Great hotel! Beautiful window overlooking the Grand Canal. Chandelier in center of room and air conditioning was best out of all hotels we've stayed at in Europe! Loved it.

"Some pluses, some minuses.."
We stayed here 2 nights. Incredible historic house with many Venetian architectural details, statuary, and mosaics. The patio on the grand canal was a great place to eat or hang with a drink, though you do have to fend off the pigeons. Room was cramped but comfortable. The A/C was controlled by a central control, and changes had to be requested over the phone, as explained by the porter. I didn't like that all the water, juice, etc. in the mini fridge was extra. It's a little thing, but come on. Immediately next to the vaporetto stop, which was convenient. We also stayed at Ca Marie Adele, which we liked better for several reasons.

"Beautiful hotel with wonderful service"
We loved our stay - it's a beautiful hotel in a fun area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. Our only surprise/disappointment was that I had booked it because it advertises hot tub/roof terrace and my twelve year old was really looking forward to that - and it does look beautiful but there was a card saying it was 70 Euro/hour to enjoy which we could not afford ... it would have been very helpful to say that on the website. We could have budgeted for it or I could have chosen differently. All in all though - except for a sad child - it was nice.

"Fantastic, once you find it!"
This is a gorgeous hotel in a perfect location at a reasonable price (close to many things but not on a busy street). We loved the hotel but have these tips: It is important to know that it is right at a vaporetto (the water taxi) stop on the #1 orange line (Ca Rezzonico). DO NOT TAKE THE BLUE LINE FROM THE AIRPORT (we were misinformed by 2 different airport employees how to get there and it took forever to get there this way). Also, the telephone number listed by hotels.com was wrong so we could not call for directions so get the correct number otherwise. We were there during the highest tides and the first floor room we got was a bit damp so ask for a higher floor. It is a great hotel.

"Excellent!"
I was almost tempted not to rate this hotel and keep it my secret, but the staff was so nice and helpful, I could not be that selfless. The hotel was beyond what I expected! I am an International Flight Attendant for an American Air Line and have high standards and was extremely satisfied with my stay here. It is easy to transfer to and from the airport, the location was good and the bathroom in my room was amazing! I was in Venice for the Vogalonga and will be staying here again next year! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

"Wonderful Stay"
This hotel is lovely. It is right on the grand canal and 20 steps from the Ca' Rezzonico vapporetto stop. When my husband and I arrived, they told me that I had booked a "single" room, which is just for one person. They were able to find us another room and added an extra charge for the extra person. The room and bathroom were very nice and up to date, which was great because the building itself is very old. Breakfast was great with a great selection of fresh fruit, breads, cereal, juice, and European breakfast of sliced meats and the more American eggs and bacon. Plus, you get to eat on the patio right on the grand canal. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay at Hotel Palazzo Stern. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic location, far from the throngs of tourists, near the Guggenheim and Accademia. The vaporetto stop is right in front of the hotel. Perfect! Some great restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had planned to visit Murano. The Stern staff's strong recommendation we visit Burano added an extra dimension to being in Venice that we would not have experienced otherwise. We would most definitely stay here again.

"Great stay in Venice"
This hotel is in an excellent location! Central to just about everything and right next to the vaporetto stop (slow line, I think it's line 1.) It sits right on the Grand canal with a wonderful terrace overlooking the canal. Our room was a 1st floor room and you could here passer bys but nothing that bothered us. Excellent size by italy standards and very nice bathroom. Great restaurants within close proximity recommend by the kind staff. Would definitely stay here again if and when we return!

"Beautiful hotel with great service"
Lovely hotel, we really enjoyed our stay. Upon our arrival the staff got out a map and gave us a quick overview of where the hotel was and where all the major sites were and how to get to them - very helpful. Our room was great, although the shower was strange - it had no walls, just a curtain so the bathroom floor tended to get very wet. A minor inconvenience. Would definitely stay there again.

"Boutique hotel on Grand Canal in Venice"
The Palazzo Stern Hotel is handsome, well run, and conveniently located for cultural tourism. My room was spacious, very quiet, and pleasantly decorated. The bathroom was modern and immaculately clean. The public rooms are handsome. It is next to the Ca' Rezonnico museum and the vaporetto stop of the same name, on Route One, a few minutes away from the Grand Canal.

Beautiful hotel, well-furnished room and bath, Murano glass chandeliers. Location was great, right on the Grand Canal, but out of the tourist crush. It's an easy and interesting 20 minute walk (or 30 minute stroll, especially if it's crowded) or short vaporetto ride to Piazza San Marco. There is a vaporetto stop right next door, and it's about a 5-10 minute walk to the next stop at the Accademia Gallery. The hotel staff was very helpful and efficient. They arranged Vivaldi concert tickets, showed me how to find my way around by providing a map and excellent directions, and recommended excellent places for dinner just a few minutes away--always with a smile. Breakfast was delicious and in a lovely setting. Everyone I encountered seemed genuinely interested in assuring that I enjoyed my stay at their hotel and in their city.

