The room had a strong smell like dirty feet, the carpets looked dirty and we had doubts if the bed sheets had been changed. The free Wi-Fi did not work and there didn't seem to be hot water in the middle of the day. Our room (#16) was in an unlit hallway so had to use a flashlight to use the key.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Reasonable hotel for small town"
Stayed here at start of winter ( Early November) when most of Lee Vining is already closed for winter. Nice hotel and reasonable price. Don't stay in rooms on East side of highway, they are too close to road and very noisy. Not too fancy but beautiful location and few other choices around here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and acceptable"
The comforters and blankets need replacing. They were the type that you put on the floor. The carpet is a bit nasty. The room was clean other than the above mentioned. I didn't find the "Lake View"!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a fine place to stay. The room was clean and nice enough. It was the only hotel open in town this time of year. The ceiling fan in the bathroom was so loud that we did not use it. Since it was off season, this hotel was being used by construction crews working on the highway, so there were a lot of guys drinking beer in the parking lot and […] outside of their rooms. That was a little uncomfortable. We came to explore the area and go hiking, so we didn't spend much time at the hotel. Beautiful area, worth the stop. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel to stay."
the room is huge and clean, and the location is very close to Mono lake and Yosemite. Very recommended to stay, and I will be back for next time I plan to go vacation again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint and quiet"
Nice little motel. In a very quit little town. Obviously a summer spot. A lot.of seasonal business sites closed for the winter. A good overnight spot if heading to Mammoth skiing. A short drive to the hill and you avoid the mountain rates. Very clean and good beds.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"1. am See"

Since this was an inexpensive motel in the middle of nowhere, we were bracing for the worst, but were pleasantly surprised with our room. It must have been recently remodeled because the carpet, bed spread and bathroom all seemed brand new. The pillows were flimsy, but not that big of a deal. It appears that the owners take great pride in their property. The staff was very friendly - the cleaning crew even offered to help when they saw me wiping snow off of my car. If in the area I would highly recommend this motel (and would recommend the nearby Nicely's for dining).
"A great stop while on Highway 395"
12/30/13 Vivian C Oakland, California
My husband and I stayed here while driving up Highway 395 and it was a great place for the value. We stayed in the main part of the lodge. We weren't expecting much considering the slim pickings but it was a pleasant place to stay for the evening. The rooms are a little dated but overall comfortable. The heater worked well (really blasted the heat into the room) for the cold December night but we also brought along a humidifier which helped us not dry out. I imagine this place is quite nice in the summer.

As we did a tour through California this was a comfortable place to stay nearby Yosemite park and mono lake. We had a charming little cabin nicely decorated and small but even had a little kitchen area with cooking possibility's. It was clean but as the floor was of the ground the cold wind blew under the floor and it was really cold. The children stayed in a room which was clean and simple but warm.
"A bit better than that ....."

You will need quite good eye sight to see the Lake (Mono) from here, but then again, I am not entirely sure that is why one would visit Lee Vining. I am also not entirely sure why one would visit Lee Vining, but that's another story ........ When we came down out of Yosemite NP, across Tioga Pass (Hwy 120), we had the choice of Left (Lee Vining) or Right (for miles till something/somewhere worth stopping in/at. We need Fuel, Food and Sleep, so chose Left. That'll be the answer then. This Lodge seemed one of the best options, had space and the price was right, so we stayed. A perfectly acceptable Motel in a small town. Clean, comfortable, a good night's sleep and good recommendations for both Dinner (Lake Mono Inn) and Breakfast (a Diner, 2/3 doors down).
"Great Place, Nice Lodge."

