"Great experience"
Very nice experience at Hotel San Marco. Staff was great as was Montecatini Terme itself (Great to escape the crowds of Florence). The room was clean and large but some were more sparse than others. I would recommend you request a room with a balcony. The view is stunning. Please note that the hotel is 30 minutes by train to Florence. Price as not a factor, only time. That said, the train is extremely comfortable and clean. Great Florence experience.

"The staff was very kind."
It was clean and comfortable. Breakfast is less than the standard. But, it was enough for us. The staff was very kind. 5 minute walk from downtown. I would definitely recommend.

"You get what you pay for"
As a 3 star hotel I expected more from this hotel. We were placed on the 6th floor with the elevator only reaching the 5th and as such you need to walk the rest which can be a problem if you have large suitcases (we did). Rooms were on the small side especially the bathroom. Taking a shower was a problem and no holder for the shower hear on the wall and the bath would have benefits from a shower screen.curtain. Aircon didn't work as expected in that it blew hot air out but didn't cause us too much of a problem as we just kept windows opened. Walls separating rooms were very thin and could hear occupants next door opening and shutting cupboards. I took the breakfast option with consisted of cereals, bread, butter, jam - no cheese or meat products. I ended up buying these from a local supermarket to supplement my breakfast. The staff themselves were great and very helpful. Polite at all times and always with a smile. Nearby hotel car park was a great benefit as was the hotel's locality to Montecatini i..e. 5 mins walk.

"Rustig hotel op loopafstand van centrum."
Hotel lag aan rustige straat, op loopafstand van centrum. Prettig personeel die goed Engels spraken!!! Eenpersoonsbed net iets te kort voor mijn lengte van 1.92 m., maar ik vond dat geen probleem. Ruime keus bij ontbijtbuffet.

"Great service"
We didn't actually get a room at the san marco, the room was out of order. But the hotel arranged for us to stay at a nearby 5-star hotel instead, for no additional cost. Now that's great service!

"Great holiday!"
12/29/15 HUnora Tokol, Hungary
Spent five days here in July, the rooms are adequate, the beds comfortable. Quiet and clean, had a very nice view from my room. I was there with a group and the provided breakfast was fine, the waiters were very kind and helpful.

"Better Than Expected"

The San Marco was a nice surprise. We were booked here through Gate 1 Travel and stayed in room 514 which had a balcony with beautiful views of Montecatini Alto. The room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job sprucing up on a daily basis. Is it the Four Seasons? No! It's definitely dated, but well appointed including a fridge in the room. Bathroom was nice with good water pressure in the shower and a decent hair dryer. Front desk was helpful and their English was pretty good which was a bonus. Huge front patio with plenty of outdoor seating which was a nice place to relax in the afternoon (and a nice spot for the BF to enjoy his cigar). Only had breakfast a couple of times and it was adequate (meat, cheese, bread, croissants, cereal, fruit). The location of the hotel was great - only 5 minute walk to most everything - park, shops and restaurants. Montecatini Terme is a great little town! The only negative was the parking. They have a lot the next street over, but it's an old lot surrounding an abandoned building and no lighting at night. The good thing is, you don't really need your car unless you're leaving the area. All in all, I was very pleased with the San Marco and would definitely stay here again.

"Good hotel if you can find it"

Had to get help from two different Italians to find this hotel since gps was useless. Once there found the hotel to be pleasant and the staff friendly. Breakfast, although very good, was the same every morning. Centrally located.

"Second Year Better than the First"
10/28/15 Joseph C South Windsor, Connecticut
We stayed at this charming hotel for a second year's vacation. Once again the staff were very friendly, helpful with our requests, and professional. The location near the park is fairly quiet, yet convenient to the business center and train station, as well as the funicular up to the old town restaurants of Alto. Breakfast was good with lots of food selections. The location is convenient to take trains to Florence, Rome, Pisa, Lucca, etc. and also to drive to smaller Tuscan towns and villages. Excellent Job by Hotel San Marco !!

