It was a nice place. But it's not a 5 rating because it's not 5 stars. I think it would be good for groups who like to drink. The food was both good and bad.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
One of the best resorts in cabo, Great bed and linen, big room, The food was great! And the pools Wonderful!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Let me begin by letting you all know my planned 5 day visit to cabo azul only lasted 2 days before switching hotels. Lets begin with the check in. As my taxi pulled up to the front, my girlfriend and I's bags were unloaded by our driver with no bell boy to be found as we rolled in our own bags. The man who checked us in was somewhat friendly and claimed […] that while he prepared our keys, he would introduce us to the concierge. We were greeted by a man, who reminded me of a cheap used car salesman. This is just a cheap trick to try to entice you to attend a tour of the property in hopes you will buy a timeshare. The concierge's persistence was classless, as was his stories of how drunk he got at Mango Deck (tourist bar) the weekend before as he proceeded to lift his shirt and show us his peeling back (classless, once again). We were finally taken to our room which looked over a court yard of dirt and construction equipment. Although the pool was beautiful, it was filled with a drunk, barely-able to walk, Budweiser chugging crowd. This of course, I understand, is not able to be controlled by the hotel. BUT, what they can control is the service. We laid by the pool for 2 days straight, AND FOR 2 DAYS STRAIGHT, WE WERE NEVER ASKED IF WE WERE OK OR OFFERED A DRINK, NOT ONCE! We were forced to go to the swim up bar every time for a drink. We, for some reason, were forced to pay 3 separate checks for each individual item. After the 2nd night, I packed my bags and left. AWFUL! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location and worth every penny!"
This was our first time at staying at the Cabo Azul Resort. We arrived really early due to our flight but they let us checkin at noon ( standard checkin is at 4:00pm). The bell man and concierge were very friendly and accommodating. When I was reading the reviews I heard they were really pushy with the timeshare presentation when you checked in. We […] had no issue with this. We told them we were not interested in the presentation and they continued to check us in. The resort is beautiful and right on the beach. We spent most of the evenings by the pool enjoying the weather. They were in the middle of the Lobby construction but that was no issue during our stay. The hotel location is located about 30 mins from the main Cabo San Lucas tourist area. There are several beaches within a short driving distance to choose from. Great Resort and I definitely recommend everyone to stay here! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cabo Azul Paradise"
Loved this resort from second one. Its located directly across the street from shops and dining. The rooms are beautiful and the property is gorgeous and extremely well maintained. Everything about this resort is first class. The food and drinks were always delicious and perfectly made, although, of course, resort priced. My husband and I enjoyed the […] happy hour at the pool!! Activities for the kids at the Creature Club. The rooms were super clean and the design was really classy. Although, the lighting is a bit on the dark side for me, it created a relaxed feel. My son loved the Jacuzzi tub!! It was a perfect week in paradise at Cabo Azul. We will be back. "Cabo Azul Resort - an experience in itself!"
Staying at Cabo Azul is an experience in itself! We had never been to Cabo and booked this as a last minute deal and were wonderfully surprised by both the quality and the luxury of the entire place. Our one bed villa was spacious and immaculate, beautifully furnished with solid good quality furniture and classy fixtures and fittings. With a huge jet […] tub in the master bedroom and travertine tiling throughout it felt like a show home! Everything was a cut above and exceeded our expectations. Air conditioning was cool and fresh, bed sheets were exceptional quality and changed daily. Facilities provided were top quality and functioned well (fridge, washing m/c, coffee maker, microwave, HD TV in lounge and bedroom). We were on a ground floor villa and the patio area was spacious and clean, again with solid quality furniture. The poolside was were we spent most of our time - Ideal for couples, with three large interconnected pools and plenty of recliners and pods to enjoy them from, the in-pool bar was popular during happy hour. The gardens were immaculately kept and maintained also. At night the Azul takes on a magical feeling with flames and torches all around and central fire pits actually in the pools and around the hot tubs. We were there in quiet season (early August) so always had space and plenty of options were to hang out. No swimming in the sea though & there was construction - no negative impact for us. Overall this was one of the most relaxing vacations ever! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel close to San Jose del Cabo."
The rooms are incredibly large. The pool was very relaxing and the bar was very nice. There are beach chairs and shade on the beach and you can swim in the water. Short $5 cab ride into San Jose. The staff was great. Our only complaint is the hard sell on the timeshare which is very common in Cabo. The last thing you want to do after traveling all day […] is be forced to sit with the "concierge" for a hard sell. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Love Cabo Azul, despite it's single imperfection.."
