"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel in the theatre district. Friendly and helpful staff. Basic room accomodations but very clean. Would recommend.

This was a very small room in a noisy, industrial part of Brooklyn. The hotel staff was great, however. If you need someone to drive you around Brooklyn, ask the front-desk to contact "Fray". He took me and my 83 year old Mom all over Brooklyn which was a trip down memory lane for her. He was very kind and joyful. His hourly rate is very reasonable […] . Read more

"The Holiday Inn Express In Downtown Brooklyn NY"
The service was excellent it was especially pleased with the fact that i was unaware that I was supposed to check in at 3;00 pm. I was accomodated to be able to check in at 9:30 am. There was one hiccup though it was the assigned room I had 609 it was a problem with the lock working. I had swiped my card and to no avail did the door unlock for me to […] gain entry to my room. I knew it was an issue when the housekeeper who had the master key wasn't able to gain access to the room. The maintenance man addressed it by changing the battery because he thought it might have been electronic portion of the lock it was displaying a flashing red green light instead of a green light. This did not resolve the problem so it was moved another room. The service was overall excellent except for that on e issue. Read more

"Not Neccasarily DOWNTOWN Brooklyn"
While my family and I enjoyed our stay at The Holiday Inn Express Downtown BK. I'd advise all the out of towners reasearching this hotel that it's not really downtown BK. It's a fairly healthy walking distance from Atlantic Ave. We utilized the Union Street train stop the duration of our stay because it was less of a hike and it was freezing. I am a […] Brooklyn native and so navigating the neighborhood and commuting was easy but I'd imagine that someone not so familiar may be disappointed if they were misled by the hotel name (Downtown Brooklyn). With that said, the hotel rooms are very small,(much like all hotels in NYC) and very clean. The staff was friendly and kind. Everyone working there, whether they were vaccuuming or working the front desk was smiling and happy to help. I'd definitely reccomend this hotel to friends and family, I'd just caution them not to feel slighted when they realized it's a ways from Downtown Brooklyn, Read more

"Budget hotel"
Good for those on a budget since NYC is SO expensive. Butler st. is kind of scary, especially at night but the hotel is comfortable enough. You can hear doors slamming at night/morning. The breakfast is delicious and they have a nice eating area/free internet.

"DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN"
1ST...THE ROOMS ARE QUITE SMALL...JUST A BED AND A DRESSER 2ND.. WE HEARD EVERYTHING GOING ON IN THE HALLS... SOUND TRAVELS THROUGH WALLS 3RD...LIMITED OFF STREET PARKING HAD TO PARK ON THE STREET IF YOU JUST WANT A PLACE TO LAY UR HEAD AND NOT WORRIED ABOUT SPACE THEN ITS OKAY... BUT IF YOU WAN SPACE...DONT STAY HERE
"HIE Brooklyn - cheap, but some problems"
The room was fine - clean, comfortable bed, as-expected small. However the walls were paper thin, the doors slammed all night/morning, and when I arrived guests were smoking in the room across the hall (although the staff did react fairly quickly, the smell lingered). If you're in a room on the 2nd floor over the breakfast room, be prepared for an early […] morning wake up. If staying, I would definitely insist on a room on a high floor, far away from elevator/stairwell. Convenient enough to walk to a couple of neighborhoods, although not much immediately around it. The rooms were very small, a couple of folks at the front desk were rude and the location was faraway from everything. Would not recommend this place to anyone!
"The Price Is Right"
Hotels in NYC are very expensive, so if you're on a budget, this is a good choice. Pros: Clean, reasonably priced, free wifi in your room, 7-8 min walk to subway, 5 min walk to restaurants/bars. Cons: Noisy (could hear doors slamming, and the vending machine was right out side our door- so loud and annoying), the street is not pretty (graffiti on walls, […] looks industrial) and we could sometimes smell cigarette smoke in the hallways. Overall, it was fine and met our needs of being close to public transportation and affortable. Also- don't pay for parking! There's tons of free street parking on surrounding streets within a block or two (try Baltic or Nevins Street)- just pay attention to the street cleaning rules so you don't get a ticket. Read more
"Our stay at Holiday Inn Express Brooklyn"
We needed the Park Slope area and this hotel fit the bill. We were convenient to the Atlantic-Pacific subway, the music venue we were attending , and even the New York City Marathon. Going to and from Manhattan was easy as well. The breakfast provided us the energy to face the day. I am sure that the immediate area around the hotel will be attended […] to in the future without Brooklyn losing its roots and charm. If you need a place in downtown Brooklyn, I recommend this hotel. "Holiday Inn Express in downtown Brooklyn"
Nice room, small but adequate. Very comfortable bed and pillows. The hotel service was excellent. Parking was on the street but not hard to find spaces. Restaurants and stores are a few blocks away. The breakfast is included which makes the price for a room reasonable. I would definitely stay there in the future.

