"Walking distance to Colosseum, good location."
Hotel is very clean and very quiet. Staffs are very nice and helpful. Location is great, walking distance to the Colosseum. Hotel is also very close to the Metro A line, tram #3, bus#85 #87 which it can take you to every must see sights. Great Italian breakfast!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This was my first visit to Rome. I enjoyed the hotel, however next time I will chose something closer to the center.Genuine Expedia guest review

Do not trust this picture which is taken from a school. This hotel just locates inside a very small street. There is no plaza in front of it.You have to go out of the small street for few minutes to take a taxi. There is only one resterant 500 meters around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"visit to Rome"
hotel staff very curtiusGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I travel frequently in Europe and particularly in Italy, so I know what to expect when it comes to a European hotel at the Saint. Johns price point. That being said the Saint. John underwhelmed in every possible way. The upkeep of the hotel is horrible and ownership should absolutely be ashamed. The carpet throughout the building including the guest […] rooms is stained, tattered, and pungent with a foul odor from years of neglect. The walls are in desperate need of paint and repair. The amenities along with everything else you touch in the place are cheep and poorly designed. The service team is clearly jaded, by years of handling the same complaints time and time again, and wholly disinterested in anything other than collecting a paycheck and leaving the building as quickly as possible. I actually had to request 7 bath towels to lay down on the floor of my room so that i could walk through it without turning my socks and or the bottom my feet black from filth. I highly, highly recommend that you do not book here. Rome has some amazing hotels operated with great care and passion at a very similar price point. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel but do not think it as four stars"
The hotel is good based on Europe standards. The room is small like lots of others. The free wifi is big plus for us. Breakfast is pretty good although a kind of tired of it after staying more than three days. The location is good-not in the heart of the city but a short walk. Our biggest problem is with the carpet (quite dirty) and the extra blanket […] ( smell bad and we did not use it). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and friendly"
Staff was very professional and helpful. The hotel offers free internet, but it's a little slow. The Colosseum is a 10 minute walk away, and there is a subway station less than a block away for the subway train that runs past the vatican.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very small room"
The room was extremely small, with just enough space to walk around the bed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel is good located have all the facities . but short of staff at front desk no bill boy serviceGenuine Expedia guest review
Rooms are very small, and shower is tiny, but the staff was very helpful and the location convenient.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not in tourist area"
The hotel was quite expensive for the size of the room. However, Rome itself is expensive and this particular weekend was quite crowded. The room was very small, but very clean and well furnished. The bathroom was also very clean and nicely done. This location is great for those who either want to take cabs or like to walk. Otherwise, it can be difficult […] if you're looking to be close to the traditional sights of Rome (other than the Colosseum). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice for the price"
It was a small room, but not unexpected for Europe. Clean and comfortable. The staff was very kind and helpful. They spoke English very well. Close to many tourist sites. Would definitely recommend it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff at the front desk were not very helpful - they always seemed to busy or annoyed to answer any questions you might have. They didnt make you feel welcomed in the hotel, especially that this was the first time I was in Rome. The Staff in the dinning area were friendly and courteous and made you feel welcomed. I would not stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
""4 star" features, but 3 star stay"
We stayed here for 5 nights, as our last leg of our 1 yr anniversary trip to Italy. It was a comfortable stay in a quiet but small (expected in the city) the bed was nice, the shower had mold and the carpet turned my socks brown everyday. I wish breakfast was included. It seemed like a nice breakfast but was expensive p/p. It was a 10-15 min walk to […] the colleseum, but the walk is along a nasty street where homeless ppl sleep and it stinks. The metro was nice and very conveniently located, along with the Termini station. The only great service we received was from Maria, ( or Mirna, I can't remember what her name tag said ) but she was very helpful, she one day booked a tour for us and on the last day when we were leaving for flight home she helped us SOOO MUCH! Everyone who worked here failed to let us know that the Metro ( our plan to get to the airport ) was planning on a typical STRIKE! So, benounce to us we didn't book another means of transportation and this whole situation could of been diverted if we were notified of the possible STRIKE. Maria called several ppl for us trying to get a taxi or anything! She was finally able to get us a taxi and when it arrived she even went outside and talked him into taking us to the airport and only for a certain rate. We were so thankful for her, with the sircumstances we had. And if she didn't do all that she did, we probably would of missed our flight. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Metro & walk distance, ideal for must-see sight"
We had great positive experience. We will stay there againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was in overall OK. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable of the area we were close to the Colosseum, but my complain was no Air Condition !!!! at all. Even though the nights were cool not cold I had a bad time sleep with the open window and the noise outside my window and no A/C. During the day is was hot in the room. They said A/C had problem. […] They lied different staff member gave all types of excuses. My advise make sure your next Europe hotel has AC and its on!!!!!!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Jewel in UberPricey Rome"
After being quoted insane rates at other hotels, we read a few reviews and took a chance...it was well worth it. The rooms are tiny but the location, the staff, and the vibe was perfect for exploring Rome. Mirta, the front desk manager, was absolutely fantastic, even getting us a prime table at rooftop restaurant facing the Coliseum...on Holy Thursday! The […] room would get tiny after more than 3-4 days but for a short stint, the Saint Johns is perfect, walking distance from the Colisseum, the Forum, the Metro and a zillion great cafes, churches. "Hot time in Rome"
As far as location, this hotel was great. right near the metro and within reasonable walking distance to major sites. Hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. However, they did not have air condition while we were there and opening the window helped but the hotel is on a noisy and very busy street. So we were up very early each morning with the […] traffic and the room was very hot. Before you book, make sure the air condition works here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small improvements would help"
