This hotel was great for a 2 day beach getaway. It was right on the beach with views of the ocean from every room. Our balcony was comfortable, but overlooked the parking lot and was on the first floor so we were unable to leave the door open overnight and there were no windows to open (would have been nice given there is no AC in the hotel). With that said, parking was free of charge at this hotel, a huge bonus. The only true negative about this hotel was that there were very few restaurants near the hotel as it is at the northern end of El Sardinero beach. However, we learned during our second day there that taxis to town (where there is excellent food) are cheap (3-5 euros each way) and the hotel has a nice cafe for tapas or a quick morning snack.

The hotel was a convenient location to take the Brittany Ferry from Santander, Spain to Plymouth, England. The staff was efficient. Our Spanish was horrible, but communicating was easy. This is a great place to stay for a weary traveler.

Grand old hotel, built in 1917. Five stars, so a great experience stepping back in time, with service to match. Loved sharing the experience with my 16-year old daughter, who had never seen the like: Old fashioned elevator with manual doors; keys on heavy, tasseled keyrings; bathrobes and slippers provided, with a floormat by your bed so you don't have […] to dirty your feet on the way to the slippers; chocolates on the pillows following bed fold-down procedure. Fancy cars in the parking lot. Monied locals use it for weddings, small gatherings, etc. Located on a hill with views, in a beautiful residential area within walking distance of Casino, beach, and Magdalena Peninsula (with small zoo, former Spanish Royals' summer home and even a "car show" of old SEATs when we visited). Felt a bit underdressed at the Hotel, but of our own making. Staff did not treat us as if we had made a mistake booking there; even took a pair of worn sandals to maintenance and glued them for us. Rollaway provided without charge! Breakfast in the rose garden was lovely, although I wouldn't have paid for it all three days: 25 Euros. I felt the hotel was overpriced and old. The main elevator dropped six inches whenever you got in, sounded like the cables would snap and kept passing my floor. The rooms had old TVs. The water facing balcony (which cost more) wasn't large enough for chairs. The fitness center was in another building and had ridiculous hours - doesn't open until 10am […] and closes at 8:30pm. Very inconvenient location to downtown even though we love to walk. The neighborhood is near nice enough homes, but there are no cafes or shops in the area. The breakfast was outstanding, however. The view from the hotel is great...but not worth the total price of this hotel. Read more

I booked this hotel as it was advertised as containing an indoor pool. It turns out the pool is in a separate building, part of the spa, and costs 25 euros per person to use. I was very unhappy. Had I known this in advance, I would have booked a different hotel. Good place overall, but some faded elegance catching up on it! Room was excellent and great views across the sea. Good spot for beaches but town a bit of a hike (25 mins) on foot. Expensive bar and food - but we got agood rate so no complaints. Free car park a bonus!

Tuvimos un problemilla con la habitacion nada mas llegar, llamamos a la recepcion les comentamos el problema y en 5 min, estabamos en una suite con jacuzzy en el baño. IMPRESIONANTE. Un hotel un poco anticuado, pero con mucho encanto. 100% recomendable, me encanto

Het hotel is gelegen op een heuvel met uitzicht op de zee en de stad. De infrastructuur en de tuin is zeer goed onderhouden en het personeel super vriendelijk, doch minder gericht op een internationaal publiek. Voor de prijs zou ook het gebruik van het zwembad mogen inbegrepen zijn.

tres bruyant nous avone eu l'impression de récuprer la chambre dont personne ne voulait la preuve étant le petit carton d'invitation était au nom d'une autre famille. nous avons beau etre francais nous en demeurons pas moins courtois, silencieux , aimables et souriants ce qui n'est pas le cas du personnel rencontré.. quelle déception
