"Nice hotel great surroundings"
As a whole had a really lovely stay, my husband and I stayed for 2 nights to celebrate a special birthday and a last break before our first baby arrives early may. The hotel very kindly upgraded us to a suite which was very comfortable. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and has a lovely little spa attached. Breakfast was beautiful with a great […] menu to choose from and we spent an evening just relaxing in the library in front of an amazing log fire. I only have a couple of negatives, mostly the cleanliness of the room. The living space needed a good dusting and the couch was all stained which was a shame because apart from this I would have given full marks. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
What a great hotel. Staff were excellent as was our room. Spent some time in spa which was very relaxing. Ate in restaurant in evening and couldn't fault it, food and service were excellent. Can't wait to visit again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you are looking for something special this hotel cannot really be beaten - from everything from the minute we arrived to when we left nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Rooms are luxurious with nice touches like soft seating, magazines and a flat screen tv that is big enough to see. Food and the restaurant is top class - you would not be […] disappointed. "poor service and standard of hot food at breakfast"
Lovely hotel. Unfortunately the service we received at breakfast was very disappointing and the hot food we were served was overcooked and cold. Also very cheap bathroom fitting (toilet roll holder)Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel but slow staff"
Hotel has a lovely garden and the room was comfortable. The food was tasty but the staff were slow. Staff pleasant but not on the ball enough for the quality of hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good quality country hotel"
Stayed one night for a friends wedding reception. Everything went according to plan and was well organised there was plenty of staff available and no hiccups. The staff, without exception were helpful, polite without being OTT. The only downside was the price of the drinks which were excessive even taking into account the type of hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Top Location, Great Hotel, Wonderful Service"
I chose the Wood Hall Spa as a place in Yorkshire near to York, Harrogate, Leeds and lots of other tourist attractions. I was right. It was an excellent choice. The hotel was first-class with ALL the staff eager, willing and able to please. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent continental and cooked breakfast served in the delightful Restaurant. […] Plenty to do around Wetherby including walks from the Hotel recommended by the well-experienced staff. We had an excellent 2 Rosette dinner at the Hotel during the week which was excellently cooked and presented with attentive and knowledgeable waiting staff. All in all a very good break. Onl;y a pity we didn't get to enjoy the lovely spa and pool facilities - there just wasn't time! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for a quiet get away"
The standard of the hotel is excellent. The rooms are very comfortable and it is very quiet. It is a venue to get away from it all and to relax. The spa is decent, although the gym is rather dated. The food is good, although the service in the dining room is poor. Breakfast was notably poor. After receiving just some toast and tea in 40 minutes (despite […] an adundance fo staff), we chose to leave without our main breakfast. In fairness, the response by the manager after we complained was excellent. I cannot fault this at all and it was very pleasing. I would though recommend room service, which was timely and to a good quality. Wetherby and numerous villages are nearly by. I would recommend the Fox and Hounds pub (just outside Wetherby) and Mango in Wetherby itself. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Could not have asked for more!!"

My husband and I stayed for what unfortunately was just the one night at the Wood Hall Hotel, but we will most definitely return. From arrival to departure we couldn't have been more delighted, with not just the hotel but the staff as well who all wore smiles and were charming and helpful in every way. We needed somewhere to stay as we were visiting York races and when this hotel appeared on the Secret Escapes website it was ideal and we were not disappointed. The room although a standard one was roomy and bright and clean with everything we could have wished for. The TV seemed to have a problem when we got there but we had been in the room less than five minutes when we had a call from the front desk to make sure that the room was satisfactory and when we said that there seemed a problem with the TV I think it must have taken about 3 minutes for a lovely young man called Danny to appear to correct any issues we had. He was so helpful and wanted to know if there was anything else we needed and when I asked for fresh milk it was no problem and he bought it when he said he would, brilliant lovely Yorkshire and proud of it. An asset to any establishment. We slept well in the very comfy beds and woke to a well made and hot breakfast that was served and not buffet style which made a pleasant change, everything was fresh and made to order. Oh yes I forgot to mention 'Bobby the badger' who is used as a do not disturb sign, He is also for sale and I just could not come home without him, but I will take him back for a visit some time, soon I hope!!
"Not as good as you'd expect"

We only stopped for one night. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. On the way to room I noticed that the communal areas where a little grubby. The room its self was ok but not really as "special" as you'd expect. Could really benefit from a freshen up. Breakfast was ok but a buffet style doesnt really cut it at this level of accommodation. A real shame as its a beautiful location with staff that work hard to make your stay special.

