"good food on site"
loved the history of the hotel, close to shopping and great food even the hotel restaurants were great, we tried both and the lobby bar had really tasty & creative drinks. the room was good with a comfortable bed and large bathroom that had a really good size tub for soaking. the lighting could have been better and the shower grout had some mold so […] I can't give it 5 stars Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"great location close to "T""
Great, facility, excellent service, Food at "Clink" outstanding!!! City subway close by, so no driving necessary in city, also Boston is very walkable. Only downside: no exhaust fan in bathroom, or at least it was not working, I saw what looked like a vent but no air flow, or sound of air flow.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just a place to stay"
The hotel was very modern and nice. Average size room, no chair (other than at the desk), but very nice bathroom with separate tub and shower. Hade a problem with lobby bar after returning from dinner--wanted to watch some football and have a drink but all the bar chairs had been removed or relocated. Bartender said something about fire hazards--which […] seemed ridiculous since same chairs had been there in the afternoon. Would not go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great one night getaway"
Great one night romantic getaway. From the bellman to the front desk staff to the room service servers the staff couldnt have been nicer.Complimentary champagne on check in was a great perk too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and the view was beautiful. The lobby can get loud and there were a lot of people partying and drinking, so we had to change our room after the first night to another room further away from the elevators, so we had a pleasant stay after that. Overall, great hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to my medical appointment"
The reason for our stay was to be close to the location of my medical procedure and follow-up appointment the next day. Hotel was very convenient and comfortable, terrific and helpful staff. Dinner at hotel restaurant Clink was excellent, and we appreciated not having to leave the hotel for a meal. We enjoyed a drink accompanied by live music in the […] lobby before dinner. "Best Hotel in Boston in my eyes"
My girlfriend and I went to Boston to visit a friend, check out the city and see the Tigers / Red Sox game for labor day. The hotel was amazing, we arrived at 11am because of our flight, so we asked them to hold our bags, but they upgraded our room to courtyard view so we could get settled. The hotel was a quick walk to TD garden, Boston Commons & bars. […] A 10 minute walk to Quincy Market and the Red Line was right outside the front door. It is a perfect combination of history and fun/excitement. The value is unbelievable at the Liberty and it is my hotel of choice in Boston for sure. If I had to say one negative thing it would be that the hotel restaurant CLINK is overly expensive for the small portions. But there are plenty of places to eat right outside the hotel front doors. Room wasn't ready on time. Took a while to bring up luggage. But otherwise cool hotel, great location for biking, kayaking on Charles River and dinner out on Beacon Hill. Fun bartender and fun setting for a drink at Clink.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Unique and wonderful experience"
My husband and I took a brief "staycation" at the Liberty for our wedding anniversary. Being from Boston, I remember the Charles St. Jail and have always been curious about the hotel. The customer services was great. Because I noted in my reservation that it was our anniversary, we were upgraded to a room on the 16th floor with a gorgeous city view. […] There was a bottle of prosecco and strawberries in our room with a note of congratulations from the manager. Additionally, as you checked in, everyone was offered a glass of champagne which made you feel like a VIP. The hotel is elegant and quirky. The combination of its history, which is front and center, and it's chic redesign make it really unique. We loved the open spaces and the room, while not enormous, was very nice and comfortable, clean and attractive. My only complaint is that the food prices at their restaurants Scampo and Alibi were ridiculously high, while the food was good, but not great. A glass of orange juice at breakfast was $5 and pancakes were $16 (plus an additional $6 if you want bacon). But, we would definitely go back to the hotel again (though we'll probably walk over to Charles Street for dinner). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best place to stay with your pooch!"
