Rubinstein Residence - Krakow

Was very much looking forward to staying in this historic and meaningful area of Krakow. So disappointment! The positives being great location, fabulous breakfast included and fabulous bathroom! The negatives; horrible hotel staff, with very poor English, awful, dingy and noisy bedroom, bed was horrid (soft cheap mattress). very well located and surrounding atmosphere. however, for a 4 star hotel not to have a garbage basket for newspaper and similar stuff disposal, room cleaning without paying attention to resupply soap or shampoo, are not acceptable. on the other hand, the service by the reception desk were very good.

I have so much that I would like to say about this absolutely wonderful hotel and staff. The location was perfect. I loved the Hotel Rubinstein. As soon as we arrived we were warmly greated by the hotel staff. They were extremely accomodating and very helpful. The restaurant was very good. Breakfast was great! One of the bell staff even walked with me to a parking lot around the corner in order to make sure I found my way back to the hotel. This is an old hotel with very quaint furnishings. The room is a bit dark but comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and updated. The breakfast buffet was by far the best we have encountered in Europe so far. We would recommend this hotel for anyone.

Wonderful location. Eat and drink on square in front of the hotel. You can walk to all the major sites or take a tour (golf cart) ride to them. The hosts were freindlhy and helpful and made good friends with other travelers. Don't miss watching the stars on the roof. Cheers

We've traveled widely but did not know what to expect in Poland. The hotel was a fully and recently renovated building right on the main square in the Jewish quarter. The quality of the room (including air conditioning) was excellent - spacious even by US standards. Breakfast was comprehensive pan-european (something for everyone). The Rubinstein was very good. It is an old building very tastefully renovated and it's a nice touch having the before and after photographs on display. I deliberately chose this hotel because it was in the Kazimierz district, the former Jewish area, full of history and character, and now full of good, interesting bars and cafes. It is also very well situated for Wawel Hill and the areas south of the river where Schindlers Factory, the former jewish Ghetto, Plac Bohaterow Getta, and the former Jewish […] concentration camp are - because Kazimierz is central to this very compact city. The Old Town is a medium walk or easy tram wide away, and we visited it several times, but I suspect if we had been staying in the Old Town itself we wouldn't have spent so much time in Kazimierz, and our visit would have been poorer for it. The hotel is right in the centre of the Kazimierz district, on the main street (small and full of character) surrounded by bars and restuarants. It is very clean and comfortable, and apart from the occasional moment when the bar/restaurant staff had trouble understanding us (I suspect it was the Australian accents!) communicating in English was straightforward. My one complaint is night-time noise: the rooms at the back of the hotel are a stone's throw away from a noisy and busy main road (the trams were particularly awful) so ask for a room at the front - the main square there is bustling but has little traffic noise as it is travelled mostly by pedestrians, a few cars, some electric tourist cars and the occasional horse carriage. There's some noise from people enjoying their meals, but that's tolerable. Read more

Had a really enjoyable stay at Hotel Rubinstein. The staff were very very helpful and friendly. Located in the Jewish Quarter there were many good restaurants all around. Had a brill breakfast every morning which set us up for the day. Would recomment this hotel and I would definately book there if I was coming back to Kracow!

When our taxi arrived at what the driver said was our hotel, I thought he was mistaken. I had no idea it was bang in the middle of the Jewish quarters - the Square of what was the old Jewish town. This hotel was fantastic and I was very satisfied with my stay. I had needed the weekend away for quite some time, and having built it up so much, I was worried the hotel would end up being an anti-climax. Fortunately, this was not the case. In particular, I had been nervous about making a booking through hotels.com and getting such a 'bargain' price, […] but now I'm a convert and have many new trips planned. The hotel is located right on a central square in the Jewish quarter, with a number of good restaurants right on the door step (go two doors down to an Italian/Jewish restaurant and order the beef carpaccio and duck!). The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed, extremely high levels of cleanliness and the room (as well as the hotel) was very tastefully decorated. In particular, the bathroom was gorgeous, the shower was powerful and the renovation of the whole place blended the modern with the historical. If I had to make a complaint about the room, it would be a tiny niggle - I couldn't find the minibar prices listed anywhere. Breakfast was exellent, with many choices (including smoked salmon, which always wins me over). If I had to make one criticism (and I feel I do because this review is a bit 'rave' at the moment), the waiter had to be asked to top up empty breakfast items, but even this he did quickly and with a smile. Perhaps the only thing other slightly negative thing I would say is that the Jacuzzi is a little 'unbubbly', even after I found out how to turn the jets on, and maybe a bit steep at around 5euros for an hour. Otherwise though, I personally had a brilliant stay, and I would recommend grabbing a bottle of red, taking it to the glass platform balcony on the roof and enjoying the magnificent view of Wawel castle. Das Hotel liegt in einer sehr angesagten Gegend von Krakau mit vielen Restaurants und Musikkneipen. Es ist individuell eingerichtet und verffügt über ein sehr gemütliches Restaurant mit ausgezeichneter Küche. Den Dachgarten mit Blick auf's Schloss -im Sommer kann man dort auich essen - fand ich besonders schön.
