"Wood Hall Hotel and Spa"
In Yorkshire for mid week break. Hotel was fabulous and spa facilities excellent. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food very good but portions small except of breakfast which was a feast. That aside would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location - beautiful Georgian style hotel"
Hotel Location superb, wonderful panoramic views , suited us very well. Service very good, hotel amenities excellent. Overall cleanliness good. Breakfast was well presented with a large choice of foods to cater for all tastes in elegant restaurant. We did not have evening meals at the hotel so cannot report on this. The Hotel exceeded our expectations […] and we would definitely stay there again should the opportunity arise. A most enjoyable and memorable stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Imposing Hotel in glorious Yorkshire country side."
Staff on desk very helpful good meal on Thursday night but quite expensive for what it was. Arrival of big wedding party on Friday morning and when we returned in the evening car park closed off not a lot of enjoyment for any one else. BUT bed not made up waste bins still full in the room. So we told the desk and while we were out that night (you would […] not want to stay at the hotel for a meal with the large wedding party who were have a very good time) we asked them to make up the bed and clean the room. When we returned the cover were thrown over the bed but it was not made up, which my wife kindly did, and the milk in the jug on the dressing table now resembled yoghurt, pretty bad really! "Nice hotel great surroundings"
As a whole had a really lovely stay, my husband and I stayed for 2 nights to celebrate a special birthday and a last break before our first baby arrives early may. The hotel very kindly upgraded us to a suite which was very comfortable. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and has a lovely little spa attached. Breakfast was beautiful with a great […] menu to choose from and we spent an evening just relaxing in the library in front of an amazing log fire. I only have a couple of negatives, mostly the cleanliness of the room. The living space needed a good dusting and the couch was all stained which was a shame because apart from this I would have given full marks. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
What a great hotel. Staff were excellent as was our room. Spent some time in spa which was very relaxing. Ate in restaurant in evening and couldn't fault it, food and service were excellent. Can't wait to visit again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you are looking for something special this hotel cannot really be beaten - from everything from the minute we arrived to when we left nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Rooms are luxurious with nice touches like soft seating, magazines and a flat screen tv that is big enough to see. Food and the restaurant is top class - you would not be […] disappointed. "poor service and standard of hot food at breakfast"
Lovely hotel. Unfortunately the service we received at breakfast was very disappointing and the hot food we were served was overcooked and cold. Also very cheap bathroom fitting (toilet roll holder)Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel but slow staff"
Hotel has a lovely garden and the room was comfortable. The food was tasty but the staff were slow. Staff pleasant but not on the ball enough for the quality of hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good quality country hotel"
Stayed one night for a friends wedding reception. Everything went according to plan and was well organised there was plenty of staff available and no hiccups. The staff, without exception were helpful, polite without being OTT. The only downside was the price of the drinks which were excessive even taking into account the type of hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Top Location, Great Hotel, Wonderful Service"
I chose the Wood Hall Spa as a place in Yorkshire near to York, Harrogate, Leeds and lots of other tourist attractions. I was right. It was an excellent choice. The hotel was first-class with ALL the staff eager, willing and able to please. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent continental and cooked breakfast served in the delightful Restaurant. […] Plenty to do around Wetherby including walks from the Hotel recommended by the well-experienced staff. We had an excellent 2 Rosette dinner at the Hotel during the week which was excellently cooked and presented with attentive and knowledgeable waiting staff. All in all a very good break. Onl;y a pity we didn't get to enjoy the lovely spa and pool facilities - there just wasn't time! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for a quiet get away"
The standard of the hotel is excellent. The rooms are very comfortable and it is very quiet. It is a venue to get away from it all and to relax. The spa is decent, although the gym is rather dated. The food is good, although the service in the dining room is poor. Breakfast was notably poor. After receiving just some toast and tea in 40 minutes (despite […] an adundance fo staff), we chose to leave without our main breakfast. In fairness, the response by the manager after we complained was excellent. I cannot fault this at all and it was very pleasing. I would though recommend room service, which was timely and to a good quality. Wetherby and numerous villages are nearly by. I would recommend the Fox and Hounds pub (just outside Wetherby) and Mango in Wetherby itself. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Our family met here for a Christmas lunch and we could not fault it. The food was good as was the service. The staff were very professional and welcoming. Nothing was a problem. We definitely would recommend this hotel and will be returning in the future.