We really enjoyed our stay at Cabo Azul. The staff were awesome (shout out to our favorites, the activities coordinator, Rodrigo A and Jose L from the towel bar at the pool!), the rooms were new, clean and well maintained and the overall atmosphere was very relaxing. My only complaint about Cabo Azul is the lack of internet access. The entire area is […] wi-fi accessible, but you have to pay for it... Even in the lobby! I feel that a resort like this should at the very least have free internet access in their lobby, if not everywhere. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"clean hotel but just OK"
The hotel was under construction and we had to take the service entrance to get to the hotel. We were not aware it was under construction and probably would not have booked the hotel if we knew. The hotel is on the beach but were strongly advised not to swim in the ocean because of the rip current. Wi-fi was not free like our reservation confirmed. […] We had to pay for wi-fi. The room was fine but the a/c smelled like sewage on the last few nights. We ended up sleeping with the windows open and a/c off. Every day we woke up at 6 am by the noisy resort staff and every day by the pool we had to listen to a full morning worth of lawn mowers, motorized irrigators, etc. The beach was beautiful but there were many hustlers on the beach and lots of horse poop. The pools were very clean and the lounge chairs were very comfortable but even though the resort was labeled as "smoke free" the staff did nothing when guests complained about other guests smoking. It was difficult to get the waitstaff's attention to order food/drinks but once we ordered they were very attentive. The food and drinks at the pool, por la noche and at Javier's were excellent. The food at la plaza was kind of gross but the lattes were good but it took over 10 minutes every morning to get a coffee. The restaurants across the street from the resort were good. The resort was trying to push sales of timeshares and gave us a $200 credit to take a 90 minute tour. Overall, it was just OK. I would not return Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic Hotel With Top-Notch Service"
Stayed at the hotel for the first time in celebration of our 15-year anniversary and had a great time. From the hotel itself to the customer service and food (Javier's rocks!), everything is top-notch. The location of the hotel is great too...a simple walk to the Mega store and Starbucks, across the street from a boutique strip mall with food and a […] night club (Rock & Brews backed by Gene Simmons), and a just-a-bit-longer-walk-than-to-the-Mega to get to the down and more good and shopping. "Very clean resort with nice location"
The resort has beautiful pools with plush lounge chairs that were abundant. Our room was super nice but the view was less than desirable. It looked down on a dirt road and a half painted wall. We called to change our room for a better view and we were willing to upgrade and pay more money. The front desk attendant did not call back like he promised […] and when we called an hour later he said there was nothing available. One other thing I noticed about the rooms is that they are very dark, even when you have every light on. Overall, the property is very beautiful and well kept up. As with any hotel stay just make sure to review your final checkout bill closely. There was a mistake on ours and I overheard other guests complain that there were charges that they did not believer were theirs. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"First time visit"
I enjoyed the Cabo Azul. The pools and beach area are great. Rooms and staff very nice. I would have liked to know a few things before I booked. First: The hotel is going through a major front entry renovation. I like going into a majestic hotel. I'm sure it will have that effect when completed, but we were dropped off at a back workers entry in order […] to stay here. Everytime I left I had to walk out a back street. I would have chose another hotel. This ruined the ambiance for me. Another resort in Cabo stated this issue and I chose this resort. Not happy that I wasn't informed. I just want the choice. Second: The ocean is very dangerous and can't be enjoyed. Who cares if it's a private beach if the the rip tides are amazingly strong. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Paradise you will not want to leave"
A perfect place for couples, and families, however I feel better suited for adults. The smallest room is a 1 bdrm and it is beautifully decorated. The whole resort was romantically outfitted and definitely one of the best in Cabo San lucas. I highly recommend the spa, after a massage I spent an hour doing their recommended hydro therapy, with jacuzzi, […] steam room, sauna and cold plunge and it was amazing. "Nicest, newest place in Los Cabos"
