"Imposing Hotel in glorious Yorkshire country side."
Staff on desk very helpful good meal on Thursday night but quite expensive for what it was. Arrival of big wedding party on Friday morning and when we returned in the evening car park closed off not a lot of enjoyment for any one else. BUT bed not made up waste bins still full in the room. So we told the desk and while we were out that night (you would […] not want to stay at the hotel for a meal with the large wedding party who were have a very good time) we asked them to make up the bed and clean the room. When we returned the cover were thrown over the bed but it was not made up, which my wife kindly did, and the milk in the jug on the dressing table now resembled yoghurt, pretty bad really! "Nice hotel great surroundings"
As a whole had a really lovely stay, my husband and I stayed for 2 nights to celebrate a special birthday and a last break before our first baby arrives early may. The hotel very kindly upgraded us to a suite which was very comfortable. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and has a lovely little spa attached. Breakfast was beautiful with a great […] menu to choose from and we spent an evening just relaxing in the library in front of an amazing log fire. I only have a couple of negatives, mostly the cleanliness of the room. The living space needed a good dusting and the couch was all stained which was a shame because apart from this I would have given full marks. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
What a great hotel. Staff were excellent as was our room. Spent some time in spa which was very relaxing. Ate in restaurant in evening and couldn't fault it, food and service were excellent. Can't wait to visit again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you are looking for something special this hotel cannot really be beaten - from everything from the minute we arrived to when we left nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Rooms are luxurious with nice touches like soft seating, magazines and a flat screen tv that is big enough to see. Food and the restaurant is top class - you would not be […] disappointed. "poor service and standard of hot food at breakfast"
Lovely hotel. Unfortunately the service we received at breakfast was very disappointing and the hot food we were served was overcooked and cold. Also very cheap bathroom fitting (toilet roll holder)Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel but slow staff"
Hotel has a lovely garden and the room was comfortable. The food was tasty but the staff were slow. Staff pleasant but not on the ball enough for the quality of hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good quality country hotel"
Stayed one night for a friends wedding reception. Everything went according to plan and was well organised there was plenty of staff available and no hiccups. The staff, without exception were helpful, polite without being OTT. The only downside was the price of the drinks which were excessive even taking into account the type of hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Top Location, Great Hotel, Wonderful Service"
I chose the Wood Hall Spa as a place in Yorkshire near to York, Harrogate, Leeds and lots of other tourist attractions. I was right. It was an excellent choice. The hotel was first-class with ALL the staff eager, willing and able to please. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent continental and cooked breakfast served in the delightful Restaurant. […] Plenty to do around Wetherby including walks from the Hotel recommended by the well-experienced staff. We had an excellent 2 Rosette dinner at the Hotel during the week which was excellently cooked and presented with attentive and knowledgeable waiting staff. All in all a very good break. Onl;y a pity we didn't get to enjoy the lovely spa and pool facilities - there just wasn't time! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for a quiet get away"
The standard of the hotel is excellent. The rooms are very comfortable and it is very quiet. It is a venue to get away from it all and to relax. The spa is decent, although the gym is rather dated. The food is good, although the service in the dining room is poor. Breakfast was notably poor. After receiving just some toast and tea in 40 minutes (despite […] an adundance fo staff), we chose to leave without our main breakfast. In fairness, the response by the manager after we complained was excellent. I cannot fault this at all and it was very pleasing. I would though recommend room service, which was timely and to a good quality. Wetherby and numerous villages are nearly by. I would recommend the Fox and Hounds pub (just outside Wetherby) and Mango in Wetherby itself. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Superb wedding venue!"

We have just celebrated a family wedding here & from arrival to departure it was amazing. Well organised, superb staff, lovely rooms, great food. Nothing was too much trouble. We arrived on Friday for the Saturday wedding(another wedding was taking place on the Friday), so staff ensured that the lounge was for non wedding guests. At breakfast on Saturday we were seated in another room. Little things make all the difference! My newspaper was not delivered on the Saturday, no problem, a staff member popped to the newsagent! This is an amazing wedding venue, superb views over the valley, plenty of outdoor space for photographs.

I had my wedding at Wood hall in July 2014 and it was as they say the best day of my life. From going to view Wood hall when picking our venue right through to our big day. Wood hall staff couldn't of done enough. Becky was a credit to the team at Wood hall as our wedding planner helping and supporting us throughout the 12 months of planning. On our big day all of the staff were faultless attending to all our guests needs in anyway possible. The setting is picturesque especially the Italian gardens. The rooms are comfortable and spotless. Food was enjoyed to a high standard by all our guests. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of Wood hall team for making our day perfect.
"Lovely hotel in a very quiet setting."