Most front desk staff are terrific, but one was not very helpful. Room was generally warm. Could use an extra chair. Bathroom sink drained too slowly. Hotel promptly fixed it, but the problem reappeared in a day. Water in the cups not emptied daily and cups never washed during stay! We visited other cities, while still keeping the room. Upon returning […] found the cups rather unhygienic! Breakfast menu had limited vegetarian choice, but was satisfying. Close to buses, metro station and attractions. Would stay again. "Americans in Rome"
About 20-25 min walk to the Coliseum...watch out for dog stuff on the sidewalks...one block from the subway. Hosts very helpful. Room clean, but small. No charge for WIFI. Bed pretty firm, but the bathroom was great, There are some local eateries around the Coliseum. Overall, I would recommend. I'd stay again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Near Manzoni Station"
The manager Osama was extremely helpful with our problems. We were there during the snow and had to leave earlier. He did everything he could to get our monies refunded. If it weren't for the snow, the location would have been fine. Food not too good. Price was very good for Europe.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Gr8 place to stay. The air conditioning could have been betterGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Eurostar Hotel St. John-clean and comfortable stay"
A nice 4 star hotel convenient to the train station and a short walk to the Coloseum and the Forum. Very good breakfast buffet. The only negative was that the room was uncomfortably warm because they said that air conditioning is outlawed in Rome after Oct. 15.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I think it has to be rated 4+ starsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
room was small but very clean. nice modern design. AC did not cool the room, but we were able to open the window and sleeping temperature was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location - but No A/C"
Great location - rooms were a little small (as expected), but the hotel suffered from one drawback - the room was hot all the time with no ability to control your temperature in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean, Pretty, Close to Sights"
The St. John Hotel was very nice. A clean, well decorated lobby. The staff was nice and helpful. Our room was a little small but it didn't matter to us much. Everything felt clean and comfortable and a little luxurious. The breakfast was great as well. A nice variety of cereal, pastries, eggs, fruit, and breads. "Eurostars Hotel Saint John in Rome - great stay"
Better than we expected, although this hotel is not within the "cheap" range of hotels in Rome. Location was fantastic, literally 1 minute walk to the Metro station (Manzoni on the A Line). Very clean and elegant lobby and rooms. Bathroom was very fancy and spacious. The room is obviously small compared to US standards, but it was pretty decent size […] for EU standards. Service was great, front desk was very polite and spoke perfect english, plus they always had solutions and ideas for our needs (airport and city transport, supermarket, etc). Room service was fantastic and very personal; really 1st class service. Quiet street, a lot of public transportation and you can literally walk anywhere (Colosseum, Termini, etc) For sure I recommend it, worth the extra bucks. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Deception Deception Deception"
The internet does not work!!!!!!!!!!!! They lie to get you in the door and then when you nicely confront them about it they are very rude about it. Room was clean but very loud. Location is great but pretty much all hotels in Europe cities are located near a subway station which will get you anywhere fast. If you like friendly staff and internet this […] is NOT the place for you. Breakfast was a JOKE for 12 euros and front desk guy was a Jerk when I nicely confronted him about the false advertizing about free internet. O yes it is free since it does not work. VERY frustrating stay will never stay there again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel St John in Rome - outstanding value"
I travel all the time and everywhere in Europe, and would recommend this great hotel to anyone. Five minutes from the Manzoni subway station, 10 minutes from the Colosseum, this hotel is clean, modern, sophisticated with a great breakfast buffet and free internet access. HOtel has a very good locTIOn with only few minutes walk to Manzoni metro stop and only 2 stops to termini station. REceptionist is very helpful and friendly and guided us to all attractions. Rooms are slightly small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was very bad experience and very much below my expectations; the hotel was poorly maintained as floor carpet were very dirty and staff were not helpful or friendly. A little far from local nightlife, restaurants etc (min 15 min walk or taxi) and our shower had only cold water one day, but generally the rooms were small but clean and at a decent price, with friendly, helpful staff. Free wifi throughout the building.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was happy I switched to Eurostar Hotel from my previous one. The location was not too hard to find, close to train stations and the main road. Their service is nice and friendly, the staff speak good English. The breakfast buffet had a great variety.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Convenient and comfortable rather than posh. Brilliant breakfast (no fried food). Well priced.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great central location for short stays!"
The hotel was very pleasant and nice, helpful staff. However, was not happy that we got a room with 2 single beds pushed together to make a double. Wasn't the most comfortable thing ever! Also, at one point, my partner pulled the emergency line, (thinking it was the light switch), so we rang down at reception in case they were running to our safety! […] They didn't even have a clue, or just didn't seem to bothered the emergency cord was pulled! I'm just concerned if this was a sincere emergency, would they have actually come to the room? Forgetting these 2 points, the hotel is decent, clean, reasonably priced and very close to all the main attractions of Rome. 5-10 mins walk to Colosseum area, and then a bit further to the shopping area, fountain, spanish steps and the Vatican. We decided to walk everywhere (after a week stay, felt like we'd been in the gym everyday!), so if you don't mind walking, I'd definitely advise this rather than getting metro/bus etc. There are also some very nice tradition-style Italian restaurants near the hotel, if you want to get away from the touristy central parts of Rome! The prices are very reasonable as well! Overally, this was a great stay and glad we picked this hotel. It may not have been perfect, but there is plenty to do in Rome, so we hardly spent any time in the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

poor sound proofing. Window has poor sound proof with noise of passing traffic even when window was shut closed. You could also hear conversations from another room. Incomplete toilet wares.
