"Great choice!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Price and location were right. Grounds and maintainance inside and out were above average....flowers blooming everywhere! Front desk friendly and efficient. Room spacious and well appointed with 2 Q beds and new, big, flat screen TV (room 301). Towels were not lush, but there were 4 of them, so no issues!

"Good mid-price choice"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
This is a good choice if North Vancouver is your destination. Lots of shopping and eating in the market below the hotel, which is also where the parking is located. The more upscale and higher priced rooms get you further out towards the water, which can be worth it in terms of quiet and view.
"2 nights in Vancouver."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Hotel was very clean and new. Hotel is in middle of Chinatown so you won't see many chain restaurants or food other than very traditional Asian.

"Great apartment hotel room"
Good location to downtown sites. We loved having a kitchen, dining room and living room plus the bedroom. Grocery store across the street with prepared food, Good restaurants nearby especially Joeys. Has a pull out couch for kids.

"Deceptively packaged and Not Worth Staying at"
I recently stayed at this hotel on a 4 day trip involving business and pleasure. I am in Vancouver 3-5 times per year for extended business/personal visits, but this was a first time to this hotel. The Hotel appeared nice online and the lobby and entrance looked very nice. Unfortunately nothing else supported this "packaging." Upon arrival we saw the […] same as noted in other comments, while location and size are good, the condition of carpeting and furniture is best described as worn and in need of replacement. Other issues: non-functioning coffee machine taking two tries to get a working one; non-functioning toilet last day (no adequate effort by staff to remedy really anything). Heating unit made portions of the room shake and vibrate (again - despite complaints - no action by staff to address). When finally after the non-working toilet fiasco I asked for a call from the General Manager, instead I got a call from a manager of the day. She indicated GM was gone all week but would call me afterwards. It has been 10 days -- still waiting. This place should be listed as a Budget hotel at a midrange price. There are so many other options in Vancouver FAR superior to this hotel. Read more
Great room and great service. The only negative was the lack of hot water - even as early as 6 a.m. and that the rooms were often not cleaned until so late in the day (after 5 when we were out of the room since 10 a.m. each day) Having said that I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

"Great location & service, very disappointing suite"
The "grand residence" building ain't so grand! The suite was tired, early-80s, low ceilings, original bathroom and kitchen, economy FF&E. The parking charges for seven nights worked out to another nights stay.
"Very Nice"
This was a great hotel. Central location, nice suites. It made our trip to Vancouver so much more enjoyable.
"Excellente full kirchen, we travelled with kids"
This is the second time we stay there with two 4, and 6 yr old, and works perfect! ONLY PROBLEM: I booked one night and when we arrived to check-in, there was a paid-for reservation for 6 nights!! Thankfully I was able to show my Hotels.com reservation for 1 night, but it took 30min+ to get us to the room, and with hungry and tired kids it can be a […] hustle! Camila Read more
"Great Location"
Walkable to anywhere in downtown Vancouver. Hotel staff very friendly and responsive. Nice work out room, pool & spa. Sun Deck a bonus. Only complaint is the restauant offers a tenderloin, lobster & chocolate dinner and Saturday night at 7:00 there was no lobster left. Very disappointing as a special birthday dinner was planned. Other than that, a wonderful […] hotel. Read more
"Great experience"
My daughter and I were very pleased by our suite. We were especially impressed by the cleaning crew. We felt that they went above and beyond what we would have expected every day of out 4 day stay. Front desk was also very accommodating when we arrived early (11 a.m.) -- they found a room for us.
"Good But Not Great"
The Sutton Place is in a great location. It allows excellent access to all of the major attractions and areas in Vancouver. If only for this reason, it is a good place to stay if you can get a good rate. In other areas, the Grande Residence itself is just ok. The rooms feel a bit tired and in need of renovation. My fiancee and I also may have had a […] less than stellar room. We we're originally placed in a room in which the carpets were damp from having just been clean. We asked to be moved and ended up in the apparently the only room (as we later learned from the bellhop) which had an external floor A/C unit and also did not have the widescreen TV that all the rooms came with. For some reason, we also couldn't use the paperview on our TV despite having multiple people come try to fix it. All of that being said, all the people we interacted with at the Sutton Place were very friendly and (at least tried to be) helpful. It seems like if they could just invest a little more money into overhauling their amenities it could be a great place to stay. Read more
"Convenient & Fabulous Staff"
I used hotels.com to book a reasonable alternative to conference hotels at Canada Place for my entire family in Vancouver in July. This apartment style room worked perfectly for our family as we were able to have privacy and the kids got the big tv! Staff was extremely helpful with directions and info, however they did tend to recommend pricier shops […] and restaurants. Parking was a pain, as we refused to pay $40/day and my husband moved the car from free evening parking right next to the hotel to $10/day parking over at Stanley Park. Business Center was expensive as well, but the pool and fitness center were great. Definitely recommend to families looking for convenient apartment style hotel in posh surroundings. Read more