My wife & I stayed here for two nights. Whilst she attended a work conference I had to entertain myself. We stayed in the "Chestnut" room in the old part of the house, which was lovely - comfortable, spacious & well appointed. There are various large rooms in the old part , all named, as well as numbered rooms in the newer part of the hotel, which I suspect are more like normal hotel rooms. The Spa has a good size pool with jacuzzi and steam room. There is also a small gym which appeared to be well equipped. Spa treatments were also available, but I didn't partake. The hotel is surrounded by lovely countryside and the hotel has written up 2 walks which are well worth the effort. I did both on different days and took in some marvellous views and scenery. The food was very good as was the service. I think my wife's conference went well too!
"Lovely Hotel, excellent service"

If you are looking for a lovely hotel with great service I would highly recommend. We stayed here after our wedding and on arrival the reception staff could not have been more helpful and accomodating, we booked into one of the executive rooms and it was well appointed and had lots of space to relax in, the large bathroom and four poster bed both as shown on the website. The hotel had a wedding taking place the night we stayed but this did not have any impact on us, the front reception room had been reserved for non wedding guests, we enjoyed a meal in the hotel restaurant which was delicious. Breakfast in the morning was also excellent lots of options on offer. Would highly recommend and would be happy to stay again! Thank you to all the staff and management for a lovely stay.
"Afternoon tea - super"
09/01/14 JuicyLucyMarkie York
We enjoyed afternoon tea at Wood Hall, Sunday 31st August. We arrived via the Wetherby 10K run and the boys came after a 3 hour cycle ride. The Spa staff were very obliging letting us use their changing facilities before we went into the hotel. Afternoon tea was a dainty affair with a choice of teas, four types of sandwiches, a beautiful rhubarb scone and miniature cakes. The cakes were lovely not large cakes cut small but tempting raspberry shortcakes, mille feuilles and chocolate layers. Service was attentive and courteous, we will be back very soon. The view from the lounge is fantastic and can be enjoyed from the comfy sofas.

My wife and I returned to this hotel last week after a recent wedding. We were not disappointed upon our return. We have recently had our first child and decided to get away for the night as a treat. As this was our first trip away with our newborn, we were prepared for every eventuality, and as a result probably packed as much as we did for our two week holiday to Egypt. I would particularly like to thank Che. Right from the initial telephone booking, to assisting with our many bags to our stunning suite, and regular hellos in passing, Che was a credit to the hotel, and has firmly renewed our high expectations of beautiful Wood Hall. I would also like to comment on the delicious food both at dinner and breakfast. We shall be returning!!
"5 star treatment"

Ok, if you are reading this you are trying to decide whether to stay at this hotel, so in the interests of full disclosure I have to say this stay was a free night to make up for a very poor earlier stay. The problem was the service, not the hotel it self, so this review will just focus on our most recent trip. The hotel is in the most idyllic setting - couldn't be better! There are some lovely walks in the area surrounding the hotel and I would highly recommend you give one (or more) a try. The room was great. We had a front facing room although strictly speaking this was more side facing towards the car park, but still very nice. Special mention for the comfortable bed and large screen TV. Clean enough too. Only small suggestion is that the cupboard where the kettle plugs in could use a light, but you can cope without.. The food at diner was very good, with a good range of vegetarian choice. As a special touch my dessert plate had "welcome back" written on in chocolate. Breakfast too was good, with a good selection to choose from - I only wish it had been colder so I could have tried the porridge with Drambuie! All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly - many thanks to Claire for printing us a map for our onward journey and Gordon for checking our stay had been pleasant. The spa area is quite small but adequate. No sauna but a nice hot tub and steam room. Small changing rooms and horror of horrors no plug for my straighteners. Nice reception area with complimentary tea and coffee. There are lots of good deals to be had on the internet so give this hotel a go!
"Could not have asked for more!!"

My husband and I stayed for what unfortunately was just the one night at the Wood Hall Hotel, but we will most definitely return. From arrival to departure we couldn't have been more delighted, with not just the hotel but the staff as well who all wore smiles and were charming and helpful in every way. We needed somewhere to stay as we were visiting York races and when this hotel appeared on the Secret Escapes website it was ideal and we were not disappointed. The room although a standard one was roomy and bright and clean with everything we could have wished for. The TV seemed to have a problem when we got there but we had been in the room less than five minutes when we had a call from the front desk to make sure that the room was satisfactory and when we said that there seemed a problem with the TV I think it must have taken about 3 minutes for a lovely young man called Danny to appear to correct any issues we had. He was so helpful and wanted to know if there was anything else we needed and when I asked for fresh milk it was no problem and he bought it when he said he would, brilliant lovely Yorkshire and proud of it. An asset to any establishment. We slept well in the very comfy beds and woke to a well made and hot breakfast that was served and not buffet style which made a pleasant change, everything was fresh and made to order. Oh yes I forgot to mention 'Bobby the badger' who is used as a do not disturb sign, He is also for sale and I just could not come home without him, but I will take him back for a visit some time, soon I hope!!
"Not as good as you'd expect"
08/17/14 pumpypete Coventry, United Kingdom
We only stopped for one night. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. On the way to room I noticed that the communal areas where a little grubby. The room its self was ok but not really as "special" as you'd expect. Could really benefit from a freshen up. Breakfast was ok but a buffet style doesnt really cut it at this level of accommodation. A real shame as its a beautiful location with staff that work hard to make your stay special.
"Well worth the money"