The hotel is still under construction, but beyond the lack of a completed grand entrance, you would not know it. All of its amenities are finished and in very good shape. I think the hotel could potentially double in size, so I wonder if the size of the completed project will ultimately make the facility feel crowded. But as of now, it was great. The […] staff was very good and attentive. The rooms and grounds were really stupendous. We did not have any view although ours was called a "partial ocean"- we will never do that again. Also, we had a 2-bedroom and the second bedroom literally had no window: very odd. But it was for the kids and they spent no time there aside from sleeping so it was not a bother. Cabo Azul also did a very good job of making the lighting interesting.... We used the big kitchen space for cereal in the morning to rationalize costs a little bit as the breakfast restaurant was not a bargain. The pool (s) was phenomenal- 3 individual pools of varying temperatures that cascade into each other . The hot tubs were very clean and HOT. Fires light across the pool area at dusk- very attractive. The beach was spectacular but rough. The gym, too, was very clean and well equipped. The valet service for our car was prompt. Internet access (a charge) was good in the rooms and pool area. We like this location as we would rather not even bother stepping foot in Cabo as there are more than enough great restaurants in this area. Go now. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The only thing that prevents me from giving this hotel the highest rating is the time share pitch. While we were able to avoid the 90 minute sales pitch the high pressure attempt was still annoying. Other than the initial hassle, the hotel and staff were wonderful. The location was great - on the beach but still a short walk into town.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic resort getaway"
My husband and I agreed we would have given this five stars, except for the additional daily internet charge. In this day and age, wi-fi should be a free inclusion in a hotel stay. Otherwise, we had an amazing time. The resort was a short walk into beautiful San Jose del Cabo and all of the staff were professional and friendly. The views, the swim up […] pool, the incredible food, were just what we needed. We did have a concierge greet us when we checked in and although we asked him to get us a dinner reservation at a local farm for our second night there, we never heard back from him and there was no follow up. We tried to get a reservation ourselves in the brief moment we had internet service (it was intermittent our entire stay) and were able to get them ourselves, but didn't know it because the internet went down again. I would say that was the most frustrating part of our stay. Had we done all of our reservations before leaving home, it might have been a lot easier. All in all, we would definitely go back, but be better prepared for a lack of service in that regard. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"loved everything except misleading timeshare tour"
Everyone and everything was exceptional except the " resort tour". I was mislead to believe that a quick tour of the resort was really a 90 min timeshare/sales presentation. I felt lied to and angry to be placed in an uncomfortable and comprising position. I further discovered that the employees are very aggressive and dishonest just so they can receive […] a $400 commission. The resort sells itself and I would have respected a more direct and honest sales approach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great family stay in sunny San Jose del Cabo"
This resort is first class. The staff did a fantastic job of making us comfortable and attending to our every want. The facilities are fantastic and, unlike most of our other stays in Mexico, was not overcrowded. The food was excellent, considerably above average, and we enjoyed a broad diversity (e.g. seafood, steaks, and all varieties of Mexican Food). […] A few items to be aware of: 1) Our villa, which had a wonderful view of the Ocean by the way, was insuffiently lit inside. Maybe just a minor annoyance for others but it bothered us. 2) There's no "adult only" pool. As indicated above, there was limited congestion, so as a family we were comfortable. Those w/out kids would likely be less satisfied. 3) The beach sand in San Jose del Cabo is MUCH nicer than in Cabo San Lucas - very comfortable. We enjoyed the sand volleyball on the beach. However, the surf is very high and prevented he kids from swimming in the ocean. Finally, a shout out to some of the amazing staff that befriended us during our stay; Alfredo, Juan Carlos, Miguel, Abraham, Edwardo, Janay, and especially Maria. "Best resort in the region, great value"
Came the week before Christmas, 2012. Got a great deal on expedia so the villas were very affordable. I was expecting a high-end hotel feel but the resort is all condos that are mostly owned. The most beautiful resort in Los Cabos in my family's opinion. Not crowded, abundant staff, incredible view and access to the beach... but the pool area is really […] something and you won't want to leave. Easily worth the price. If you're single like my mom and aunt, they'll offer you tours (discuss time shares, wedding options, etc.; take them because they'll give you credit towards your bill. Together, my mom and aunt got US$300 for their time. That covered all of our drinks and most of our food for the week. From the manager to the valets to the maids that came to our villa 2x/day and turned down even the hide-a-bed... everyone was very sweet to us. I can't wait to bring my husband next time. I honestly can't think of one bad thing to say about the place. Good luck. PS. Don't buy the Expedia car insurance; rental agencies won't take it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great for Couples!"