I've stayed at two handpicked hotels and they've always been top notch. We stayed here just for one night a couple if days ago. Our room was absolutely gorgeous it was an old look room but with modern furniture, very cozy and comfortable! When we went to check in we had to wait around 5 minutes for someone to come to the desk to be able to check us in, two waiting on staff passed and didn't acknowledge us at all and looked very clueless as to what they were actually doing. A lovely women checked us in but I forgot her name she had dark hair and was very nice. We then went down for some lunch in the bar which we had to wait an extremely long time for. We ordered fish cakes which took just over 45 minutes to arrive and we were the only people in the bar. We phoned down to the spa as my partner wanted a massage but they had no spaces available which was a shame but they can't help that. So we decided to go for a swim instead. When we walked in it was very clean but doesn't have a spa look about it. And it wasn't busy at all so we couldn't understand how they had no spaces available both therapist rooms were both available but they couldn't squeeze us in, hmm. We then went to use the pool, the changing facilities aren't the best I've seen but there was a sign saying they were soon to be refurbished. As were a young couple the older people who were in the pool were giving us dirty looks and didn't really like the fact we were there. When I went to get changed I accidentally left the pool door slightly open and an elder lady who was getting changed shouted at me and demanded I close it, I didn't realise I left it open so was happy to close it but there's no reason to be rude about it. She then started to walk around the changing rooms strip naked, which I thought was extremely unpleasant!! We then went down for dinner and didn't really understand where to go so we went in to the lounge. There was no music or atmosphere, we just felt the need to whisper which wasn't great, it needs something to make it a bit louder! No one then greeted us so we weren't quiet sure on what to do, so we sat there and sat there, no menus or drinks and still whispering. After 20 minutes someone came over to ask what we wanted to drink we also then asked for menus. 5 minutes later our drinks arrived we asked for menus again. Someone in a suit then passed us, maybe the restaurant manager? We then also asked him for menus. Again they never arrived! After 30 minutes of waiting for menus we then got up and went to reception and asked for menus, someone then came over and finally gave us them, after asking four times!! After ordering and being taken to the table everything was fine, again the restaurant is also very quiet! Zero atmosphere! A lovely girl called Leanne served us, defiantly a credit to the team! Very good at her job! It would be nice for the staff to come over and talk to you, I know there busy but no conversation at all. Food was great and everything from that point was great! Bed was comfy and so was everything else in the room! We came down for breakfast and were actually greeted this time and shown to a table, waited 15 minutes for just tea and toast and when it came the toast was freezing. They also took our food order straight away so we didn't have time get anything from the buffet which again was a shame. We then wanted some more toast but after you've had your hot food the team members don't care about you. Shame really. Another thing that actually upset me and made me feel very disappointed was how it was my partners birthday but it wasn't acknowledged at all through our stay. The receptionist said happy birthday on check in but after that, nothing, I've seen pictures online where people get happy birthday written on the plates with chocolate which is nice. Other people have also had champagne and chocolates waiting in there room on arrival, or maybe even just a simple birthday card. But he got nothing apart from a simple happy birthday, which I was upset about as we only stayed for his birthday but it wasn't even acknowledged.
"Don't waste money on afternoon tea"
08/11/14 Robert W Wetherby
My wife and I went to Wood Hall for afternoon tea last month and were very disappointed with the quality of sandwiches and overall value for money -- the cost being £19.50 per person. The setting is magnificent with views across Lower Wharfedale and it makes for a great venue for functions. We have dined at Wood Hall and also been to wedding receptions there but clearly afternoon tea was well below the standard we had previously enjoyed on those occasions. However my wife and I would not sit on the comfy looking armchairs as the covers were badly stained and probably had never been in the laundry or dry cleaned. I quietly mentioned this to waitress but having checked on a visit today, nothing has been done. If the tea had not been so expensive the sandwiches would have been a joke , with three or was it four ? fingers which barely measured an inch in width. The egg filling was boiled but not mashed and we had a lump of white with a trace of yolk -- which for all we knew could have been left over from breakfast. Also the ham was at least 50% fat (which we don't eat) and was certainly not home cured and tasteless, which one would not expect from a "Hand picked" Hotel. We live fairly close to Wood Hall but shall wait for glowing reports before risking another visit.
"A perfect stopover"

We had a one night stopover at the end of July, the stay was excellent good reception, lovely good sized room with great views we even made use of the indoor pool and spa.Breakfast was good with attentive staff..the only downside being the cost of evening meals, not the end of the world as the pub at the end of the lane was excellent.

