"A Four (for me Five) Stars marvelous Hotel"
We really liked the hotel and the room (both pretty nice and clean), from my experience in European hotels the room and the bathroom (except for the shower) were good sized. The place had great location; near Termini train station and Coliseum. It was an excellent experience. The staff was very helpful with everything. Breakfast was great, complete […] meal, even with scrambled eggs (10 euros). The only not so good experience we had, was with the Wi-Fi service (very slow and hard to access) and the computer at the lobby (we had to print other reservation tickets and it was very difficult to print them out, the computer mouse was broken…), even the staff was very concern and even shame about the situation but they did everything that was on their hands. We'll say it was the perfect choice for accommodation in Rome, putting aside the technology deficiencies (although I think it is a problem around Italy and not just at the hotel). To the hotel: I will suggest them to get proper equipment! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A couple of nights in Rome"
The hotel is somewhat close to the Colosseum, on a quiet side street, which is a big plus. Another plus is the amazing breakfast and the cappuccinos. The rooms are small for a 4-star hotel (by American standards), and the staff is helpful, but not overly so.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The smallest double room in the world"
I paid for a double room or two single beds room for 5 nights. The room that was assigned to me was actually a single room "converted" in double by putting two single beds one next to the other. There was literally no room to move or to open a suitcase. The refrigerator didn't work. No free outlets near to the desk to plug the laptop (it was always […] a choice between having the lamp on and working on the laptop). The manager explained that they had overbooked the rooms but this is hardly a good explanation for a four-star hotel! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice lobby, terrible rooms"
Unconfortable beds (two single beds pushed together), damp and humid room, no ventilation in the bathrooms, drainage problem of the sink and bath tub (took 3 minutes for water to drain! Which made washing baby bottles very messy and difficult!) , very small rooms with no drawers and no space to open the luggage, bad breakfast. You have to call the lobby […] to turn on/off the aircondition system. Overall definitely not a 4 star and very dissapointed!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great stuff / near metro station"
The hotel was very clean, near the Manzoni metro station (3 min walk). The stuff were very friendly & helpful. The breakfast was good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice hotel."
A very good hotel. You get your money value!!! Good service, clean comfortable quiet rooms and nice bath. The only problem is that it's not right in the centre of the tourist area, but if you don't mind 20 minutes walk or 10€ taxi, it's recommended. Good to know: the hotel charge 6€ per day for city tax.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pretty good hotel for the price"
There were a few things that were good. They were undergoing maintenance when we went so ceiling were being painted. The common bathroom really smelled bad though. The room though was quite nice. We were able to leave our stuff at the front desk since our room wasn't ready but all in all a great location. We were able to walk to the Collesium which […] was quite nice. Beds were pretty comfortable. Would recommend this place :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location in Rome"
The best thing about this hotel is the staff: very helpful and friendly. They'll give you directions, advice, tips and generally make you feel welcome. The bathroom had a bit of an unpleasant smell, but that could be as much due to Rome's plumbing system than the the hotel's. There's a fitness centre a few metres away, which is nice. It's also about […] a 5-minute walk to the Manzoni Metro station, which will get you to most areas of the city, and the #3 tram/bus line is very near. Other reviewers have complained about small rooms, but this one (a double) was fine, not huge, but adequate, and the bed was very comfortable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Walking distance to Colosseum, good location."
