"Wonderful 110 year old mansion"
Scones that melted in your mouth. Very friendly service. Peaceful garden. Overall a great experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The perfect place to stay if you love to be loved. They are so sweet here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely experience surprisingly, as I am NOT a B&B'er. I like being anonymous in a big hotel during a business trip. This is cozy and casual and I was well taken care of with my scheduled time for homemade scones and coffee brought to my room. (The best scones) Then the most beautiful homemade breakfast, again, on my schedule. A colleague and I had the […] place to ourselves and so the owners were an intricate part of the stay. It was a connection filled couple of days. I'll be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"THE Place to Stay in Missoula"
Booked a two-night stay as a surprise relaxing getaway for my wife's birthday. What an amazing place! Nancy & Tom not only provide tremendous hospitality, but they have transformed this historic relocated mansion into a luxurious hideaway. It's gorgeous throughout, the grounds are inviting, the food is creative, attractive and delicious. There are loads […] of comfy spots to sit and relax inside or outside. Take a spin on the complimentary cruiser bicycles and come back for a refreshing cold beverage and a snack or enjoy some of the fantastic selections of local teas and coffee. Don't pass up an opportunity to enjoy this great place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Quiet, grand historical B&B not to be missed."
Breakfast was fresh and very good. Casual, relaxing atmosphere. Very well-kept, charming and surprisingly quiet given urban location. Especially appreciated the stocked refrigerator, morning coffee/tea room service and very friendly and warm greeting by the proprietor. Highly recommended!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best B&B experience"
There are a number of positive reviews on the Gibson B&B already. Not much to add to these, this was simply the best B&B experience my wife and I have ever had.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic Bed & Breakfast experience"
The owners, Tom & Nancy, went out of their way to ensure a memorable stay. The home is as beautiful on the inside as the out, and the breakfast service was outstanding. We would highly recommend this as a great place for a romantic getaway, a place to relax and take in the sights around Missoula, or what sounded like a lot of fun to us: a place for […] four couples to spend the night and do a murder-mystery party! Fabulous hotel, beautifully restored - one of a kind. The proprietor's were extremely helpful and friendly and served amazing scones with morning tea and a wonderful breakfast. The only tiny problem was that the room we stayed in (Sunset) was facing the road and subject to traffic noise.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Keep Missoula Awesome"
As this was our first trip to Missoula we didn't really know what to expect but were completely amazed. Missoula as a town exceeded all of our expectations. The Gibson Mansion was a great place to get a good nights sleep, the king size bed was heaven for my fiance and I and the old state charm of the historical gibson mansion was maintained meticulously […] by the owners. A tray of fresh scones and coffee was left at our door each morning followed by two of the most gourmet breakfasts we have ever had at a B&B, we stayed two nights and were treated to orange souffle the first morning and smoked gouda eggs withpeppered bacon the second day. The hosts also had two cruiser bikes for use by the house guests which we took advantage of on our second evening to hop around town. The only draw back (albe it a small one) was that the Gibson mansion was not right downtown itself. However with the use of the bicycles this was barely noticeable. "Excellent service and food!"
Receiving coffee and a fresh baked scone outside my door in the morning really did it for me. Breakfast was served family style and was delicious. The owners are super nice, the kitchen is immaculate and the house is beautiful. By bed was glorious and they have really thought about everything you may need for a comfortable, pampered stay. "Beautiful and Accommodating"
10/19/14 LisaHint Ely
This house was beautiful and tastefully decorated. It is not overstated, but very elegant and the owners have an eye for detail. We had delays on both legs of our flight and ended up not arriving until 1 AM. They were very accommodating to our change of plans and made it easy for us to arrive for a very late check-in. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts were gracious and friendly. The grounds are very attractive and inviting, but it was a little too cool for us to take advantage of enjoying the use of that area. Our only issue was a small one, if you are a light sleeper, you may want to choose a room at the back of the house. The city room does face the city, resulting in some traffice noise. It is not terribly loud and my husband never noticed it, but the lighter sleepers might get sleep disturbance if an emergency vehicle goes through or louder trucks or honking horns. The bed and bedding was very comfortable.