The hotel is beautiful, and the staff is wonderful as well. There is only suggestion I would make for any guests wanting to stay in the month of September. September, seems to be the month for hotel maintenace and up keep, due to it beeing the low season. I would contact the hotel directly to see if there is any large maintance projects going on during […] your stay. When we arrived, the main pool bar and restraunt was closed as well as refinishing work be done on the chapel which faces the pool. So, we had to listen to sanding, hammer pounding and general construction noises while laying by the pool. That is not what you want to here on vacation. We actually lucked out that we only had it two days out of the 6 days that we were there, for their month long project had just finished. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Relaxing stay at the Cabo Azul"
Beautiful hotel sitting on the beach. Excellent food at Javier's and Flor de Noche (outside cafe). Excellent service from all the servers and pool attendants. The only real negative I would have to mention is the cost of drinks was a little high and they were a bit weak.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent resort for adults!"
We were two couples + a baby + a nanny so booked the Penthouse, which was 3 bedrooms + kitchen, living room and dining room. It was absolutely gorgeous, super comfortable and had a phenomenal balcony across the entire back of the rooms. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the kitchen adequately stocked. The resort itself is small enough to easily […] get around and the food was incredibly delicious all of the time! They did not, however, have a very big wine list .... then again you don't go to Mexico for the wine. The margaritas were just as we expected - delicious! We did use the Paz Spa, which was by far the best spa I'd ever been to. Highly recommend the signature Paz massage! Well worth the money. This does not, however, seem like a kid-friendly hotel. You can play in the sand, but the water is too dangerous to swim in. And the restaurants + pools were more adult friendly. My only complaint about the room would be that the kitchen kept getting a funky, sulphur smell and the water faucet was wobbly, but they fixed it promptly. Also, they neglected to show us the light switches were on dimmers, so we thought our room was just really dark for the majority of our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Cabo Azul - Jewel of San Jose Del Cabo"
Hello Fellow Traveler, Chances are, you do your research online before considering a vacation and compare notes... I know that we do, and if this benefits you in any way, then great! A lot of reviews focus on aspects of a location that reflect poorly on the Resort/Hotel itself - I will try to make that distinction. The Cabo Azul, itself, is spectacular. […] It is brand new (4th year, with a brand new lobby being added but it is not an eye sore nor does it affect aesthetics) with the best service, rooms, cleanliness, amenities, and decor imaginable. It is easily in the Top 3 in Cabo, and definitely #1 for us. Well worth the price and dare I say, you will be hard pressed to want to leave the resort. Javiers and Flor De Noche (onsite eateries) are pricey but with great food and ambiance. Their market, lounge, business center, gym, are all top notch. Their Spa (Paz) was perhaps the highlight of our trip. Book without any concerns about the resort. We highly recommend it for romance, children were welcome, and it is far more peaceful than Cabo San Lucas on the west side (25 minute car ride). I doubt you will spend much time outside of the 3 fantastic infinity pools. Best of Luck! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good experience, would go back"
The hotel architecture wasn't that impressive, but the rooms are huge and beautifully decorated. Landscaping and pool design were beautiful and relaxing. Our first impression was influenced by the fact that the hotel lobby is non existent as it is under construction. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time. Not that you would spend a lot […] of time in the lobby, but it is a part of the whole experience. Saw some beautiful hotel lobbies on the way to our hotel from the airport. There are 2 restaurants and a cafe on stie, which were all good. I have a lot of dietary restrictions and they were all very accommodating and helpful. We would go back, but we weren't so impressed that we wouldn't consider going to another place. I don't know if this is typical, but we were there Sep 20 - Oct 2nd and there was hardly anyone staying in the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Spent 10 nights here on honeymoon. Cannot say enough about this hotel and their staff. Absolutely top class. 20 mins from airport, great bar and restaurants, onsite shopping market and free internet cafe. Hotel also provides free wired and wireless internet access. Had a Deluxe Pool View villa on the 4th floor and it was fantastic. Style of the hotel […] is very classy and understated, facilities in the villa are superb, loads of room including very large balcony. San Jose del Cabo is a short taxi ride away ($5). Only downside would be if you wanted to party like crazy, then Cabo San Lucas is 20miles away! Also the sea is not safe for swimming. The hotel staff make this very clear and red flags are all along th beach. This applies to all of the hotels in this area. We had travelled from Ireland so the hotel staff told us not to bother with the Timeshare spiel as they knew we would have no interest. Cabo Azul was a dream, it caters for everything and the staff were fantastic, very friendly always and helpful. I cannot comment on any other hotel in this area, but if you are thinking about staying at Cabo Azul, you will not be disappointed. Would recommend it to anybody interested. I had a great experience at this hotel. The amenities were amazing. Although the lighting in the bedrooms was not the greatest, the natural light and view from the rooms more than made up for it.
