Galway Oyster Hotel - Oranmore

Hotel was Ok just recently re-opened and the bar wasn't full stocked. The decor was new but was looking for more of the Ireland old world feel. Would be great for the business traveler.

This hotel had great customer service and was in a quaint town called Oranmore. The hotel was just behind a few pubs and you're able to access Galway in about 10 minutes. For the price it was a decent stay. The only downside is that the shower did not have a complete closing door so the bathroom floor got pretty wet. Very comfortable room...all the amenities. The only problem is the hotel still says Ramada on the outside. It only says Oyster House on a piece of paper on the door. It was a little difficult to find.

We used our Android phone and the Google Maps driving directions app to direct us from the city of Galway to the hotel. After parking the car down below we took the elevator up to check in. The hotel seemed quite new with bar and even a casino though we didn't bother to event walk inside during this weekend trip. The room was comfortable but like other […] reviewers stated, the shower stall (if you can call it that) was impractical at best. The handicapped accessible shower had no curtain and with a somewhat slow drain, quickly flooded the bathroom floor. We had to take a shower at very low pressure. The breakfast was just OK - standard budget hotel stuff - and offered few healthy options (OK cereal is healthy but only full fat milk to pour on top). During the night with the windows open (we were above the lobby area) we could hear people outside, as they were either getting fresh air from the casino or grabbing a smoke. As for location we were pleasantly surprised that a convenience store and several pubs and restaurants were within walking distance, as well as a minor castle just a short stroll away. The location was perfect for doing The Burren drive down to the Cliffs Of Moher and the price was right. Read more

The hotel was fine, room comfortable and breakfast good. However, the vicinity was extremely noisy on the Saturday night that I was there. The bedroom overlooked a carpark and what seemed like a carport at the entrance to the hotel. It was raining so some drunken people decided to congregate in this covered area, and they were extremely noisy. I complained […] and eventually they were moved on. The exterior of the building could be cleaned up and I didnt like parking in the underground carpark as I felt it wasnt safe however the interior was fine. The rooms were modern and clean. Customer service was good. Our room had a lovely view of Oranmore Castle. Overall I was quite happy with it and would stay again.

a very nice welcome in reception.. allowed to check in as soon as room was ready.. 13.00 ish... thanks! Little more than a hostel, a basic Travelodge style. When you get there all the signs are for a different hotel.
