Strawberry Valley Inn - Mount Shasta

This quaint motel offered comfort and convenience. With beautiful views of the mountains and a nice strolling path around the grounds. the morning breakfast was anything but the traditional "continental" breakfast offered at chain hotels. This is a definite "must stay" and we will be back!

The room was comfortable. The staff very friendly. We were not able to stay in the Bed and Breakfast, rather in one of the other properties. Our room appeared to be a work in progress - holes in the wall for future electronics, smoke detectors not yet installed, etc. Delayed in getting into our room due to housekeeping issues. To be fair, we were informed […] that the computer "crashed" the day of our arrival, so certain bumps are to be expected. Expected a breakfast (as we paid for a "bed and breakfast"), but were offered a choice of three cold cereals (should have been advertised as a continental breakfast). This place didn't get the best reviews but I thought it was a great stay. The bed was comfy and nice linens. The living room area was very comfortable. There was hot water and a great heater. I thought the overall stay was comfortable. There are a few things that need to be taken care of like a hole in the door and it could use a fresh coat of paint. […] The room was clean but could be dusted. We were expecting the worst based on the previous reviews. We were basically prepared for camping with a roof. So we were pleasantly surprised by the actual experience. We stayed in a Nest unit (the Strawberry Inn is actually being renovated right now. So there are no rooms there). The room was pretty clean and recently remodeled. The only foreign hairs […] were of animal origin - because this hotel does allows pets and getting rid of animal hair is next to impossible. The room was freezing when we arrived, but the window unit did an okay job heating up the place and the hotel happily provided an addtl space heater at our request. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The maid service was not much of a service. They arrived around 6pm on our second night --took out the trash and left some towels. The most disturbing part about the visit was the lack of mattress pads on the beds. Discovered on the second day. Yuck. The best parts were the price, the decent size room, and the nice people/staff and Seven Suns coffee down the street where there are amazing breakfast burritos (we did not partake in the "free continental breakfast" at the lodge). This is an ECONOMY hotel. Don't expect the RItz. I would stay there again if they had mattress pads. Read more

First let me say that I stayed at the Strawberry Valley Inn years ago (obviously under a different owner). It was old but clean and the breakfast cooked by the owner was fabulous. Now to my current trip. When I booked the room there was a double queen and a Nest double queen available. I couldn't tell the difference between the two so I called and asked […] what the difference was. I was told there was no difference and booked the Nest room. No one mentioned that the "nest" room is located offsite a block and a half away around the corner. The room had a coffee maker but no cups of any kind. No water glasses either. The "desk" area was so dirty I had to clean it before we could put anything on it. The shower only and there is nowhere to put your soap and shampoo other than the floor of the shower or the back of the toilet. There was 1 hand towel and no washcloths. There is a dangerous step down into the bedroom area. We had to keep the livingroom light on all night so as not to trip on the step up on the way to the bathroom at night. The breakfast was worse than any chain motel I have ever stayed at. Just prepackaged waffles, bagels, muffins and cold cereal. It looked so unappetizing we didn't even eat it. We stayed here during a Retreat we enjoyed with a group of friends. We needed a room really for sleeping and were out on Mt Shasta and the surrounding lakes most of the days we were there. The room was refreshingly clean. The lady in the front office was just cool. The feeling at the hotel was safe and cozy. The blinds didn't work. The door was hard to lock and there was a gap around it where you could see light on three sides. Only one wash clothe in the room for two people. A tiny amount of toilet tissue on the roll and no extra roll. I would not recommened this motel to anyone. And I won't stay there again. Check in time is 3:00 PM. At 3:30 the room was still not ready. The housekeepers arrived about 3:35 and we talked to them and tiped them to clean our room first. They did not provide plastic drinking cups or any glasses, shorted us on wash cloths, did not provide hand soap for the sink, the coffee pot had not been cleaned and an old used grind pouch […] was still in the pot. We thought the hotel was over priced for what it was. It was generally not clean and the hot water took a long time to get even lukewarm. There is a "sister" hotel across the street and the hotel recommended the restaurant there. It was not very good at all and the service was very poor. We would not stay there again.

when we arrived .... the office was closed @3pm we called the # & they came over with the wrong key to the office as we stood out in the cold she ran across the street to get the right key, we checked in went to our room & it was freezing.. the heaters didn't work so we moved to the next room which was smaller but the heater worked, the room was not […] as clean as I am used to. Room was very small and the bathroom floor still had hair from the last guests on the floor. The room never was swept the entire time I stayed. The bed was made three times in the five days I stayed, and the trash never emptied.

This was by far one of the biggest disappointments on our trip to Mt Shasta. I booked it based on the high ratings on hotels.com, and boy do I regret it. Let me just get on with my list of complaints.... When we arrived, there was no one at the front-desk, as they were in their sister property across the street. The room was too old, and the view from […] the window was dried bushes and a wall! The bed frame was like one seen in hospitals and had very sharp edges, which could have caused a serious foot injury. The towels felt like sand-paper. They market the place as a boutique hotel but the furniture is cheap and old. Turning on the heater makes the room smell all musty. The bed did not have proper sheets (I suspect they were shorter than the bed size), that in the morning, I noticed I was sleeping on the bare mattress (This has never happened to me in any hotel so far). To top it off, breakfast was just terrible... frozen waffles, some bread, cheap jelly. The person at the front desk mentioned that they didn't have any milk since they were waiting for the mom & pop store down the street to open. We waited for nearly 40 mins and didn't get the milk. Later on we found out that they actually own a grocery store about half a mile away! Overall, this was definitely not worth the money. The price should drop at least over 50% for it to make any sense to even go there. Read more

マウントシャスタ観光の際に利用しました。場所は観光に便利な場所にあり、とても良かったのですが・・・、着いてチェックインをしようと思ったらダブルブッキングだと言われました。その日は５組くらいダブルブッキングで、先週もダブルブッキングがあったという話でした。さんざん待たされ、同じ系列ホテルにまわされましたがそのホテルも泊り心地はあまりよくなかったです・・・。もう二度と泊りたくないです。

外観はとてもかわいらしいホテルですが。。。 初日にシャワーの排水溝が髪の毛で詰まっていました。これではシャワーできないと訴えると、そんなはずはない、翌日の掃除の後でも気に入らないなら部屋を変えるとのんびりとした回答。翌日、薬を流し込んでなんとか開通。でも毛玉は絡んだまま。その後パイプが水漏れを起こし浴室が水浸しに。トラブルが重なったので部屋を変えてもらいました。その後は快適でした。 通りの向かいにある方がメインのためか、常駐するスタッフはいないので、何かあってもなかなか連絡がつかないのが不便でした。