"Just what I needed!"
My stay here over the Labor day/holiday weekend was great! My sister and I stayed here to attend the West Indies Day Parade in brooklyn! The subway was about 5-6 blcks away which is my only complaint. The stay was comfortable clean and as quiet as a NYC hotel could be. Hotel parking not worth it. I parked safely on the street for free and never made […] it to breakfast. The hotel and room were clean and maintained well, staff were kind and helpful! would def stay here again. Read more
"You could get a room in the basement"
Not a good sign when you have to take the elevator down from the lobby! There is a small window up top, but you have to pull the drapes so people on the street aren't looking down into your room. While the cleaning stuff must have tried hard to keep the rooms clean, there is a level of mold and odor that's hard to keep out of basements.

"Holiday Inn Express Brooklyn Downtown - Very poor"
This hotel really has nothing at all going in it's favour. It's décor is tatty, in places dirty and it's benign at best. You wouldn't feed the breakfast to a dog so don't be swayed by it being "free". It is positioned in a very commercial district that you will not want to be out in after dusk for fear of your personal safety. You will also have to […] spend a lot of money getting into the nice parts of Brooklyn or Manhattan. People were crashing about all night and the walls are so paper thin you can hear everything that goes on in adjoining rooms. All I could see from my window were 3 huge housing tower blocks. I can't even find anything positive to say about the staff. They weren't a patch on the people I've encountered at other hotels. The TV only had about 10 channels and they were the low quality free ones. On a positive note - the room was reasonably clean, the shower worked really well & the WiFi connection was good. My advice to any prospective visitor to Brooklyn would be to stay in, or as near as you can, to Brooklyn heights or Park Slope. My second piece of advice would be to treat this hotel like the plague and stay well clear. Read more
"Brooklyn Trip"
Has Holiday Inn's go the Express was nice. The staff was very professional and friendly. It is however located in an industrial area and a little off of the beaten path but a nice facility none the less. My only issue, and it is more a New York thing than anything else, was that parking was limited and had to be reserved/paid for. We did not know this […] and we had to park on the street, and since we were in an industrial area on the weekend it was not an issue. Read more