The Gibson Mansion is an unexpected treasure to find in Missoula. Like all old 'dames' she has weathered life's shifts and changes with dignity and grace ,coming out the other side as a winner at the top of her game. At first glimpse one is dazzled by her gleaming white presence, she towers above the street with a welcoming dignity. Surrounded by exquisite gardens brimming in a blaze of colour , lovingly tended by our hostess Diane. Removing gloves she greets us with warm anticipation as husband Tom opens the sparkling leaded glass doors and offers a robust hello. Inside we are awed as we tour with Tom while he explains the painstaking personal restoration. All main floor rooms are open to the guests and that includes the kitchen. Opening the refrigerator door he exhibits a selection of cool drinks at our disposal. There is a hot drink station set up on the counter for our pleasure also.....it appears nothing is off limits to their guests. We are asked about any food restrictions or preferences. And to our delight Tom asks us what time we would like our a.m. wakeup tray and our breakfast ...... none of the B&B's we have stayed at have ever offered us a choice, usually we are told what time to be there.....this was a most impressive touch. Our second floor suite is "The Master" and oh boy they named it right. It is sun filled, consisting of an entry which leads to a covered terrace fronting the entire building, furnished with a porch swing viewing one direction and at the other end a bistro set overlooking the pristine and private back garden. Back inside the bedroom area is dominated by a luxurious king bed outfitted with high end linens (which can be ordered). The fireplace is set for a 'real' fire and two comfortable chairs await accompanyment. It is a struggle to know which spot indoors or out to choose for relaxation as everywhere is so inviting. As it was early afternoon and warm out we decided to make the gazebo ours for a few hours. Tucked into the rear of the garden it was an oasis after a rigorous morning ride. Later in the afternoon when other occupants deposited themselves and their drinks in the garden, Tom tempted us all with tasty treats and a selection of restaurant menus. We choose The Keep, partly because it was just a short ride up the hill behind us and also it offered fine dining. Our meal was very good as was the service. My choice 'The Keep' chicken (an old recipe) and my husband's the New York steak both were perfectly prepared and presented. The dining room is set with linen cloths and candlelight, just what one would expect of a higher end establishment. Back at the Inn after dinner we enjoyed a quiet sit on the balcony swing. In the a.m. our 'wake up' tray was silently left at our door (no knock just incase we would rather sleep - so thoughtful). We were anticipating the warm homemade scones and coffee so we bounded out of bed at the arranged time The little balcony table was our perch as we sipped and nibbled listening to the garden come alive with bird song. An hour later (again at OUR desired time) a breakfast soufflé, fresh fruit plate, english muffin and beverages was leisurely served in the big dining room. Guests arrived at varying times and all were happy to discuss their lives, travels and daily events. Nothing was rushed and we were all encouraged to have our cups replentished before our departures. Diane and Tom are ultimate professional's, very attentive but not intrusive which made for a delightful stay and memory.
"Wonderful choice in Missoula Montana"

We had a lovely stay at the Gibson Mansion. The house has been lovingly restored and the grounds are exquisite. The room (city) was very comfortable and quiet with luxurious sheets and fluffy towels. Coffee, juice and scones were at out door upon waking and breakfast that followed was delicious. Nancy and Tom were accommodating, informative and available. Wonderful place to stay
"Didn't live up to expectations"

The Gibson Mansion is marketed by Whitestone Marketing (ref Gibson Mansion website) who refer to their "obsessive" approach to marketing 'boutique' Inns. Our experience was of being overly controlled and insufficiently cared for in a rather fussily decorated / organised property. The communal downstairs areas and gardens are all attractive, but if you, like us, will primarily use your bedroom, then these 'features' will not add much value. Eg this would seem to offer more value as a wedding venue, which they offer. Our experience of Gibson Mansions was as follows, with initial quotes from Gibson Mansion website where applicable: ".....Peaceful property" - 10yds from a busy road "Heart of Missoula" - Not sure there really is a heart of M, but this property is clearly on the outskirts of town "breakfast....we allow you to choose the time that works best for you" - You have to decide the day before, what time you would like breakfast (we prefer to choose what time we have breakfast after we wake up) "Lovingly restored with modern amenities" - our room initially had no heating provided in the room despite a well forecast cold spell (car covered in ice at 8:30am) we were then provided with a small student digs type electric heater. To drying to keep on all night, and with draft through balcony doors meant that walking in early morning on cold wooden floors was not a pleasant experience. This is a first for us, we have been too warm in hotels before, never too cold! Fussy room lighting, using 4 types of switch mechanism, overly bright bedside lights. Small TV, with a complex remote control, that I never fully got the hang of - again, this has never been a problem for us before. "Flexible check-in" - We arrived at 2pm to find the house empty, after a lengthy drive, with no key left. we called the owners and we were shocked to be told off for arriving before 3pm. So an alternative interpretation might be "Check-in is from 3pm, your hosts may not be there so will leave instructions" "Luxury Breakfast" - This was Not the culinary experience we had hoped for as we found the food to be high in sugar and saturated fat, e.g., fried eggs, sweet cured ham on a cheese croissant - no toast. Their early morning scone was covered in sugar, and despite not eating them on our first morning, we were then served the same sugar coated scone on our second morning. There was no choice offered for breakfast other than the type of hot drink. We anticipate that this review will elicit a detailed rebuttal, but these are our experiences.
"Absolutely wonderful B&B!"

