"Close to the Airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
It was a pleasant, clean and modern place to stay before we left Italy the next morning. The free shuttle service to the airport was a nice perk. The evening reception desk person was very friendly and also gave us great advise of a good place to eat in the area.

"Good value."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
All in all a great little B&B. Only small annoyances location on main street a bit loud, internet when it did work: it was very slow. Housekeeping only available before 12pm. So if you are not out of your room by then you won't have toilet paper, fresh towels etc. Good perks free snacks and and drinks.
"Residence Candia - Rome, Italy"
We loved our stay! The great manager gave us a true "Room With a View!" We could see The Vatican from our windows. We were comfortable and felt secure and safe. Would stay there again and again if we had the chance!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, NOT 2 stars."
The location was good, only blocks from the vatican, and the vatican museum. Parking was good, neigborhood, had nice places. Room was EXTREMELY small. If you, were a larger person, you would have had a hard time using the restroom. Staff, some were very helpful. I think, it was overpriced, but maybe not for Rome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very friendly, good size, close to metro"
This place had a very friendly staff. The location is nearly across the street from the metro line for easy access to other parts of Rome. Walking distance to Vatican. Clean room. Convenient to have kitchen space, table and a lil extra space.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Residence Candia"
The staff a this apartment hotel was terrific. Very helpful. We had problems checking in online for our flight back to the states and the desk staff had us use their email address for our documents and even printed everything out for us. We stayed in the one bedroom Penthouse. Don't let Penthouse confuse you... It WAS on the top floor but that was the […] only resemblence to a Penthouse. The furniture, although very clean, was cheap. The kicten was VERY small but efficient. The bedroom was very clean but again, Very small. The best thing was you could hear the Vacican church bells from the room. The is a lovely terrance where we enjoyed our morning coffee. They advertize that you can see the Vactican Dome from our room but really that is a bit of a stratch. There is a great market around the corner so you can walk to but groceries and and the surrounding area seemed quite safe. I did like being able to make some meals there, especially breakfast. All in all, it was a nice experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location - Small, clean accomodations"
The location of the hotel was great... 10-15 minute walk to the Vatican Museum and St Peters Basilica, plus the Cipro Metro station 5 minutes away. We were on the 5th floor (Penthouse) level that included small balcony. The room was tight for 5 people, kind of like a large RV where all the conveniences were there, but in a compressed area. The beds […] were comfortable, the bathroom well equipped, well lighted, lots of hot water in a decent shower. When it comes down to it, we spent most of our time touring Rome, so the room suited our needs very well. While not particularly fancy, it met our requirements... I recommend the Residence Candia for budget conscious travelers that want a decent place to stay while they see the sites of Rome. You can't beat the convenience of the location. "Great Place to stay with a large or small group!!"
Our group of 9; 3 adults, 4 teenagers, and 2 younger children rented 2 apartments at the Residence Candia 2 weeks ago. I was paranoid making a reservation online for such a large group, but we were very pleasantly surprised with this hotel!!!! The apartments are large, and very well stocked with everything you need for sleeping, showering, storing your […] clothes, and cooking! Every apartment has a coffee pot, pots and pans, large refrigertor, stove, lots of dressers and closet space. The air conditioning, and the elevator were operating perfectly the whole week we were here! The staff is very friendly and helped us with getting connections with tours, using the busing and metro system, and calling a taxi at 4am! It is in a very safe residencial neighborhood with a great pizza place, laundry, kebab place, market, grocery store within blocks. It is 3 blocks from the entrance to the Vatican Museum and one block from the metro station. Stay here..you will love it!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Hotel and Area"
The hotel was nice and the staff helpful. It's literally 2 blocks away from the Vatican Museum but a bit far from the Ottaviano Metro stop (about 15 minutes walking). The hotel was nice and indeed had a kitchen but everything was really crammed in and not a lot of space to fit it all so it wasn't the most comfortable but it was very clean. The surrounding […] neighborhood was great. Across the street is a wonderful restaurant that we ate dinner at every night called Piacere Molise. The staff was so kind and the food excellent. "Residence Candia"
I booked this room based on the rave reviews from prior guests and the decent price for a quad room in Rome. The elevator was broken making it difficult to maneuver heavy luggage up the narrow stone stairwell. While my family of 4 (including 3 adults and 1 teen) did not mind sleeping in the bunk beds, we were extremely uncomfortable with the faulty […] air-conditioning which kept the room sweltering hot. We reported the problem, but got the impression that they knew about it already just like the no free internet in room. My college son had to submit online assignments during his vacation. H was able to go into the lobby which was the only place that the internet did work. However the lobby was filthy and dark with no furniture and resembled a construction zone, so he sat on a step and managed to submit his assignments using this extremely slow internet. We opened the windows (since it was cooler outside than inside), only to get a nice view of the nearby neighbors behind us looking out their windows down at us, I was appalled to see a tiny black bug crawling up the wall next to me while in bed. I later had a rash on my legs. It was a spacious apartment which included a full kitchen, but the overall appearance was dingy. The customer service was poor. When the only light bulb went out on the 20+ foot bedroom ceiling, they handed us a light bulb which we had to replace ourselves using the tall ladder we found in the kitchen after almost falling from top bunk to reach it. "Bravo!! A delightful stay!!"