"Very good"
Excellent rooms, service, and location
"Great hotel and location"
Really nice hotel, the room was great and in a great central location. Only negative was parking at $39 per night was rather high.
"Vancouver"
The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is in a wonderful location, just a bit outdated. I would still recommend it.
"La Grande Residence Vancouver at The Sutton Place"
This hotel was excellent. I highly recommend staying here. The hotel was spotless, the rooms were huge, the view was fantastic, the staff was amazing, and it had a perfect location. This is by far one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. Highly recommended!
"La Grande Residence Vancouver at the Sutton Place"
Super convinient location. Great Hotel Staff. Great Amenities. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom is a little smaller than the Sutton Place Hotel and the room decor is not comparable with the Sutton Place Hotel. But, it was nice to have a living room, dining area and kitchen. We had a great time.
"Great Hotel in Vancouver"
Right in the heart of Downtown. Great night life surrounding the hotel (e.g. lots of people walking and talking, bike riding, etc.) seemed to be a good safe environment.
"SUTTON PLACE RESIDENCES"
AN OLD DUMP VERY POORLY LAID OUT. CRACKED PLASTER WALLS AND TINY CORRIDOR KITCHEN NOT AS ADVERTISED BY HOTWIRE AND GIVE IT 3 STARS AT BEST

My stay at this hotel was wonderful. I plan to return again in six months.
"Sutton Hotel in downtown Vancouver"
Although the location of this hotel is very convenient and it was supposed to be a high-hand place, it was rather dingy and outdated, extremely noisy at night, and no breakfast was available on Sundays. The staff of the hotel was friendly but on multiple occasions gave recommendations for restaurants that turned out to be rather poor, and did not promptly […] respond to requests. Read more

"Great service and location"
We stayed at the Residence part of the hotel and were very impressed with their service. From the bellhop to the concierge to the front desk - they were always helpful and quick to attend to our needs. A nice hotel and the suite was great for our family (two young boys). We were right down town and close to everything. We will go back!

"Great location, great room, but..."
I honestly hate to give a poor review to the Sutton La Grande Residence, but I feel like I have to. The location is second to none, ideally situated in downtown Vancouver, central and walking distance to everything...even a grocery store next door. However, the hotel elevators are slow...painfully slow. It may sound petty, but when it's the 10th time […] you're waiting five minutes in the lobby for an elevator and a dozen other people are waiting too...you get a little tired of being crammed in nose to nose for the slow ride up. The worst thing though was the room air conditioner, every time it kicked on it was like someone starting a lawn mower...LOUD and everything in the room rattled. eventually we kept it turned off with the windows open, the city noise was much better than the AC. The final straw though was the check out, discovering the $40 a day parking fee that had not been mentioned prior to check out. Sure, I guess I should have asked, but was expecting something REASONABLE. All in all, it was enough that I won't be staying at the Sutton again, and honestly can't recommend it. It's too expensive for low quality services like this. Read more
"Good Experience"
We arrived an hour early so no rooms/suites were available in the Grande Residence. We were offered the opportunity to wait or take a suite in the Sutton Place itself. We didn't really care about the kitchen so we took them up on their offer. The hotel is traditional and nice. The room decor was somewhat older but well kept. We didn't eat at the hotel […] so couldn't vouch for the restaurant but all the staff was friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for us as it is just a half a block from Robson on Burrard so we were able to walk most places we wanted to go. Read more
"La Grande Residence"
Excellent hotel the staff were the best of any hotel I have ever stayed in. I went on new years the staff were great. I couldnt have asked for a better stay. About the only complaint was the pool spa being down. It is a great hotel I would reccomend it to anyone.