Tom & Nancy Gibson have done a perfect job in the restoration of their Gibson Mansion Bed & Breakfast. They are excellent hosts and make guests feel completely at home and comfortable. I called the afternoon of our overnight stay. The City Room was available. Tom showed us around the Mansion and kitchen, gave us reports of some of his favorite restaurants and made it clear all we need to do is to touch base with him for any questions we had. I enjoyed taking pictures of the extensive gardens around the house, then had wine one of the destination areas. Perfect way to wind down from a day on the road! In the morning, we had a carafe of excellent coffee and two raspberry scones waiting at our the City Room's door. Mmmmm. But that wasn't all... we had an excellent breakfast, too! Our first course was prime fresh fruit and banana/macadamean nut French Toast and pepper bacon. TDF! We learned a little more about the Mansion's history, looked at the album of its renovation under the skilled hands of the Gibsons, and reluctantly hit the road north. Anytime you are in Missoula, this bed & breakfast is the best place you can stay!
"Beautifully cared for b and b"

The owners of this place have done an amazing job restoring this beautiful b and b and their attention to us as guests was very good. Coffee and scones discretely left outside our door before we had even woke up and a fab breakfast
"Fantastic Missoula B&B"
08/23/14 Frank M Chicago, Illinois
We stayed at the Gibson Mansion in early June for (unfortunately) only one night prior to heading north to tour Glacier National Park. It ended up being one of highlights of our trip. Check-in was easy and thorough. The grounds and gardens were absolutely beautiful. We especially enjoyed having morning coffee in the gazebo, listening to the birds and taking in the smells of the plentiful flowers nearby. The historic house itself is very well cared for (remodeled by the owners), immaculate and cozy. Our room (the city room) was comfortable and quiet; we both slept very well. The breakfast was absolutely delicious (pre-breakfast pastry/coffee delivered to the room was a great touch and much appreciated). And last but certainly not least the innkeepers, Tom and Nancy, were both exceptionally hospitable, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with them after breakfast, and easily could have just hung around the house and relaxed all day. The next time we are in the area we definitely plan to return and stay for more than just one night!
"Very nice stay"

I had only one night but there was no lack of attention to my brief stay. Gibson Mansion is a lovely, authentic Victorian home which is well maintained and comfortable with much attention to detail. There are gorgeous gardens to enjoy and several areas for quiet relaxation. Breakfast was delightful.

For our annual sister get-away, we chose Missoula as our destination and the Gibson Mansion as our place for a three-night stay in the master suite. The whole experience was a total delight starting with the hosts Tom and Nancy and their dog Peyton down to every detail of their restoration of the mansion and grounds. The home and gardens are immaculate and the attention to detail over the top. The coffee and scones delivered to room in the mornings were a perfect way to start the day! Plus each morning we had different and scrumptious breakfast. The rooms and common areas are gorgeous yet welcoming and comfortable. It is now our considered the best B&B we've stayed at.
"No one was around "
08/09/14 Jleahkaylor Mammoth Lakes, California
When we arrived we had to call to figure out how to check in. They had left a key but did not communicate with us about leaving it. We arrived after 4pm so there was no reason no one was there. We took a quick nap and then tried to go downstairs around 6 to gain some info and suggestions and still no one was around. I found a taxi company on my cell phone and we left. Returning late in the evening. The room was a bit warm but the fan helped a lot. Don't sleep with the window open as you will hear the road traffic from the city room. We had signed up for tea before leaving and it was great that the tray was there at 630am promptly. Raspberry scones were delicious. We then came down from our room packed and breakfast was made. Nice to finally see someone in the house. Breakfast was very good. I loved that we were served local tea. Overall a good experience