My husband and I visited here for my Birthday and Wedding anniversary. We went to Rudding Park last year and thought we'd give Wood Hall a try as it has a pool. We booked a spa package and were looking froward to a well deserved chill out and relax (we have a 2 year old and a 3 month baby and only go away for one night once a year!) My husband emailed hotel and asked if possible could we have a lovely room...Well it wasn't very relaxing and we didnt get a lovely room. On arrival I thought Wow! The scenery and hotel looked amazing and I got all excited for our stay. My mood was soon deflated. There was a wedding (on a monday?!) and hotel seemed busy. Room 32 was pokey and so hot it was stifling. Our room had no view and we had noisy neighbours across the hall who were at the wedding. We went to check out the spa hoping that would improve our mood...well as we walked in a man did, what I could only describe as, a dive bomb in to the pool...There were only four loungers around the pool, which is not ideal when the hotel advertises spa breaks/days. So basically a noisy pool, not enough beds to relax on and a noisy room...I wanted to leave. Luckily by late afternoon the majority of people had left to go to the wedding but it was still not what you would call a relaxing environment. On the evening the hotel was overun with wedding guests, you almost felt like you were intruding on their special day. Before dinner you are shown to the drawing room, which was comparable to a library no atmosphere and dull. Dinner was just ok, nothing impressive. I enjoyed breakfast with a magnificent view, full english was lovely, however the fruit and pastries was a poor offering and yoghury was warm. Would I go back, erm probably not. I cant believe I wasted my one night away on this hotel, I read the reviews and it seemed comparable to Rudding Park. It was not, we were spoilt last year, gorgeous room (upgrade due to special occasion perhaps, although it was a weekend and they too had a wedding) champagne, birthday card and home made chocolates from the hotel.i think this hotel needs to give more attention to detail, gates left open so you can see bins, dirty linen and laundry/house keeping trolly left in corridors practically all day, I could go on. Deeply disappointed in Wood Hall.
"Excellent wedding venue"

The long drive to Wood hall Hotel gives an impression of grandness , as the Hotel has an imposing façade . Plenty of car parking and a warm welcome at the reception. Rooms are very comfortable and well equipped , ours with a super view . Food was tasty and well served in a good dinning room , which later had several tables cleared and served as a dance floor with a great band. Breakfast was well laid out for all the wedding party guests, however as the reception forgot to mention to guests when booking in ( and did not advise breakfast times on the hotel room card) several guests were rather late . We did not manage to check out the Spa facilities, so will have to make another trip to Wood hall to try them out. Well done to all the staff who worked hard to ensure that guests enjoyed their stay.

Absolutely fantastic day. The full body massage was excellent, really felt relaxed, I didn't think 55 minutes would go so quick, the food, well I really enjoyed it, also the best chips. Thank you for a lovely day on my birthday xxx
"Once upon a time..."
After reading negative reviews about this hotel,it became obvious that there is simply no pleasing some people. The more you read their reviews it becomes obvious that their statements are transparent and sheds more light on the indovidual writing it than it does of the destination. I stayed here back in 2012 and since then my parents have stayed in 2013 upon my recommendation. The rooms are simply majestic. I resided in an executive suite both pre and post wedding and although my view wasnt anything spectacular as it was at the rear of the hotel, this in no way subdued my experience of grandeur and ability to feel whisked to far off places. The hotel is simply majestic. I felt like royalty, and the photographic evidence can only elict a fraction of what delights greet you at Wood Hall Hotel and spa Ohh and if its good enough for the likes of 007 then you know what delights will greet you and im sure that you will agree that the invividuals who without evidence whom manufacture unreliable reports should take their heads out of their derrière and admit that they are simply the competition or Veruca Salt incarnate. Simply put this is disney brough to life :)