Talk about pet friendly! I was greeted downstairs with a complimentary glass of champagne and my puppy got her own gourmet dog biscuit with her name on it! "weekend in Boston"
This is a great hotel. Loved the history that it used to be a prison up to 1990. Hotel very unusual in appearance and very impressive. Besides providing hotel rooms, it had a vibrant night life. Had a huge bar in the lobby and people just hung out having a drink or having some food. They also had a "night club" People from all over the city came here […] to party. You can even have a drink and some food on the cat walks that were above the lobby and were part of the prison. But it didn't affect the quiet atmosphere of where the hotel customers stayed. We had a wonderful room in the tower. Great location. We had breakfast there every morning and it was very good. The only suggestion I would give is that it could use a little more light in the actual hotel room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great bar and restaurant...rooms not so much"
The Hotel Liberty boasts of its great bar scene in this repurposed jail, and it does not disappoint. Fabulous decor. Great drinks, happening scene. Same for the on-site restaurants...fabulous food and service. The room, however, was only so-so--smallish and not really "luxury," but not terrible...until I opened the guest services menu on the desk and […] a roach scooted out and made his way leisurely across the desk. Definitely NOT luxury. And you know what they say about roaches...where there is one...let's just say I didn't get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. At these prices, I say go for the drinks and food, but stay somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to the T"
The air conditioning in the jail cell rooms are SUPER loud! Hard to sleep with it on but harder to sleep when it's hot. The staff didn't know very much about the history of the hotel. Would have been nice to hear it from them instead of being told to go watch some video. The diet coke kept breaking at the bar on the 2nd level lobby floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Luxury comfort, service and atmosphere"
I booked a room at the Liberty Hotel for Sunday August 25th and we had an excellent overnight stay. We were offered complimentary champagne at check in and once we dropped our bag off in our room we went to the hotel's restaurant, Clink, for brunch. Upon returning to the hotel following an evening in the north end, we enjoyed a night cap in the courtyard […] of the Alibi bar. This historical hotel is luxurious, clean and fun even if only for a cocktail in the swanky lobby. The service is top notch across the board. Not only did I find a great last minute deal on our room with a king size bed but also a solid place to book the next time we stay in Boston. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The location is great - right next to MGH, Beacon Hill yet also minutes from the airport. Our room had a great view of the Charles, the amenities were great - I had everything I needed (even the things I should have brought and forgot). We had a great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A "Liberating" experience...."
Not much to say about the Liberty Hotel except "flawless". Staff were great, room was great. Didn't eat at "Scampo" but found the food at "Clink" to be very good. Restaurant was participating in Boston's Restaurant Week at the time of our visit and was offereing a three-course prix-fixe menu, which was excellent value and great quality. Enjoyed this hotel in a recent stay with my college aged kids. Great location... so easy to access the T or walk anywhere. Lots of great eats nearby. Booked a twin double room. Was nothing special for the price paid. The main areas are nice and clean. Long wait on the elevators.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Incredibly overpriced and disappointing"
Pulled up to the hotel and had to wait for the vallet for several minutes (not a goog start). No attempt to carry our bags, open doors, welcome us to the hotel, etc. Check in was nice. Glass of cava was appreciated. Ambience was like a W, which is great when it's "current" however, hotels that try to be on the edge can often seem dated quickly - this […] one did. Hotel room was HUGELY disappointing. We had the "city" view (read: facing a bulding 20 ft away). I kid you not, office people could see into our room. The room was the size of a shoebox. Tiny. The bedding and confortable matress was the only redeeming quality of the hotel. I called to see if there was another room, and was told that for our room class, this was it. Customer service skills were lacking. The appropraite things to do would be to apologize, state that the hotel was full (even if was not) and offer a round of drinks or some other token accomodation. The following morning there was coffee and tea near the elevators, however, the coffee was almost gone. I notified the front desk and asked if they could refill the coffee I was told "no" because they would be brekaing it down shortly anyway. Again, situation handled poorly. We have stayed at lovely hotels all around the world for far less money than this. We paid $450/ night. I would say the experience was worth $150. Definitely would not recommend this hotel. Response by The Liberty Hotel - A Starwood Luxury Collection Hotel Thank you very much for this feedback. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed champagne upon arrival but I am sorry for the disappointing service that you encountered. It is concerning to us when our guests do not leave with a positive experience. To touch on some of your feedback, I wanted to let you know that our standard rooms are approximately 400 square feet in size; we do have more spacious corner rooms and suites that you may consider booking in the future should you desire an oversized room. We endeavor to be accommodating to all of our guest requests and will be sure to follow up on the luggage and coffee service issues that you noted
Excellent. Staff could not be better (except for one young man at the taxi station). I can recommend this to all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This ex-prison is now one of the coolest places I've stayed. Ultra modern but still has some prison motif. Beautiful interior especially the lobby area. Rooms are fantastically new and spacious. The bars and restaurants are always happening. Easily my favorite place in Boston and one of my favorites anywhere.Genuine Expedia guest review

"We didn't want to leave!"
Our experience at the Liberty on 8/18 was amazing! We were greeted and checked in by Paul, who was so friendly and quickly told us we were being upgraded to a deluxe room on the 7th floor with a city view! After he poured us some complimentary champagne, we went up to our room and couldn't believe how beautiful it was! The bathroom was huge and included […] a shower & separate tub! We loved the bath products, and the robes were so comfortable! The bed was great, and we had a perfect view of Boston! We decided to really get the full luxury experience and use the mini bar and then get room service breakfast... the menu is a bit overpriced, but they do have a few great and really delicious basic options! All of the staff was so friendly, especially when we had to call the front desk from our cell phone since we couldn't figure out the fancy phone system. The red line T stop was right across the street, we could have easily walked to any downtown hot spots, and we were 2 miles from Fenway, which was our main destination! As for the structure, the interior & exterior are beautiful and really unique. We will definitely recommend the Liberty to our friends! It made a quick trip to Boston really special for us! :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