"Great Value for the price"
10/28/15 CindyFromAnnapolis Annapolis, Maryland
This is an inexpensive hotel in the spa town of Montecatini Terme, with easy access to many sites in Tuscany. The hotel staff is friendly and very helpful. They provide a nice breakfast every morning with ham, cheese, bread, yogurt, eggs, fruit and a cappuccino machine. The view from our balcony was beautiful, including a lovely view of Montecatini Alto. The hotel is older and a bit dated. There is only a hand held shower and large bathtub and while first we were disappointed with no shower, the bathtub is huge and filled quickly with steaming hot water. Very relaxing after walking and hiking all day. The decor reminded me of my grandmother's house! For the price this hotel was a tremendous value. Special recognition goes to Grazie at the front desk, who was incredibly patient and helpful while helping us with an ongoing rental car problem.

First of all, forget using a gps to get here. Neither TomTom nor Garmin could find the place. It is best to try to find it in the day time not at night like we tried. The problem is the one way streets and the pedestrian only park. Our gps took us into the park where cars were not allowed. An angry Italian let us know that we were wrong. We stayed here at the end of October when the days are warm and sunny and the nights are cold. Ready for this? NO HEAT! Are you kidding me! We were told that they do not turn on the heat until November 1st!!!! Apparently people complained and after the third night we had heat. Our bathroom was upgraded with nice Italian marble but the room was a disaster. The carpet was stained, the chair had a ripe in the arm, and most interesting was that the ceiling had had a water leak with the stains showing and plaster falling onto the desk which the maid never cleaned up! Breakfast was nothing to write home about. The only compliment we can make is about the staff who were very helpful and went out of their way to help us. We missed breakfast one day and they got us pastries and juice.

"Great for the value "

The hotel was a little difficult to find since there are a lot of one way streets surrounding it and our car gps kept losing signal. Parking was okay; we parked on the street which says you're required to pay in between 0800-2000 but we parked there during the day and each night without paying and never got a ticket (guess it was luck). The staff says they offer free parking but we couldn't find it so we made due with the street. The staff spoke enough English to get by. The wifi was beyond slow but free. The rooms were nothing to write home about. The bathroom could use some upgrades, like an actual shower. There's literally a tub with a hose and no curtain so you have to be careful not spray everywhere. The breakfast literally consisted of hard croissants and rolls, hard boiled eggs, cereal, and cold cut cheese and ham, as well as a cappuccino maker. It's a small and slightly old fashioned hotel. If arriving late at night, you have to ring the door bell to the right of the front door because the desk attendant literally pad locks the door. The front of the hotel is all glass so I guess in the case of an emergency you can always break the glass to exit, otherwise it's a fire hazard because you are literally chained inside the hotel. It took us off guard our first night when we arrived back a little after 0100. And the doorbell isn't really noticeable unless you know it's there and you're looking for it The hotel is located in a quiet section and within a couple blocks from bars and restaurants with good food! Overall I would return if I had to. It was relatively clean and the staff was nice and helpful.

This is a lovely hotel with excellent personnel. Our room was clean and adequate. The breakfast buffet was very good and the breakfast room was nicely done, clean and neat. The lobby has comfortable over stuffed couches and chairs, a bar and shelves of books from which to borrow. The large outdoor patio has ample seating and a relaxing feel.

We liked it here. It is a little run down but nice. The breakfast was basic but it is free so we didn't mind. Ham, cheese, fresh whole fruit, cereal and bread. The rooms were ok but with only 1 elevator it can take a while to get to your room. We were in room 514 and it had a nice view and was quiet. I would def stay here again. We liked to buy sandwiches from a local bar and one up to our room and eat on the balcony. It was quiet and we could see the stars. The only downside is no local or good prices laundry service. $2E per pair or socks and $6 for t shirt is a bit steep for 2 weeks worth of clothes. I was hoping it would be like Ireland where they charge by the weight but no such luck. The hotel also doesn't do the laundry in house. They send it out to a local dry cleaner. We ended up washing it by hand in the sink/shower (I brought a travel size liquid laundry soap with us) and hanging it outside to dry daily. Saved us over a $100E.

"Lovely"

stayed here with national Holidays, pleasant hotel, lovely rooms with balcony offering a gorgeous view of Montecatini Alto, lovely terrace, no restaurant but breakfast offered was satisfactory. Only a short distance into the centre but lots of other lovely walks too, definitely did the job for our stay. Only downfall was the set of steps leading up to the Hotel which can be difficult if carrying lots of luggage