The hotel's facade is non-descript (save for the large vertical sign) but it betrays the delight on the inside. The staff was friendly enough but don't expect overflowing warmth--hey, they're Romans!! Our party of five room was delightfully accommodative and bright with windows out to Via Candia. It was not only CLEAN but it smelled clean--not bleached […] cleaned, but rather a true sense that this room was well sanitized. Our room accommodated us very comfortably with three bedrooms and two bathrooms(each with a stand up shower). The highlight was the kitchen. A galley style set-up it was clean, neat and well equipped with modern appliances and just about anything you would need to prepare meals. It also served as the common area, absent a living room. The small grocery store around the corner had all we needed to prepare a wonderful dinner and breakfast on our last night/morning. (Dish detergent and scrub pads are not supplied, though dish towels are.) The Candia's location was the rival to the room. Perfectly situated a block or so from the Cipro Metro stop and about a 5 minute walk to the entrance to the Vatican Museums. St .Peter's square is about a 15 minute walk. A couple of cafes are on the corner for a late night espresso and "cornetto" TIP: The best way to get there is to take the van transport from the airport (shared ride EUR15p.p.) We look forward to staying here again and recommend it without hesitation! Grazie a tutti a Candia!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel was very convenient to the Vatican and a piazza with ok restaurants.. We took the open tour buses for our travels and they pick up at Vatican so getting around was not so bad. "Good Location"
Hotel was located extremely close to Vatican City and our favorite Ristorante (Mama's). Pictures online were deceiving making the rooms look bigger than they actually were. The bathrooms are extremely small so if you are a larger person you should not pick this hotel as you will have a hard time maneuvering in the shower and toilet area. For us the […] location totally made the stay as we spend very little time in our hotel when in Rome. I have been to Rome at least 50 times and this rates about the middle of the road for hotels we have stayed at, but for location it is excellent. I didn’t find the staff very friendly but in Rome I always find this hit and miss at hotels. Price was steep for the size of room but again I believe you are paying for location and not for the hotel itself. Courtyard is nice if you are staying for an extended time. "Would stay again"
Clean hotel. Beds were hard, but I'm told that's typical of Europe. (They were like that on our cruise as well). Room looked similar to pictures. We had a little difficulty opening our door - it's mainly done with a key, not a door knob. We had a small kitchen we didn't use as we were only there for one night. Shower is tiny, but they provided towels, […] soap, shower gel and shower caps for each guest. I didn't like that the radiator was right between the bathroom door and the toilet. You had to be careful when you walked by it. The staff was nice and most spoke English. They held our luggage for us the next day when we checked out so that we could go to the Vatican. We were able to walk there (with a 6 yr old) in less than 10 minutes. They also called a taxi for us which came within 5 minutes. I would definitely stay here again. We had a wonderful time in Rome and it was made all the more pleasurable by the staff at Residence Candia. They went above and beyond to make our stay so great. They were instrumental in obtaining tickets to the Midnight […] Mass at the Vatican on Christmas Eve, suggesting good restaurants, giving directions to the Metro, bus, and places to shop.
