Would not recommend however the girl that checked me in was very nice and helpful to make up for the bad hotel.

We came to San Diego as my husband had been in the Navy years ago...The Pearl seemed funky-fun on the website and so we booked for a 2 night stay. When we arrived earlier than check-in, the staff were very accommodating and set us up in a comfortable room. Parking was $10 a night and right at the Hotel...convenient as anything. We got changed and headed […] for the harbour...lots of fresh fish shops and dining locations. We walked down the coast for quite a way but returned to The Pearl for dinner. We had arrived on a Wednesday night which as it turns out is movie night. The dining atmosphere poolside was really lovely; lots of candle light and romantic seating....all outdoors with many heating lamps to make the cool night air more comfortable. Nice wine selection and a dinner menu with lists of local sources. The next day we got up early to watch the sun rise and just kept moving....went to a local spot for breakfast and returned to ask about the bicycles locked up outside of the hotel. They were available to us gratis, so, we headed out. REALLY comfortable cruising bikes....so we cycled all the way down past the convention centre and took the ferry over to Coronado Island. We made our way to the Del, over-looking the beautiful beach. Cycled back and had another great night at the outdoor poolside dining area which was hopping again with lots of people enjoying the Happy Hour drinks and then the dinner menu. Not for you if you're a light sleeper. Very noisy from road noise and people dining. Great friendly staff and fun rooms. Food a bit overpriced. Good location within walking distance to many restaurants and boat harbor. Not too far from many hotspots.

We arrived on Movke Night. Pulp Fiction was playing, so it was rather surreal to check in over Samual Jackson's amplified voice and a packed house of lounge guests. The hotel and bar staff werre both friendly and engaging - you can tell they like their place. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with updated decor, but a bit of the old hotel feel. I love this place. An architect with a love of mid-century modern design remodeled a dumpy old motel into one of the coolest places I have ever stayed. The bar and restaurant are very good. The staff is cute and charming and also very helpful. There are hip events many evenings. The rooms are not fancy but the design is very fun.

My husband and I stayed here during Thanksgiving weekend. This hotel was very clean and cozy. The rooms are small but perfect for a short stay. The only thing that caught us off guard was the $10 fee that was asked of us during check out. Overall it was a nice stay.

I thought it would be closer to ocean beach which is not. The people were all very nice and accomadating... The pool did not have lounge chairs for laying out by the pool on which I thought was weird considering the hotel is not close to the beach and I wanted to catch some sun.

Everybody was so nice who worked there and the location is great if you need to stay close to downtown and that area.
