The hotel had undergone recent renovations/upgrades, so everything was new and clean. The room was very welcoming - loved the bright white comforters and the multitude of various pillows (made it easy to find one that was "just right" to sleep on). Excellent job, Econo Lodge!!

Very plain rooms, but it's a new building and it's clean. Its affordable, but make sure you lock your cars and take your valuables inside. It's a super sketchy neighborhood.

The Econolodge is a nicely decorated, the continental breakfast is good, and the beds are comfortable. Unfortunately I couldn't sleep because the walls are paper-thin!! We were awake until 2a.m. because of some rude neighbors (kids whose parents were either not there or didn't care that they were banging doors and using foul language in the halls). […] If you are coming to go to the fair or to Adventureland you need your sleep at night!!! Request a room away from the annoying elevator that announces "going up" or "going down" (duh). My husband was using goggles in the pool and came up disgusted by how much dirt was in the bottom of the pool. I was really grossed out by the cess pool right outside the entrance (a gigantic city reservoir with a clogged drain). If you HAVE to be close to something, it's just o.k. but I won't be going here again. Read more

It is nicely located, right across the street from the State Fair grounds and several close by attractions. The rooms were clean and comfortable. A little smaller than they looked in the pictures. Pool/Spa area was clean.

Eric was very helpful and very patient with all the customers and kids running around. He was the nicest of all the workers we encountered. The rooms were small and crowded, didn like having no room to move the desk chari without running into the bed and having the other bed right up against the heat./air conditioner

I reserved this hotel because it was next to the fairgrounds where the NAIA wrestling tournament was held. The check in people were very busy when I went to check in at 1500. they were dealing with people without reservations and since I had a reservation I waited, when I checked in they were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and was […] kept clean during my entire stay. My sister and brother also had rooms and they were also very clean and kept clean. The cookies they made at night were very good. The hotel was within walking distance of fairground events where the Naia wrestling tournament was held. There is a very good diner just down the street and the night we ordered pizza it arrived within as 1/2 hour of ordering it and was hot. I would definately stay at this hotel agian and recommend it for all people. Read more

I have stayed at this hotel twice and been comfortable there in the room and hotel in general. The breakfast is better than a typical continental breakfast, but you should get there early so it doesn't disappear quick. My only worry when staying at this hotel is that somebody will break in to my car. I noticed broken glass in one of the dark back corners […] on this stay. So, park under a light near the front door if possible. I didn't see any cameras outside on the parking lot. Read more

Property is dated but okay. My room was clean. I would never stay here or recommend because the housekeeping staff ignored my DO NOT DISTURB sign and attempted several times to gain access prior to check-out time. Very rude about this. Front desk called and I informed them that I would be out at check-out time and I was actually out half an hour before. […] I was checking out on Sunday and I seriously doubt the place was going to fill up Sunday night. If housekeeping couldn't work past 10am then they should have blocked the room for that night and cleaned it on Monday. Customer service was absolutely lacking. Anytime we needed anything from the front desk, check-in, check-out, etc, we had to wait for five minutes minimum before someone showed up to ask us what we wanted without so much as an apology. The employees were always eating when they were helping us also. Breakfast was a complete joke. Stale english muffins, […] cheerios, or make your own waffle was all that was offered. We enjoyed our stay. There was a mix up with our reservation but both the hotel and Expedia worked things out and we had a great stay. Whenever there are activities at the Iowa State Fair Grounds, this is the most convenient hotel to the property. Their breakfast was delicious.

Bed so hard that I would of slept better on the floor. Parking lot so small that when they are full not everyone can park in the parking lot. We were pulling a trailer when we arrived and we were quickly told that we could not park a trailer in their lot. Later on trailers were parked in their lot. We left to get some supper and when we returned there […] was no room to park. Staff told us we could park on the street but not much else they could do. Really feel for what I was charged for room, I should have a least been able to park in their lot. Rate was over priced for what we got. Two things I will never do again. I had a state competition and took my team to stay at this hotel. It had a much higher rating on the website than it does now. Reviews even looked good. I chose this hotel because of the price (school did not pay, we had to), location, and reviews all together. When we got there, the receptionists were bored and watching TV. They did treat us well […] though. I got our rooms and one of the chaperones had a terrible time. Their room had no running water and the room they offered next from their "ready" list was a mess. To keep all of our team together, they had to move all of the rooms to a new floor. Then, the room that poor group got did not have enough towels. Another room, had liquid splatters behind the end-table. Girls did not appreciate that the hotel was across the street from a bar. On the other hand, my room was just fine. I enjoyed my stay, but the girls of my team did not. Read more
