The hotel/Aparthotel was huge. I was disappointed about being on the ground floor, but other than that it was very good. I would have appreciated the presence of UHT milk with the sachets of coffee. The kitchen was fully equipped with a cooker, microwave, kettle and fridge - could have happily fit four people in the room - which at the rate I paid a night would have been well cheap! The bathrooms were clean, plenty of towels and, importantly free wifi - although one does have to sign up to a website. One passcode per device, but relatively fast.

Stayed here the night before flying out of Manchester airport. The hotel is very convenient to the airport being within an 8 minute drive. The beds were comfortable, the room clean the tv worked all was good. We ate at the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and were pleasantly surprised at the level of quality and presentation. Dinner was reasonably priced for the quality of the food. The breakfast buffet well stocked and the waitstaff very attentive.

The Holiday Inn Express was within walking distance to most anything in downtown Manchester. It was clean, quiet, & cozy, the staff was great and very nice.

The rooms were small but comfortable, walking distance from places to eat and transportation (bus, tram). The pelican pub is right in front of the lodge which is great! Unfortunately for my 11day stay it was closed half the time due to re modeling, but the time I was at the pub I enjoyed very much. Would have given the lodge a 5 but the hot water didn't work for about 2-3.days. Even with that I would definitely stay here again.

The Etrop Grange was beautiful inside & out. The rooms were clean & cozy, bed was comfortable. Staff was very friendly & quite helpful. The breakfast was wonderful. I would stay there again.

"Romantic Weekend"
Took my partner their for her Birthday, she loved it. Really nice hotel, room was a great size and very well maintained. Staff were more than helpful and polite. Facitilies were good, shame there was no pool or jacusie. Parking lot not the easiest to find. Will stay at Macdonald again.
"my first choice when staying in manchester"
My wife and I stay in Machester every couple of months and this is favourite place to stay. It's centrally located, has a car park, great modern well sized rooms with views over the skyline and all at a very reasonalbe price. If I have a grumble, and it's only a small one, the bar and restaurant areas are a bit soulless.

We had a lovely time at the hotel. The room was very spacious with a fab view of Manchester. It was very close to the railway station, which was brill for us. The staff where very helpful and friendly and made us welcome. Breakfast was excellent (especially the Black Pudding),plenty of choice. All in all a great stay,would definately go back,,.

Stayed here Sat and Sun night for a conference I was attending. I got a bit of a snobby look when I turned up in jeans and trainers, but apart from that service was excellent. The hotel's location is amazing, right next to the train station, hence ideal after a long journey. I found a great room rate on this site, which made the stay definitely worth it, but would not have paid the full price on the hotel's own site, simply because it was for just one night, after a gig. The bathroom […] was very new and stylish, but the room had a few retro features, like the very outdated (but still functional) hairdryer, which was more amusing rather than annoying. My girlfriend and I were prompted to stay at MacDonald Manchester by the positive reviews on this site, and we were not disappointed. The staff were polite and welcoming and the room was very large and as well equipped as a much more expensive hotel. The breakfast which was available for an additional £10 per person was great too. The only slight problem […] was the location. It's only about 7 minutes walk from the city centre, but it's an ugly walk to be honest, around the back of Piccadilly. Location wise it falls short of hotels like Abode and The Midland, but the room is a class above those hotels. It really depends on what's most important for you. If you want the doors of your hotel to open straight out into the heart of Manchester then you can pay a lot more to stay at The Renaissance. If you don't mind being a few minutes away (by foot) then MacDonald offers similar comfort and class for a fraction of the price. Highly recommended. Read more

Was OK but expected so much more, a little restrictive and on the point of being unhelpful. Small things, sorry not special coffee with room service, only filter coffee. I i wanted to go down to the bar I can get one myself? And with one of the single most expensive tray charges I have seen £5.00 I expect a bit more. This was our fourth stay, and we have not been disappointed. The staff are the friendliest we have seen and nothing is too much trouble, helping with directions, places to go, taxis etc. Excited to be booked in again next week for my birthday as it always feels like a special experience. Would recommend to anyone for business or pleasure.

Bit of commotion around reception area, when trying to check-in. Eventually got checked-in and staff were friendly enough. Mini bar dirty inside and not stocked. Too much effort to complain after travelling. Some wear and tear around room/bathroom. Expect a bit better for 4* Very convenient location.

I chose this hotel due to it's central location as I had business appointments nearby. Generally the quality of this hotel was very good , it is modern and well serviced. Breakfast service is a little slow but considering the size of this hotel it's hardly surprising. \the real shock is the parking charge. I have now stayed at the Macdonalds on two occasions and the quality of the room and service was very good. The rooms on both visits were sumptuous and made me wish I was spending more time just in the room. Next time I will! "Nice hotel, convenient for my needs"
This is a nice hotel and very close to Manchester Piccadilly station which makes it ideal for somewhere to crash when you are travelling on business. It was disappointing that the gym was closed on my arrival in the evening. I travel all around the world and hotel gyms are normally open much longer hours. I booked this hotel because it had a gym and […] with an early start the following day I didn't get to use it. The room was nice however the TV was a little small given how far away you are when in bed. There was a lot of room so I would suggest a sofa or lounge area in the room would be better. I would suggest you offer more flexible pricing on the cost of breakfast. My bowl of granola and a coffee were very expensive being priced the same as a full english. Read more

Me and my boyfriend stayed here while we went to see a United game as it was convenient to us to stay as it was at the weekend and he is from america so we could explore as well. The hotel is right off mancunian way and at first i thought it would be nosey but as soon as we entered our HUGE room it was so quiet. We had an superior room and the views […] were amazing. The room was clean and comfy. One of the best hotels we've stayed in and we've stayed in alot of hotels around the world. The Staff we're friendly and there was no job too small. The Parking was secure but a little steep when there's a parking lot just opposite but it wasn't secure, so we opted for the secure option! We ordered room service after the game and it was the best steak ive had in a LONG time. I would go here again and recommend it to anyone. Walk able distance to picadilly, and china town. Stayed at this hotel previously, rooms are very comfortable and spacious. Great service however hotel needs to sort out its lifts. Long waits as one lift was out of service. This has happened before. Otherwise ideal location and good customer service