"Don't go"
Frist thing is I was told my elderly mother and I would have ajoyning rooms, they don't have ajoyning rooms at all. the hotel is directly arcros the street from a sanitation dept. Yes they clean the trash trucks and the nose gose on all night. it is nt closed off so this is what you see when you sit out in front in the little cafee sitting area. what […] a joke there are factory buildings up and down the street. and they want you to pay $24 day to park in ther 10 car lot in back w/ a BIG sign that says WE ARE NOT RESPONDABLE for your stolen car or break in's. what a laugh after they have your $ you end up in a cute hotel in the middle of a dump. what options do you have to make a change when you have made a 8 hr. trip with a 78yr old person. this is shameful. no thanks Read more
"Lousy value- misrepresented- cheap and overpriced"
It is old, underkept, overpriced and the staff is rude and cancare less about convenience or comfort. The room is smaller that any cheap motel, it smells old and the air conditioner is as loud as a truck, There is no convenient parking and of course no help with luggage or food near by. No public transportation near or anything interesting. The neighborhood […] is run down and scary. You should be ashamed of even accepting any guests in this location and you should be embarrased to charge the ridiculous fees. over the years I have spent many nights in your locations all over the country, I will now try very hard to avoid any of your locations and I will also try to prevent anyone from patronizing your business. "Holiday Inn Express in Brooklyn"
The staff was friendly and accommodating, room was clean. Biggest downside was the location- fairly desolate street but you needed to walk a bit of a ways to get to the interesting shops and neighborhood. Staff for their part, was very helpful at securing car service for us which was great since cabs were not readily available. The complimentary breakfast […] was big disappointment- dining area was VERY crowded and not able to accommodate hotel guests-real disconnect between picture shown on site and actual experience. There was hot food and cold food options (pancakes, eggs, cereal, etc)- just poorly presented given the tightness of the room. I would use this again despite the above but only as a more last resort option Read more
"Good not great"
When we are used with Express By Holiday Inn this hotle et below average. The location is not great, however the surrounding will be completly reshaped soon and then it will be OK.
It was a pleasant stay, very good people.
"very good deal for the price but very thin walls"
For the price, this is a great deal. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. Service was quick when we asked the front desk to send up a few sundried. Free breakfast wasn't the most delicious, but it was convenient and had a wide selection. The neighborhood looks a bit dirty and industrial, and there aren't any shops or restaurants around, […] but it is perfectly safe and you can walk to awesome park slope. My only complaint is the walls were super thin, so you hear all the loud talking, babies crying, and ice machines, which may bother you if you are a light sleeper. Read more
"Excellent service, good location"
A great place to stay, close to Manhattan by train (a long walk to the train, but very easy), and super clean and friendly. The staff is incredible. Would highly recommend.
"Nice Hotel....but"
The hotel staff was courteous and keep the hotel up to par. I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Comfortable bed. Clean bedsheets. My only complaint would be that the neighborhood looked so abandoned. And it's really hard to find parking because of all the "no parking" driveways. There were a lot of warehouses on the same street […] so it was nearly impossible to park on the street. My husband ended up getting a $60 ticket. Read more
Not a bad location, great hotel, very clean and friendly. There is not much around the hotel, but the subway is only a 10 min or less walk. Would stay here again.

"Clean and comfortable"
Our visit to this Holiday Inn Express was wonderful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Even the breakfast was great! We did a last minute booking for this hotel and the price was great for NYC. The only problem was the room size. It was probably 12x12 ft. Which can be small for 4 people. This is not the […] hotels problem. We are new to hotels.com and now know we have a choice to room size. The other concern is the neighborhood. It could look scary to some but they shouldn't worry too much it's fine. We chose the Brooklyn Holiday Inn because a friend we were visiting lived near this location. Overall this hotel was a perfect way to end our visit to NYC. Thank you to everyone that works there. Read more

"Holiday Inn Express Butler Street - New York"
The curb view of the hotel was not impressive. There was extremely limited parking. We were lucky that it was Saturday otherwise we wouldn't have been able to park on the street. Initially, we were given the wrong keys to our room. When we opened the door, there was someone's stuff laying on the bed! When we finally got our actual keys, we went to […] our room and although it was super small...it was fairly comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly, so that was nice. Overall, the hotel was extremely small-could barely fit the 25 people in the room area for breakfast. The surrounding area was really run down, but seemed quiet. Just don't go there on a weekday or don't bring your car and prepare yourself for a tiny room. Read more

"Poor Holiday Inn Express"
This property is not up to par for Holiday Inn Express properties. The room was VERY small; the bed took up 80% of the space. The selection of TV stations is VERY small (around 10 stations). For a week, there was no ABC and that was during the NBA finals. There is one small elevator and it takes forever. It is a long walk (15-20 minutes) to the Subway. […] The neighborhood is industrial -- mechanic shops and abandoned warehouses. Restaurants are also 15 minute away by foot. I also do not like Holiday Inn Express breakfasts. The food is very processed -- nothing fresh, no fruit. Worst Holiday Inn Express I have stayed in. I have elected to us other brands after this fiasco. Recommendation: find another hotel. Read more
"Very limited parking, tiny rooms"
Everything about this property is compact. Double queen bed room isn't large enough for more than 2 people.
