do a rehab on your rooms!

We booked LeGrande Residence at the Sutton Place Hotel pretty much for the location and the reviews had been good. I must say we were impressed! The Residences have full kitchens -- full sized coffee pots-- and we used the kitchen a bit, so that was a savings over restaurants. A grocery is right across the street, as is Le Crocodile, a GREAT french […] restaurant in Vancouver. Also, you're just around the corner from the Robson Street shopping. We found the concierge to be extremely helpful, and the valet parking was quick and responsive. Great location and wonderful property. Parking was $40/day and the suite was clean but very minimally furnished and the bath room was very small. I had to ask extra towels and pillows to accomodate my child eventhough we let them know ahead of time.

Our hotel room was actually a converted one-bedroom apartment, making it the equivalent of a hotel suite and giving us ample room for the three of us. It had a full kitchen, a very large flat screen TV with surround sound speakers, a balcony, and very comfortable bed. My girlfriend woke me up at 2 in the morning to tell me there were bugs on my pillow case. The headboard of the bed wasn't even attached to the bed frame, it was just leaned up against the wall behind the bed so every time you moved a muscle in the bed it would hit the wall. I recently stayed at this hotel on a 4 day trip involving business and pleasure. I am in Vancouver 3-5 times per year for extended business/personal visits, but this was a first time to this hotel. The Hotel appeared nice online and the lobby and entrance looked very nice. Unfortunately nothing else supported this "packaging." Upon arrival we saw the […] same as noted in other comments, while location and size are good, the condition of carpeting and furniture is best described as worn and in need of replacement. Other issues: non-functioning coffee machine taking two tries to get a working one; non-functioning toilet last day (no adequate effort by staff to remedy really anything). Heating unit made portions of the room shake and vibrate (again - despite complaints - no action by staff to address). When finally after the non-working toilet fiasco I asked for a call from the General Manager, instead I got a call from a manager of the day. She indicated GM was gone all week but would call me afterwards. It has been 10 days -- still waiting. This place should be listed as a Budget hotel at a midrange price. There are so many other options in Vancouver FAR superior to this hotel. Read more

Great room and great service. The only negative was the lack of hot water - even as early as 6 a.m. and that the rooms were often not cleaned until so late in the day (after 5 when we were out of the room since 10 a.m. each day) Having said that I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The "grand residence" building ain't so grand! The suite was tired, early-80s, low ceilings, original bathroom and kitchen, economy FF&E. The parking charges for seven nights worked out to another nights stay.

Lovely hotel. Second time we stayed there - great rooms - spacious and well equipped. Hotel service was great. The check-in staff went out of their way to ensure we understood the cost of valet parking... we were in a rush, but they were ready to offer alternatives, should we have opted for a cheaper option. The adults had a 4 course menu in the restaurant which was very memorable, and in thanks to the kids' patience they were offered complimentary desert... and what a desert - trip to the chocolate foundation with fresh fruit dipped in chocolate. The location was excellent - right in the heart of Vancouver. I was up at 6am for the Vancouver to Whistler Gran Fondo bike ride. Yes, you get some extra space due to a dining area and the convenience of a kitchen, but this hotel isn't worth the price we paid. The hotel itself is an outdated apartment building, connecting on the ground floor to the Sutton Place Hotel which looked lovely. The pool is tiny, but that was fine. Crumbs under the dining room table (don't you even vacuum between guests???) and stains on the sofa pillows. Sticky door handles and smears on the walls. It was pretty gross. Also very stingy with towels. We were 3 people and each day we received either only 1 or 2 sets of towels, so we had to call for more. Who leaves ONE set of towels in a suite? At that price I don't expect the Ritz, but please give me a clean room for my family's vacation. The biggest positive was the great neighborhood. My daughter and I were very pleased by our suite. We were especially impressed by the cleaning crew. We felt that they went above and beyond what we would have expected every day of out 4 day stay. Front desk was also very accommodating when we arrived early (11 a.m.) -- they found a room for us.

The Sutton Place is in a great location. It allows excellent access to all of the major attractions and areas in Vancouver. If only for this reason, it is a good place to stay if you can get a good rate. In other areas, the Grande Residence itself is just ok. The rooms feel a bit tired and in need of renovation. My fiancee and I also may have had a […] less than stellar room. We we're originally placed in a room in which the carpets were damp from having just been clean. We asked to be moved and ended up in the apparently the only room (as we later learned from the bellhop) which had an external floor A/C unit and also did not have the widescreen TV that all the rooms came with. For some reason, we also couldn't use the paperview on our TV despite having multiple people come try to fix it. All of that being said, all the people we interacted with at the Sutton Place were very friendly and (at least tried to be) helpful. It seems like if they could just invest a little more money into overhauling their amenities it could be a great place to stay. Read more

I used hotels.com to book a reasonable alternative to conference hotels at Canada Place for my entire family in Vancouver in July. This apartment style room worked perfectly for our family as we were able to have privacy and the kids got the big tv! Staff was extremely helpful with directions and info, however they did tend to recommend pricier shops […] and restaurants. Parking was a pain, as we refused to pay $40/day and my husband moved the car from free evening parking right next to the hotel to $10/day parking over at Stanley Park. Business Center was expensive as well, but the pool and fitness center were great. Definitely recommend to families looking for convenient apartment style hotel in posh surroundings. Read more

I got a suite at a discount for two nights. First impression: many of its patrons seem snooty and/or bratty. The lobby and other common areas are quite nice! The workout room is HUGE! Pool is nice. This hotel is in the heart of downtown Vancouver. We stayed before a cruise and the terminal was only 5 short blocks away. Also convenient to busses and the skytrain. Lovely, fully stocked with every amenity, suite with a terrace overlooking downtown.

Super convinient location. Great Hotel Staff. Great Amenities. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom is a little smaller than the Sutton Place Hotel and the room decor is not comparable with the Sutton Place Hotel. But, it was nice to have a living room, dining area and kitchen. We had a great time.