"Great location, Pleasant stay"
Overall a great place to stay given its top notch location next to Robson, shopping and downtown. Service was excellent and in particular the concierge staff was very helpful. Hotel quality is very good although the room decor was a bit dated. We stayed in the La Grande part of the hotel which has the added benefit of kitchens that are fully stocked […] with appliances, dishes, cups and flatware. The hotel was 100% full when we stayed there but we didn't find things crowded or noisy at all. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience. Read more

"Great Location"
Loved the location of this hotel right off Robson. Only stayed one night, but could see staying longer period. Had two one bedroom suites to accommodate the five of us. One room had to be "refreshed" with some sort of air cleaner as the previous occupant apparently smoked--not cool. Only other complaint was that the heating/air unit outside the bedroom […] window was extremely loud and woke me out of a sound sleep twice. Bed was comfortable, however. For the price we paid, we definitely got a good value. Read more
"Outstanding location"
Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and it was fully equipped. There was a grocery store right across the street and you are in the heart of all the shopping that Robson Street has to offer. Loved the location, 10 min. walk to yale town and the gaslamp district. The staff were very professional.
"Very nice hotel"
We only stayed one night at this hotel, but we really enjoyed it. The staff was excellent. (Tip: Don't exchange your money at the airport. There is no fee at the hotel, and they give you a better exchange rate. Also, try to find other transportation from airport other than taxi. It cost us $35.) There weren't many restaurant choices near by that we […] were interested in, so we went next door to a very nice grocery store and got food from their deli. We took it back to the room and made use of the kitchen. Very nice room with a lot of space. We loved the bed and the pillows, too. Would definately stay there again if we were given the same half off rate (I'm a bargain shopper). Read more

"Great Bargain in a good area"
Great price for 2 bedrooms with a living room/kitchen and 2 bathrooms. It was liking having a apartment in the city. A little worn around the edges but very comfortable although the room we had the 2nd night had a very noisy air conditioner on the balcony so you couldn't leave the doors open.
"in the middle of it all"
a all-suite annex immediately adjacent to the main hotel. relatively spacious, with large LCD TV in living room, comfortable bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen), 2 adequate baths (tub only, w/o shower, in master), minimally equipped full kitchen with coffee-maker, coffee and tea supplied. reasonable indoor pool area with hot tub, adequate excercise facility […] (2 ellip's, 2 tread's, stationary bikes and weight machines). extremely friendly and helpful service at all levels. nice in-house restaurant, weekend evening choclate buffets as an event. 10 minute walk to harbour and convention center. 5 minute walk to shopping on Robson St, or nightlive on Granville St. A favorite hotel Read more
"terrific!"
very roomy and great location
"Great Experience"
Incredible...We could not have been treated any better. The staff is a class act. Room was incredible and kitchen was a godsend with a child. Look forward to staying there when we are in town again.

"Outstanding Hotel"
Location was great. Service and attitude of staff was great. Room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable.
"Excellent 1-bed apartment"
We were delighted with the standard and quality of the 1-bedroom apartment. Very large, comfortable and fully equipped at little more than the price of the usual 4-star hotel room. Staff were friendly and helpful. Car parking is expensive at $30 per day but valet parking is included in the price. The Suttton Place is close to Robson St for shopping […] and only 15min walk from the harbour area and Seabus terminal. Vancouver is a lovely city and you can walk to most downtown areas of interest. We also used the hop-on / hop-off trolley bus - a 2-day ticket is about $40 per person. Read more
"Outstanding Hotel"
This is a lovely, upscale hotel in the heart of Vancouver. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the service was tops!