Given the options for lodging in Lee Vining, I would recommend Lake View Lodge. It has everything you need, even if things are getting a little dated. For this reason it is overpriced but I guess that's down to the location. If the price had been more reasonable this would have been a 4 Star review. However, we enjoyed our stay and used it as a base for visiting the wonderful Bodie and the equally beguiling Mono Lake. Lee Vining itself is an unexpected delight, that seems to have held on to old fashioned values giving it a somewhat timeless quality. The townsfolk seem genuinely pleased to see you and it doesn't feel as if it's just about dollars. Since returning to the UK we have recommended Lee Vining and the Lake View Lodge as a stopping point to friends lookng to make the trip to Yosemite; that's probably the best endorsement we can give?
"Large room hotel"
11/15/13 turhanwoo hk
This hotel got a nice big room suitable for 4 person. 2 queen size bed, 2 washing basin in the room. Got coffee machine , free wifi, no smoking, if you book ahead online, the price is good. I am very concern about hot water in the hotel, are they powerful and hot enough, and they are. No breakfast nor complementary water.
"Rent the cabins"
11/05/13 walkersandlin Fox Island, Washington
This looks like your typical, small town motel, but in the back they have several cabins you can rent for the price of a standard room. Some come with a full kitchen, living room and separate bedroom with full bath. They could have used a hide-a-bed sofa instead of two recliners in the living room though. Someone traveling with children could use the extra bed for the kids. Grills outside for cooking if you like. A fully stocked grocery store is right next door, so you can pick up breakfast, or dinner supplies and cook them your self. Lee Vining is the gateway to Yosemite on the East side. If you travel there in the winter, don't count on going over Tioga Pass as it closes as early as October.
"Great value self-catering cottage"
11/03/13 rojanich Sheffield, United Kingdom
We wished we could have stayed here longer than two nights. We had cottage 19 which was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable and there was a good sized full bathroom with plenty of space to spread toiletries out. The kitchen, dining and sitting areas were open plan and gave plenty of room. All full size kitchen equipment, a proper kitchen/dining table and chairs so no balancing on your knees in a easy chair ! To top it all there was a settee and two rocker/recliners – very comfortable. All the equipment was quality and some real care has been taken in decorating and furnishing the cottage. There is also a small table, couple of chairs and a BBQ outside. The Mono Market store is next door – very convenient. Can recommend Lake View Lodge Cottages and hope to visit again.
""Our favorite room""
11/02/13 Steve C Atascadero, California
We've stayed in this room many times in our travels on highway 395, our favorite room over the office. The first receptionist however, was a poor person to represent the goodwill of this motel; I asked her if she was having a bad day since she was so grumpy. These attitudes set the initial tone for the stay, for anyone. In all fairness, the second lady, who came out to help us had a great attitude and her professionalism was appreciated. We were a bit surprised by the rule now to immediately charge, for the entire stay upon check-in. Most motels do an authorization and only charge for nights stayed. We had to check out early, so we had to be refunded by this odd rule. There is a charge for early checkout too, if a 24 hour notice I not given, $25 USD. There is no coffee or breakfast offered at the motel either. When we made the reservation by direct call to the motel, we were told there was no longer AAA or any discounts, but there are still signs on the outside front wall of the office, which state, "AAA and senior discounts"....... So which is it? I'm still giving this a four star rating; the room was extremely clean and quiet. It had been extensively remodeled; with new windows, new air conditioner, new base moldings, and paint. Only two things could make it better; a light over the counter, where the refrigerator and food prep area is, and a window in the bedroom. This motel is in a good central location, for Mono Lake, Bodie Ghost Town, and Yosemite National Park, when highway 120 is open. We'll be back!
"Good stop for Mono Lake"
10/31/13 Martha C Ottawa, Canada
We stayed for 1 night. Our room was one of a cluster of little probably pre-fab cabins lined up around the parking lot in back of the motel. The bed sagged, the heater roared and the wi-fi didn’t work back in the cabin. So why did we like it so much? Well, it was snug and cozy, it didn’t cost that much, and Lee Vining was just so pleasant. The tiny town is situated on a rise looking east over Mono Lake – so getting up early and just crossing the road brought a breath-taking view of the sun rising over the lake. The desert and mountain landscape are otherworldly beautiful – and the lake itself with its birds and tufa formations a wonderful experience. And more practically we were steps away from the only real restaurant in town – the Nicely’s Restaurant, a busy friendly place straight out of the ‘60’s – complete with lunch counter. A little further to the Latte Da Café open early for good coffee and a limited but good breakfast menu. The federal shutdown hadn’t affected the local visitor centre and we had a friendly and helpful visit there.
