I arrived after a long 12hr flight and was not impressed at all with the following small issues that add up to unenjoyable stay. My room didnt have any "custom" items inside it.Like my previous stay did. The room was pretty bare and worn out. The bathroom needed work done , the bathtub sealant was coming apart. Their was no shampoo in the bathroom upon arrival. The windows from my room were dirty. The ondemand movies were not working properly. I tried to get a list of local resturants that deliver and was told I had to stay downstays to look through their 1 copy of resturant listings. (no copies?) I was then suggested to try their own resturant instead. Upon checkout I asked for a receipt and was told that they couldnt print one out for me because "your already checked out so we cant print a receipt" The only good part of my stay was that Ralphs grocery store was a 60seconds walk from the front door of the hotel. Also I managed to find great Thai food that delivered.

While close to LAX thereby convenient, not much else going for it. Parking over priced, front desk service sorely lacking, room very funky (needed painting, calking, stain removal and repairs to upholstery). Restaurant closed at ten, no room service. Wake up call did not come. Bed was comfy but the overall lack of cleanliness made one wonder about the bedding...

I read the reviews for this hotel and others and therefore knew what to expect. I found this hotel to definitely fit my needs especially for the price. It was clean and simple with a modern feel. My room looked out to LAX, but the noise didn't become an issue. It was nice to watch the planes landing and taking off. I could not control the room temp, the warm room kept me from getting a really good nights sleep, but it wasn't terrible. Since this was November, it was fine, I don't know how the summer months might be. It was odd to have the fitness rooms on 2 different floors, I only used "Horse Racing" (cardio with hand weights). Maybe this time of year is considered off-season because the restaurant was quiet, but the service was friendly. I would go back.

The Custom Hotel is modern, hip, , simple, sparse, and clean: best described as "Hotel Ikea" or "W lite". Great value: some might say "cheap" but I say affordable. Good inside restaurant (but no windows) and great pool side bar. Convenient: Good local neighborhood food (pizza, Chinese, Mexican, bar) within a block or two and grocery store right next door. 5 minute shuttle to LAX. OK, one negative to keep it real: funky shower heads.

The hotel was virtually impossible to find. The entrance was unmarked and off an alley. The phone did not work and, when we asked for it to be fixed, the 'engineer' told us it was fine and then took the handset with him. We had to send for towels (there was one set and the room was for two people) and for someone to fix the toilet.

However, they are designed well, so you don't feel claustrophobic. They have a pool/lounge/club that is always happening. You could spend your whole night in this hotel.

My Boyfriend and I love this Hotel. We live in town and try to "get away" once a week. We try tostay here because it's close, comfortable, and worth the price. If your looking for alot of extras this is not a place for you, but for a comfortable, casual place to hang out and chill for a night, then for sure. Parking is expensive, so try to find street parking, other then that you can go next door tothe store for food, or walk down the block to a few really tasty resturants and eitther eat there or take back to your room and hang out. There is a resturant, but we haven't tried it yet, thought it always looks and sounds fairly busy most weekends, so I assume it's pretty good. The pool is very small, so actual swimming is not possible. However if the weather is nice the pool area is a great place to lay out and lounge, with the bar and grill attached. I love it there. No frills. But friendly people.

Very nice hotel with decent small rooms. Extremely convenient with friendly shuttles to airport. There's a decent and fairly priced restaurant downstairs open for breakfast and throughout the day. There's also a new Coffee Bean store on the same block. The design of the place is a little overly 'hip' but perfectly comfortable. And its amazingly quiet given its proximity to LAX. If I have any complaints they are that the TV is poorly placed and that the WiFi was slow when I was there.

this was the second stay here. My wife and daughter stayed here on a college visit when we found a very good rate for a hotel close to LAX. We came back when we dropped her off at school. I say it's not a chain in good and bad ways. the rooms are a little spare, but certainly comfortable, clean, and pleasant. There is no dresser or anything with drawers, so we dressed out of our suitcases. (we were there 5 days) A minifridge would also have been nice. When we checked in, they did not have a 2 double bed room that we had paid for available, so they gave us two rooms with single beds for no extra charge. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. the neighborhood seems decent--there is a pretty good chioce of restaruants within walking distance, including a a very good diner for breakfasts. also a big grocery store right next door for putting your own meals together. Not particularly fond of paying $22/night for valet parking, but with the very good rate we got, not too painful. The valets continued the pleasant staff experience. There is on street parking if you want to work for it a little. i think we will probably stay here again when we come to visit (particularly if we can get the same on-line rate)

Definitely check out the floor with vending machines (about 10 of them featuring random items). If I go back to that area again, I will definitely consider this hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. the hotel had modern furniture which we liked. very clean. the bed was not comfortable and the rooms were REALLY small. We could hear people in the hallway late at night when we were sleeping. The hotel has a pool which was very tiny but the atmosphere was really fun (think mini vegas). There were beautiful patio lounge chairs, patioe beds, a bar, and a DJ booth. The DJ's played in the evening on our first night and then started around noon the 2nd day. There was some party for a football player (the hotel had apparently promoted it) and guests came from outside the hotel. Kinda weird but fun I guess. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for kids or families or couples looking for much romance. But we did have fun partying. Would recommend hotel for that reason. The staff was very courteous but the check-in time is not until 3pm. plan your flight accordingly!!

From what we gathered, this is a rather funky place. Very . . . UNUSUAL . . . decor and furnishings. Wonderful, comfortable bed. Big plasma TV screen on the wall (we never turned on). Certainly seemed clean enough. Our concerns were chiefly with respect to noise. Our room was on the second floor, right next to the street and facing LAX. We were exhausted from a lengthy flight from Thailand, so we were ready for some deep sleep. By turning the room fan on high, we created some white noise that helped to overcome some of the street noise. Things finally really quieted down at about 2:30 in the morning. HOWEVER, besides street noise, this hotel seems to cater to a lot of teens and 20s. Every hour or so, some rowdy crowd seemed to enter our hall and talk at full volume. No one sounded drunk; just completely thoughtless and rude. One other item to beware of: The free shuttle runs from 7 am till 11 pm. If you have a late-night or early morning flight, you'll be out of luck. Also, when you arrive at the airport, it may take what seems like "forever" for the van to get you. We waited 35 minutes from the time of our first phone call--when we were told we would be picked up in 15 minutes. Cab fares, however, are very reasonable. When we left in the morning, the front desk got us a cab within 5 or 10 minutes and the cabbie charged us all of $10. I gave him a $3 tip.
