This is an hotel located in a service area, and it is very difficult to find. See below for help. The hotel itself is very nice, with a good restaurant, and a large pool. There really is nothing around the area. The service area is Il Gelso Bianco, and there is north side and a south side one. Coming from the east on A-19, heading west, exit SLOWLY into Il Gelso Bianco North, and keep hard to your right, hard, hard, hard. DO NOT FOLLOW the signs for autos into the service area!! Stay hard right. You will see the sign to the hotel, and the hotel. Coming west on A-19, heading east, exit SLOWLY into Il Gelso Bianco South, and keep hard to your right, hard, hard, so you go around behind the service area and along a road until you can turn left through a little underpass and go uphill to the hotel. DO NOT FOLLOW the signs for autos into the service area!!

Good bed and breakfast for exploring Etna. Great views of Etna and Catania. Owners speak English and are very helpful. Simple breakfast in a lovely glass enclosure. In season, there's a nice pool and tennis court. Nicolosi is a good base for touring Etna.

We spent an overnight here before returning to the USA. We were greeted warmly and given a very clean, quiet room. We left the hotel at 5:15 a.m., and were provided with a carafe of hot coffee and some pastries before we left. The hotel restaurant was excellent--delicious food at a fair price. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

very hard to find, even with a GPS, wall paper falling off wall.
"Good city centre location"
Near to the heart of the city. Good for shops nearby. Hotel staff were really knowledgeable about places to eat and really helpful with maps etc. Breakfast was included however good to take advantage of the local granita and brioche at 2 of the best bars in town.

Very satisfied overall. Not so obvious to find it, but a good hotel. Breakfast could have been better. For 2 days out of 4, there was a toaster but no bread. No milk was ever available for the cereals. Service very friendly and corteous.
"Room we stayed in was dark"
Our room was dark most of the time the lights were on. The night clerk was rude and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my family or friends. Prefer to pay a little extra for more quality service
"Descent Hotel"
This was a decent hotel. About a ten minute walk from the center of Catania but it was still just off the main street, Via Ethnea. It was very difficult to find the hotel. No signs, just a label on a doorbell! Staff were friendly, room was fine. Good breakfast. The price was good (october).

"Hotel Catania Centrale"
The hotel occupies the second floor of an old building. Generally the lift worked, but not always. the first room we were shown into was dark, smelled musty and hard wallpaper falling off one wall in strips. When I told Reception that the room was not satisfactory, we were shown another which was considerably better. It was lighter and a little more […] spacious, and there was a desk. The wireless internet did not work in the room, nor did the cable, but WiFi did so in the reception area. On the other hand, the reception staff were very helpful (except for showing us the first room in poor condition when there was another better one available). "à déconseiller : bruyant et malodorant"
Very very noisy (ventilation, electric toilets, entry bell and door, street) Bathroom and corridors stink! Only cold water the first morning The room is gloomy and not very clean. plus détaillé en français : Négatif : - la plomberie est lamentable : WC avec sani-broyeurs très bruyants, qui se déclenchent quand on tire la chasse mais aussi toutes les […] 30 secondes environ lorsqu'on fait couler de l'eau (douche, lavabo). On entend aussi ceux des voisins! - pas d'eau chaude le 1er jour - mauvaises odeurs très nettes dans la salle de bain et même dans les couloirs du 1er, à côté de l'espace petit déjeuner - la ventilation dans la salle de bain ne suffit pas à faire disparaitre ces odeurs, elle se déclenche seule dès qu'on allume la lumière et fait un bruit d'enfer. On entend aussi très fort celle des voisins. Donc quand vous vous douchez ou que vos voisins se douchent vous entendez la VMC à fond + le sani broyeur toutes les 30 secondes. Il y avait moins de bruit dans l'avion au décollage. - accessibilité des chambres : l'hôtel est au 1er et 4eme étage d'un immeuble d'habitation, donc avant d'accéder à sa chambre il faut à chaque fois sonner en bas de l'immeuble (c'est parfois ouvert la journée) puis monter au 1er et sonner, traverser un dédale de couloirs et ressortir sur le palier du 1er, prendre ascenseur jusqu'au 4e puis encore re-sonner et attendre qu'on vous ouvre.... c'est long, le couloir est glauque, et évidemment toutes ces sonneries et portent qui claquent ça fait du bruit! - chambres vieillottes, propreté moyenne - peu de choix dans le mini bar - effectivement le petit dej est mauvais conclusion : c'est très très très bruyant! ok le bruit de la rue on peut le supporter, ça fait partie de l'ambiance, mais entendre sonner et claquer la porte d'entrée à chaque fois que les autres clients veulent entrer et sortir, entendre le WC sani-broyeur des voisins et leur ventilation, ce n'est pas normal. "Trois nuits a catane"
L'hôtel était très bien car nous y avons pas passe nos journée non plus mais le petit balcon était très appréciable et le fait que l'hôtel soit très centrale aussi. Clim qui marche bien, salle de bain propre. Le petit déjeuner en revanche est a éviter car vraiment pas bon... Rien meme pas le café. A part ça l'hôtel était calme et agréable.

tutto e' andato bene solo 1 giorno siamo rimasti senza acqua posizione centralissima e comoda permette di andare ovunque e di non annoiarsi la sera.

Καταπληκτικό! Αυτό που χρειάζεσαι όταν πας διακοπές στην Κατάνια! Ατμοσφαιρικό, με πολύ φιλικούς ανθρώπους, καθαρό, σε ένα από τα κεντρικότερα σημεία της πόλης, θέα στη Via Etnea. Και με πολύ καλό πρωινό! Τέτοιο καπουτσίνο δεν έχετε πιεί π ο υ θ ε ν ά!!!
"Difficile da individuare"
Ho soggiornato in questo hotel con mio marito 5 notti. E' stato difficile individuare l'albergo poichè dalla strada non si vede un'insegna. Il personale è gentile e cordiale; la colazione un po' scarsa; le camere sono abbastanza pulite. Buona la posizione centrale per girare la città.