"Could be so much better"
12/01/14 VAL C York, United Kingdom
Just arrived home from a Spa Break with three friends. One the positive side Wood Hall is in a beautiful setting and the rooms at the hotel were really lovely. The facial was lovely too. As one of us has mobility problems we were given a free upgrade to executive rooms which was really kind. Most of the staff were really helpful. We arrived to find there was a wedding on (on a Sunday) and had to walk right through all the guests, and photographer, to check in. Martin, who took us to out rooms, was really pleasant and very helpful. We then went to check the spa out and what a disappointment. Firstly you have to go outside across a walkway to access it. Secondly it's tiny, there is only a very narrow walkway around the pool, with only four loungers but not enough room to put them all together. The loungers were side on as this is the only way they would fit in. The changing room was a joke. There wasn't actually room to get changed withoút people coming out of the pool pushing past you. The showers and the one changing cubicle could hardly be called roomy either. It was so poor we didn't even use it the next day when we had our treatments booked. Three of us ordered cream teas which were advertised as Rhubarb scones. We were served four small cherry scones and two small cheese scones (cheese scones with clotted cream and jam?? - there was no butter served) Not a bit of rhubarb to be seen. At £9 each this was disappointing. Dinner was also very disappointing and very overpriced. One of us ordered lamb shank which was delicious and the rest of us ordered turkey with butternut squash and chestnuts, no butternut squash on mine and two very small bits on the other two. The turkey was in rounds and was extremely dry. I had to ask for more gravy to be able to eat it. As veg was on the menu as seperate side dishes we ordered a selection of four but when our meals came they already had veg with them. You would have thought the waitress would have pointed this out to us at the time of ordering as all this was wasted. The Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was £29. Two of us had deserts of Mango Panecotta at £8 per portion. When it came it was three small rounds of panecotta, which looked like pats of butter, and a few pieces of mango. All of it would have fitted onto two desert spoons. The whole bill for the evening meal including one bottle of wine came to just short £200. The dining room was so quiet we were whispering. There just wasn't any atmosphere despite there being quite a few other guests. Such a shame that they can't get this right as it is a beautiful hotel.

Family gathering for my mothers 80th B'day. Dad booked private room for 12 people. Very well organised. The food was excellent and the staff were professional, efficient and looked after us fairly well. Although we were in a remote hotel location and service was not always on hand. The venue is beautiful and perfectly away from it all. Wedding was on whilst we were there and it is obviously ideal for that sort of event. Would happily return
"Another great Handpicked hotel."

We booked an autumn break at Crathorne Hall hotel Sunday the 9th Nov until Mon 10th. We didn't find out until we were about to set off that Crathorne was closed due to a fire early October. We only found out when my husband had a look at the web page for a postcode on the actual day. We phoned the headoffice and they confirmed our fears. They eventually booked us into Wood Hall Hotel which is one we had been meaning to try. We were not disappointed, the hotel looks very grand as you approach with fabulous views. The reception staff are very welcoming and the rest of the staff were very attentive, pleasant and professional. We had a classic room which was clean, comfortable with lovely decor. There is the usual tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, shampoo, shower gel everything you would need. Dinner is served in a beautiful georgian dining room. The food was absolutely amazing and service second to non. I cannot fault this hotel at all and we have been well and truly spoilt after a dodgy start.
"Fantastic for our unforgettable wedding day."

My wife and I chose to get married at Wood Hall in late October on the strength of its location, tasteful mix of modern / traditional decor throughout and the value of the package compared to other venues (what can I say, we're tight Yorkshirefolk). We made the right decision. Our co-ordinator Rachel was pro-active, prompt at responding to questions and calm at every stage. On the weekend itself, Martin the concierge was on hand to help us and our guests with even the smallest of enquiries and the rest of the staff were fantastic in making sure everything ran smoothly.Luckily we also got a sunny early Autumn day, meaning our photos will show off Wood Hall's unsurpassed setting at its best. Allowing all of our guests to have breakfast together in our own area the next day was an especially nice touch. There were a couple of minor niggles, including - as others have said - many of the rooms being far too warm (the hotel knows about this and is working towards a solution). I am pleased to say I have dealt with the hotel manager Gordon regarding the areas that were slightly disappointing and he has responded quickly and resolved everything to our satisfaction, enforcing our view that all of the team work really hard to give the best possible service. All in all, we had an absolutely magical day at Wood Hall with many of our guests commenting on how special the hotel is and we'll always look back on it with fondness. I also can't thank the team enough for their hospitality as we were leaving and one of the bridesmaid's parents were involved in a collision on the drive; Wood Hall provided tea, coffee and use of their drawing room and phones to sort everything out. We look forward to returning to a place that will always hold special memories!

Most amazing setting for our friends wedding, but also the hotel was just spot on. We had a room in the cottage which was just outside the main hotel, lovely room, massive bed but well thought out room and bathroom. Iron and ironing board were in the wardrobe if needed, no need to ask. We loved the badger so we bought one. Lovely grounds to walk around in. Hotel staff couldn't have been better.
We stayed at woodhall for a wedding, with great expectations, our room was not available until about 4. 30 and we had to get ready in another guests room. When our room was ready I was surprised to find 2 empty wine bottle behind the bathroom door. There was a lamp right in the doorway to the bathroom as you went up a step to the bathroom and was quite dangerous in the night. Although it was a Sunday the breakfast was quite late. Apart from that the wedding was a bit drawn out and could have done with being shorter The bed was quite comfortable. The staff later in the day were competent enough. Pretty average stay

Excellent and friendly staff, cakes and scones lovely, sandwiches very good but would prefer to choose fillings (additions such as mustard and mayonnaise for example not every ones taste) Over all a wonderful experience.