Hotel is very clean and very quiet. Staffs are very nice and helpful. Location is great, walking distance to the Colosseum. Hotel is also very close to the Metro A line, tram #3, bus#85 #87 which it can take you to every must see sights. Great Italian breakfast!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Do not trust this picture which is taken from a school. This hotel just locates inside a very small street. There is no plaza in front of it.You have to go out of the small street for few minutes to take a taxi. There is only one resterant 500 meters around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"visit to Rome"
hotel staff very curtiusGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I travel frequently in Europe and particularly in Italy, so I know what to expect when it comes to a European hotel at the Saint. Johns price point. That being said the Saint. John underwhelmed in every possible way. The upkeep of the hotel is horrible and ownership should absolutely be ashamed. The carpet throughout the building including the guest […] rooms is stained, tattered, and pungent with a foul odor from years of neglect. The walls are in desperate need of paint and repair. The amenities along with everything else you touch in the place are cheep and poorly designed. The service team is clearly jaded, by years of handling the same complaints time and time again, and wholly disinterested in anything other than collecting a paycheck and leaving the building as quickly as possible. I actually had to request 7 bath towels to lay down on the floor of my room so that i could walk through it without turning my socks and or the bottom my feet black from filth. I highly, highly recommend that you do not book here. Rome has some amazing hotels operated with great care and passion at a very similar price point. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel but do not think it as four stars"
The hotel is good based on Europe standards. The room is small like lots of others. The free wifi is big plus for us. Breakfast is pretty good although a kind of tired of it after staying more than three days. The location is good-not in the heart of the city but a short walk. Our biggest problem is with the carpet (quite dirty) and the extra blanket […] ( smell bad and we did not use it). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and friendly"
Staff was very professional and helpful. The hotel offers free internet, but it's a little slow. The Colosseum is a 10 minute walk away, and there is a subway station less than a block away for the subway train that runs past the vatican.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very small room"
The room was extremely small, with just enough space to walk around the bed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not in tourist area"
The hotel was quite expensive for the size of the room. However, Rome itself is expensive and this particular weekend was quite crowded. The room was very small, but very clean and well furnished. The bathroom was also very clean and nicely done. This location is great for those who either want to take cabs or like to walk. Otherwise, it can be difficult […] if you're looking to be close to the traditional sights of Rome (other than the Colosseum). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice for the price"
It was a small room, but not unexpected for Europe. Clean and comfortable. The staff was very kind and helpful. They spoke English very well. Close to many tourist sites. Would definitely recommend it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff at the front desk were not very helpful - they always seemed to busy or annoyed to answer any questions you might have. They didnt make you feel welcomed in the hotel, especially that this was the first time I was in Rome. The Staff in the dinning area were friendly and courteous and made you feel welcomed. ""4 star" features, but 3 star stay"
We stayed here for 5 nights, as our last leg of our 1 yr anniversary trip to Italy. It was a comfortable stay in a quiet but small (expected in the city) the bed was nice, the shower had mold and the carpet turned my socks brown everyday. I wish breakfast was included. It seemed like a nice breakfast but was expensive p/p. It was a 10-15 min walk to […] the colleseum, but the walk is along a nasty street where homeless ppl sleep and it stinks. The metro was nice and very conveniently located, along with the Termini station. The only great service we received was from Maria, ( or Mirna, I can't remember what her name tag said ) but she was very helpful, she one day booked a tour for us and on the last day when we were leaving for flight home she helped us SOOO MUCH! Everyone who worked here failed to let us know that the Metro ( our plan to get to the airport ) was planning on a typical STRIKE! So, benounce to us we didn't book another means of transportation and this whole situation could of been diverted if we were notified of the possible STRIKE. Maria called several ppl for us trying to get a taxi or anything! She was finally able to get us a taxi and when it arrived she even went outside and talked him into taking us to the airport and only for a certain rate. We were so thankful for her, with the sircumstances we had. And if she didn't do all that she did, we probably would of missed our flight. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Jewel in UberPricey Rome"
After being quoted insane rates at other hotels, we read a few reviews and took a chance...it was well worth it. Mirta, the front desk manager, was absolutely fantastic, even getting us a prime table at rooftop restaurant facing the Coliseum...on Holy Thursday! "Hot time in Rome"
As far as location, this hotel was great. right near the metro and within reasonable walking distance to major sites. Hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. "Small improvements would help"
Most front desk staff are terrific, but one was not very helpful. Room was generally warm. Could use an extra chair. Bathroom sink drained too slowly. Hotel promptly fixed it, but the problem reappeared in a day. Water in the cups not emptied daily and cups never washed during stay! We visited other cities, while still keeping the room. Upon returning […] found the cups rather unhygienic! Breakfast menu had limited vegetarian choice, but was satisfying. Close to buses, metro station and attractions. Would stay again. "Moved hotel on arrival, terrifying location."
