The room had a strong smell like dirty feet, the carpets looked dirty and we had doubts if the bed sheets had been changed. The free Wi-Fi did not work and there didn't seem to be hot water in the middle of the day. Our room (#16) was in an unlit hallway so had to use a flashlight to use the key.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Reasonable hotel for small town"
Stayed here at start of winter ( Early November) when most of Lee Vining is already closed for winter. Nice hotel and reasonable price. Don't stay in rooms on East side of highway, they are too close to road and very noisy. Not too fancy but beautiful location and few other choices around here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and acceptable"
The comforters and blankets need replacing. They were the type that you put on the floor. The carpet is a bit nasty. The room was clean other than the above mentioned. I didn't find the "Lake View"!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a fine place to stay. The room was clean and nice enough. It was the only hotel open in town this time of year. The ceiling fan in the bathroom was so loud that we did not use it. Since it was off season, this hotel was being used by construction crews working on the highway, so there were a lot of guys drinking beer in the parking lot and […] outside of their rooms. That was a little uncomfortable. We came to explore the area and go hiking, so we didn't spend much time at the hotel. Beautiful area, worth the stop. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel to stay."
the room is huge and clean, and the location is very close to Mono lake and Yosemite. Very recommended to stay, and I will be back for next time I plan to go vacation again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint and quiet"
Nice little motel. In a very quit little town. Obviously a summer spot. A lot.of seasonal business sites closed for the winter. A good overnight spot if heading to Mammoth skiing. A short drive to the hill and you avoid the mountain rates. Very clean and good beds.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"1. am See"
"Fine motel in mountain area"

Our room at the second floor was large. It's little bit old, but clean. The shower was hard to handle, but with some instructions from the helpful staff, we could eventually hit it. The wifi connection wasn't great. The motel is nicely situated. Lee Vining is a very small town at the base of the Sierra Nevada. From Lee Vining you can visit the ghost town Bodie and the Mono Lake. Good place to stay before driving to Yosemite. That is a two hour trip from there. The beginning of the Tioga Road to Yosemite is less then a mile away.
"Within Walking Distance of Restaurants"

We spent two nights here and they were both pleasant. There are other options but we stayed in the motel part of the property. The room was large and there was a "diverter" - a plastic shield on the HVAC unit to allow the air to blow away from the curtains - which was much appreciated. It can be difficult to maintain privacy if the curtains are blown inward right next to a window on a ground level! Interior lighting could be improved, however, as there is no overhead light and the available lights in the room are not very bright. The towels are on the thin side. We ran out of hot water after two brief showers so it may be that the water heater is not adequate for the number of rooms. We were not showering at "peak" times. The outside is attractively landscaped with seating areas in the shade. If you have some mobility issues and wish to avoid stairs to your room (there is no elevator here) you have a wide selection of rooms from which to choose, because the property is on a small hill so in some areas two levels are accessible without the use of stairs. The property is in close walking distance from two restaurants, a laundromat and a small store.

The positives were: Good location for visiting the ghost town of Bodie, Mono Lake or entering Yosemite from the west Attractive grounds and convenient parking Friendly staff Clean Rooms The negatives: The rooms were dark even with all the lights on The wifi did not work The towels were very thin and minimal

Came here to stay while we hiked the eastern side of Yosemite. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Easy check-in/out and room was clean. No frills, but well priced. As many people are departing early to get into the park, expect that there will be car noise in the early hours. We had a first level room, which was helpful for unpacking/packing car up.
"Beautiful gardens despite the draught."

A good halfway stop between Yosemite National Park.and Death Valley. A short drive from Mono Lake with its interesting history and all the usual small town facilities. Comfortable room despite having now 'view' at all.

Most of this can be summed up with 3 phrases: "captive audience," "small town," and "remote." The good - quick responses to emails; generally clean and attractive facilities; well maintained grounds; good ice machine; reasonably quick check-in; adequate parking; reasonable price given the location. The bad - little hot water, and what there was alternated between scalding hot and very cold; very noisy air conditioner to the point that it interfered with sleep; no laundry on site even though the map on their web site shows guest laundry facilities; really, really crappy internet connection, which they acknowledge by a sign in their office, yet their web site promises I would be "pleased" with it (note: this means they LIED); maid entered and cleaned our unit, including replacing the towels we intended to use another day (there's a drought after all), even though we had the "do not disturb" sign out; few electrical outlets (but no hotel has enough); fuzzy TV reception. The rest - physical keys, not key cards (which have been around for only 30+ years); outside stairs have been damaged and may not be structurally safe. Would I stay here again - no. Should you? It depends on how much you are willing to put up with.
"Good choice in Lee Vining"
08/31/14 monika_everywhere Wuppertal, Germany
Close to Mono Lake, Yosemite and in reasonable distance to Bodie. Okay for a night or two - but do do not expect to see the lake from your room. Our room was huge, bed comfortable and everything was very clean. The information in the booklet in the room is outdated - we ended up being one hour prior to opening time in Bodie due to this fact. There is no breakfast at the hotel but a Cafe on site. If you have a choice go someplace else for breakfast - the service was unfriendly and disappointing. The gardens are very nice and well kept.
"owners block the drive thru so locals cant get in"
08/28/14 ramona c Mono Hot Springs, California
the epic fail i find here is that , beside the tired lodging, the owners block the driveways with heavy machinery or things or signs so that the renters cannot possibly use the drive through to the local market or post office. epic fail to what could be a good time. inconvenient and difficult to navigate around blockades. i recommend the other cute hotels in town with cute atmosphere and coffee shops. we moved to the el mono up the street after one night. charming. dont waste money here
"Good location, easy access to Tioga Pass and Yosemite"
08/26/14 vjeric Layton, Utah
We stayed one night at the Lake View Lodge on our way to Yosemite from Nevada. We enjoyed the beautiful view and the spacious rooms. Friendly staff, clean rooms. Breakfast isn't provided, but there is a coffee shop and bakery on the premises and a few restaurants within walking distance. We had a small kitchenette in our room and the small grocery store was next door. We liked the front garden area with picnic tables and chairs for viewing/conversing. Fun little town with cute shops, restaurants, and beautiful views. Would definitely stay here again.
"A good place to stay beside Mono Lake"
08/19/14 ronks Northern California
The lodge is centrally located in Lee Vining, within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and city parks. (The Mono Lake Visitor Center is a bit farther away.) We had a cabin behind the main motel building; be advised that not all rooms actually have a lake view, but a few steps outside will bring it in sight. Our cottage (16A) was clean and comfortable; some ants in the kitchenette, but we didn't set up housekeeping so that was not a problem.
