"Great town, nice people."
Visited Taos for a wedding. Michael's downtown was great for breakfast!Genuine Expedia guest review
I booked my room thru Expedia then called the motel to make sure I booked a pet friendly room. The man who took my call was very nice & even reduced the pet rate of $20 a pet to $10 which was great since I had 2 dogs. When we got there the woman at the desk told me they did not have a pet friendly room & there was noting noted on the computer saying […] I booked one & of course no info on a reduced rate for the dogs. She would turn he computer to face me pointing to it saying there was no such notes! Very rude. She came up with a room finally but it was the worst night sleep ever. Bed was terrible, police came & searched the empty room next to ours, everything was bad. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice very little place"
This is our budget little place to stay in Taos. The folks that run this place are really nice. The place is old but well maintained, peaceful (not easy to do when you're across the road from Walmart) and remodeled very cute. We've stayed here before and will stay here again. Thanks, Gaspar & Co.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Will never stay here again."
Worn out mattress, noise from adjacent rooms, pot holes in parking lot, no air conditioning, ceiling fan too noisy to sleep under, no drapes, light entering room all night thru the blinds, old lumpy pillows, leaking tub faucet, over priced. Not a convenient location to Taos plaza.Genuine Expedia guest review
Staff acknowledged right away that the room I had reserved was unavailable due to a mechanical problem, but placed me in another room that was still nice (albeit no AC). They also offered to move me (without me asking) for the second night. All in all, front office staff made the visit a good one.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"This hotel is beyond outdated."
I booked a deluxe room, what I got was a very old, miserably appointed hovel. The bath tub was very small and the shower put out less than a meager drizzle that alternated from tepid to cold. There were no drapes on the window. The wall mounted air conditioner was extremely noisy and basically ineffectual. The TV was right out of the 60's. It appears […] that no one has told them about flat screens or HD TV. While other facilities offer breakfasts, this location has a small coffee pot and a few soggy granola bars. The ice maker in the far front of the property was able to produce three or four ice cubes per hour. The hot tub was a miserable rectangular hole in the ground. I will go back to Taos often but I will never go back to this dive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Deal for Adobe Hotel in Taos"
Had a wonderful time in Taos. Happy with our hotel stay. Enjoyed the tile countertops in the kitchenette and the tile floors near closet area and bathroom. Very big and roomy. Peaceful stay for a Fri and Sat night in Aug. Tried a unique cucumber/lemon drink offered at the front desk, had no sweetener and it was actually tolerable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"LOOKS NICE ON THE OUTSIDE"
I WOULDN'T STAY THERE AGAIN. TINY ROOMS IN NEEDS OF MAJOR UPGRADES. OLD TV, DIRTY CARPETS, ICE MACHINE NOT EASILY ACCESSIBLE.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fun and funky!"
The yard and the landscape of the motel is lovely, the interior is adequate for sleeping and rest, not really for 'hanging out' because the room with two queen beds was small. However, that being said, one gets a feel for a prior era and "Taos' funk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place to stay for the night."
Friendly check-in, helpful. Office is closed at night - opens only at 8:30AM. Not practical if you are an early riser. Breakfast is extremely minimal.Genuine Expedia guest review
"UN responsive on site manger"
No hot water in the morning....management was told - said it would be hot son...it was not....Manager says he had ongoing problems w/ pilot light.....So, if he knew about the pilot light problem - then he gets up at 0500 and checks it...and not wait until somebody complains...Genuine Expedia guest review
Front desk checkin was great!! The lady there was Karen. Very friendly!! Older place. It has seen it's years but we enjoyed our stay. Nice grass court yard with tables and chairs. Relaxing! We really enjoyed it. No Hair dryer but front desk provided one. Some people complain about the TV but hey they work! Not a flat screen. No big deal. Right down […] the street from the Plaza. I wanted to like this hotel. The outside is very cute and the landscaping is thoughtful. But the room was very worn down and needed new blinds, comfortor, etc. The bed was very uncomfortable, and it was loud outside our window--which we wanted to leave open because the room was very stuffy. Lots of motorcyle people (no offense) just loud. And the worst […] part: the hottub was closed for maintenance--one of the main reasons I booked this hotel! "Basic and good"
The lodge management was very nice and friendly. We were a bit unhappy with the very uncomfortable mattresses which needed to be replaced. I wanted to purchase a foam mattress pad just so I could sleep better. The room could definitely use a paint job. Carpets were not very clean, either. It was a basic room, and suited our needs in a pinch, minus the […] comfort. Location was great. "Local cultural flair"
When we arrived, there was a mixup with our room. Somehow the desk clerk stated Expedia mixed up the type of room that was reserved. We thought the room we were given was beautiful with its beautiful tilework, but not the size and was without the needed refrigerator. The staff worked diligently to change our room. Everyone was very polite and eager […] to please. We were given a larger room, even larger than we had reserved. The whole area was quiet and well taken care of. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Disappointing place to stay"