On arrival to our hotel we were overjoyed with the location, just down the road from the Collosseum and in a really nice area with an abundance of restaurants. However on reception in the hotel, we were told our floor was having electrical faults and so we would be moved to a different hotel. Me and my friend who I travelled with are two 21 year old […] girls, have never been to Rome before, and had our trip meticulously planned in order to facilitate costs, travel times, etc. Therefore we were understandably pretty worried about the situation. After trying to negotiate with the reception staff, as we think they did actually have rooms available, we were told point blank that we had to move to their other hotel. The hotel staff told us that it was very nice internally but when we asked whether the location was "nice" and "safe" the male representative shook his head. We asked for a partial refund as our location was a great deal further from the sightseeing locations, and therefore would cost is a lot more in travel, but the man told us that they would not do that as that was the responsibility of expedia, which I thought was disgusting. Instead he offered us complimentary breakfast and a room upgrade "but not a suite". We reluctantly agreed as we had no other choice. We actually ended up staying at the Eurostar Rome Aeterna hotel which was nice but located directly next to graffiti and intimidating gangs of men - not safe. "Better than nice hotel. Surprising good location ."
Walked all over Rome for a quick 6 hours. One astonishing site after another. A complete overload of architecture , art, sculpture , people and marble. Staff suggested a great small restaurant just around the corner at reasonable prices. Buoni Amichi has great food and that's saying something after 25 days on a cruise.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location but needs work"
This hotel is ok for Europe (terrible by US/Canadian standards) but is in desperate need of some maintenance. My bathtub leaked and the bed though large was extremely uncomfortable. That said the location is amazing with easy walking to the colosseum and nearby metro stations, and there were signs of some maintenance work being done while I was there. […] I wouldn't recommend this hotel but I may give it another chance in the future once they have had some time to fix it up. The staff was kind a courteous on the breakfast was very good. "Family city break"
To begin with the directions from the Metro were unclear. To get there go on the Metro "A" line to station Manzoni. Then walk along the Viale Manzoni and take second left onto Via Matteo Boiardo. On arrival all was good. Friendly staff, prompt check in. There was painting going on due to previous reviews about decor being dated. The receptionist also […] pre-warned us that the somewhat less than clean carpets were going to be replaced. Then to the room. These were disappointingly small. There wasn't sufficient facilities for two people to totally unpack. E.g. there were no draws for underwear, and the closet was very small. The closet door only just cleared the bed and we had to go sideways to pass each other. We had a "lovely" view of the sports yard of the local sports college, and school playground. The website somewhat misleadingly gives a view of some arched pallasades and a court yard as if these are part of the hotel. They aren't. They are part of the school. This was noisy early and late into the evening. The windows are double glazed but it was too warm to have them closed. Wi-fi worked fine. Bathroom was very nice, again if a little "compact". Fresh clean towels and linen. We didn't take breakfast but it looked very nice. Main attractions are within easy public transport reach. Number 3 tram or A line metro. All staff were lovely and polite, and very attentive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great central location for short stays!"
The hotel was very pleasant and nice, helpful staff. However, was not happy that we got a room with 2 single beds pushed together to make a double. Wasn't the most comfortable thing ever! Also, at one point, my partner pulled the emergency line, (thinking it was the light switch), so we rang down at reception in case they were running to our safety! […] They didn't even have a clue, or just didn't seem to bothered the emergency cord was pulled! I'm just concerned if this was a sincere emergency, would they have actually come to the room? Forgetting these 2 points, the hotel is decent, clean, reasonably priced and very close to all the main attractions of Rome. 5-10 mins walk to Colosseum area, and then a bit further to the shopping area, fountain, spanish steps and the Vatican. We decided to walk everywhere (after a week stay, felt like we'd been in the gym everyday!), so if you don't mind walking, I'd definitely advise this rather than getting metro/bus etc. There are also some very nice tradition-style Italian restaurants near the hotel, if you want to get away from the touristy central parts of Rome! The prices are very reasonable as well! Overally, this was a great stay and glad we picked this hotel. It may not have been perfect, but there is plenty to do in Rome, so we hardly spent any time in the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