The blanket on the bed had to replaced as it was very dirty, the floors looked like they hadn't been swept, there were only two very small lights in the room, making it difficult to see. No screen on the window in the bathroom. Someone left their contact behind on the night stand, dirty, dirty. The people in the room next door sat outside their door […] until midnight drinking beer and making it difficult to get ant sleep. Very disappointing, the online pictures were deceiving. A nice surprise. Very nice ambience at a very reasonable price. We had a room off the park-like grass oval near the entrance. The oval is surrounded by rooms, which probably are the best. Around the back are a newer(?) set of rooms that are more generic and without the ambience of those on the oval. We loved our stay at the Sun God Lodge. The classic '50s motor inn vibe runs strong. Lots of cool southwest detail in our room which was comfortable, clean and cozy. I booked this room at the last minute (1 week) for a family reunion. I liked the price, and when we arrived in Taos, I knew I would be running late due to the reunion. The person that answered the phone was very pleasant and customer service oriented. I explained we would be late checking in. I was concerned about my room being given away due to the […] Pow Wow in town thata weekend. He assured me that would not be the case. He told me he would personally be there until 11pm. I loved the motel, very clean, comfortable. It is very old so they still have old style T.V. in them, but I really did not go to watch T.V. so that was fine. It is a moderate climate so there is not much use for air conditioning, but I felt like I needed some. It is a beautiful place with a very lovely courtyard. From he courtyard we watched the most […] beautiful fire works display that I have seen in years. It is so quaint, and cozy that you feel totally relaxed. "A pretty, green, comfy, mellow retreat in Taos"
My two 20-something kids and I had never been to Taos. We picked the Sun God out of an old Frommer's guide, figuring it would be just adequate. So we didn't expect to be charmed by the decor--a rising sun motif carved into the lovely, new furniture in a rustic, New Mexican style; towel racks made to look like small birch boughs; a pretty tiled counter […] in the kitchenette with stools with that pretty, rising sun carving. Adobe walls with little alcoves for statues. It was hot during our June stay and one day we had a nice lunch outdoors (plenty of takeout nearby; we went to the supermarket up the road) on the big, green lawn under some shade trees. A crow hopping around in a huge pine kept us entertained, and every now and then a little spray from the sprinklers would cool us off when a breeze came up. The folks in the office were very friendly and eager to ensure we enjoyed our stay, and the location was good--far enough from the plaza to be quiet and calm but close enough to zip back and forth quickly. Coffee and coffeemakers in the rooms, coffee and snacks in the office, lots of maps and brochures. I'd go back in a minute. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overall, great stay"
It's centrally located, very well maintained courtyard which is a great place to sit in the early morning and enjoy coffee or late evening glass of wine. "Want to use the Taos Ski Shuttle? Sun God Lodge!"
If you are a family of four, one of their kitchenettes with a murphy bed is a great option. we had two separate rooms with a microwave, coffee maker and one of the dorm sized mini fridges with a freezer compartment and kitchen sink with plates, silverware, and dish soap.. The kids liked the murphy bed, it was easy to convert the living area each evening, […] and the rooms stayed toasty warm even during a minus 20 degree cold snap. The reason we chose the Sun God was 1) price and 2) the Taos Ski Valley shuttle- which made it possible for the 3 skiers in our group to take the 45 minute ride to the mountain each morning, leaving the non skier with our car free to explore Taos on her own. This worked well, the shuttle dropped us right back at the room in the evening The hotel is an older model and is perfect if you want to help yourself and bring some of your own food in (Alberstons grocery is just down the street). They have good free wifi and free parking. If you want room service, an on site restaurant, or scenery, this is not the hotel for you. The staff were friendly but did leave the office unattended on occasion, we had to wait for them to check in the first day (1/2/2013) , and again when we needed their help during the week. They did send maintenance over to the room on two occasions when asked for extra bedding and towels without any problems, though, and they were very cooperative when we changed our plans - even with an Expedia prepaid reservation. "Quaint hotel with personalized touches"
My family and I stayed in a suite for 3 nights during the 2012/13 ski season. The suites have multiple rooms for added privacy and have personalized touches based on the southwestern sun god motif. The overall quality of the room was good, but there were some minor deferred maintenance issues (e.g., water faucet gaskets needed replacing, sticking doors, […] etc). I was surprised how warm the room was, even at -10 deg F outside. Exterior hot tub is nice after a full day of skiing but was challenging to use at below freezing temps. WiFi internet was included at no charge. There is also a city shuttle bus pickup at this hotel which runs directly to Taos Ski Valley ($1 charge each way). Very good value for the price. When I arrived before the normal check-in time, the room was ready because I called the day before citing my early 3 p.m. dinner at Thanksgiving. While I was waiting for my key cards, another couple did a quick check-in and got their cards. They were back in 5 minutes looking flustered and unhappy. They has opened the door to find a couple on the bed...it […] was the wrong room. The owner was very apologetic and took her time finding the correct card keys.