"Beautiful hotel on the Grand Canal!"
When you enter this hotel you feel like you are stepping into history! Walking up to the second floor you see magnificent mosaics like you would view at a church; just beautiful! The rooms are great and we had a side view of a canal and garden area in the back. All of the hotel staff were extremely helpful and we especially enjoyed having wine on the front deck facing the Grand Canal; definitely ask Dennis for his recommendation! You will be in a quieter part of Venice but we found great restaurants and actually enjoyed being away from the large groups of tourists in places like Rialto. You will also have a Vaparetto stop right next to the hotel for easy access to other areas of Venice. This was our last stop on a two week tour through Italy; thanks to The Palazzo Stern for helping us make Venice the perfect place to end our journey! We cannot wait to visit Venice again and we will definitely stay at The Palazzo Stern!

"Perfect location in the most beautiful palazzo"
We had a fabulous time staying at Palazzo Stern. Wonderful architecture and a great terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. Away from the madding crowds but with a waterbus (vaparetto) stop next door, we could get to any location easily. We bought a weekly pass and utilized it every day. The only negative is that the rooms overlooking the Grand Canal can hear the vaparetto at night. Rooms overlooking the narrow side canal would be quieter but would have limited view. The blocks behind the hotel have nice, quiet restaurants.

"Room was very small"
The location was great - just steps from the Ca Rezzonico water bus stop- as were the amenities. The only complaint is that we paid extra to have a "deluxe room" as opposed to a standard. Given the size of the room, I cannot even imagine how small a standard would have been. It was tiny! However, it was clearly a nice hotel with good service. Breakfast each day was delicious.

""5 Star" Palace Charm matches "5 Star" Service!"
Let's start with the perfect location of this stunning 18th century palace-- with a lovely terrace opening onto the Grand Canal and it being adjacent to both a vaporetto and a traghetto stop. The palazzo's glittering mosaic interiors were matched by the friendliness, efficiency, and travel advice provided by all of the staff-- from the front desk receptionists to the breakfast waiters. "Beautiful Venetian Hotel in a Good Location"
We wanted to visit art galleries to look at the old Venitian Art Masters - and this hotel is a fantastic location to get the Accademia - in walking distance; Museum Ca Rezzonica is literally next door to the hotel; Scoula Grande san Rocca a short walk away! Transport to and from the Airport (using the orange line 15 euros one way) takes just over 1 hour and the stop Ca Rezzonica - which is just outside the Hotel itself. There are great restaurants close by just down small alleyways by turning left down the alleyway next to the hotel and carrying on passed the square. 2nd floor atrium in the hotel well worth climbing the stairs to see if you are not on the 2nd floor - huge chandelier plus interesting mosiacs. We didn't use the roof jacuzzi - but an interesting idea. The hotel looks out to the Grand Canal - and there is a small canal to the side of the hotel - which was a perfect setting to experience Venice. Rooms extremely clean & comfortable, buffet breakfast was excellent - staff v friendly and attentive. Hotel was perfect for us!

"Couples weekend"
Hotel is overall absolutely lovely. As scenic as a location as you could wish for in Venice, right on the Grand Canal. However, the room situation is scandulous, for the amount money you pay. You get a standard room, i never realised or saw anywhere that standard room meant room with no views, just the attic! To get a garden or canal view, you need to book a deluxe view room, please keep that in mind when booking here. Also worth noting, is the cost of a drink at the bar, glass of Rose and a Whiskey 24Euros, better value in the bars that are not 2 minutes away up the alley that leads to the Hotel. The Hotel is very clean and very pleasant on the eye, with a decent breakfast served in the morning, and WiFi that is free and actually works, even in the attic. Overall, its nice, and in line with cost of Venice Grand Canal Hotels, but i feel you are deserving of more for your money overall.

Beautiful hotel in the Dorsoduro district, overlooking the Grand Canal. When we arrived we were we met by the very helpful concierge who provided us with drinks and a map whilst checking-in. The service was impeccable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is stunning, it is a Moroccan style and looks like a castle. The room was very impressive with a comfortable bed. It was very quiet so made for a great night's sleep. We had breakfast on the terrace overlooking the canal which was lovely. The food was very good and there was lots of choice. Free wi-fi which also worked well. When we asked for a later check-out, the concierge was very obliging.

This is a lovely hotel in a perfect location. It is on the Grand Canal in Dorsoduro area of Venice, right next to the vaporetto stop Ca Rezzonico, which is also one of the stops for the Airport water bus. Also the hotel is one of a few with a beautiful terrace right on the water in front of the hotel, (which most hotels do not have) so it is possible to have breakfast there in the morning and drinks through the day and evening while watching Venetian life go past. "Excellent hotel"
I visited the hotel stern on the 24th to 27th July. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. The service from staff was excellent if you wanted any information i.e about museums, directions or any issues. They were always willing to help. They also came across very friendly. The bar man Denis was fantastic as he was really helpful and friendly and always came across polite. The room we stayed in was 302 which was fantastic it was a deluxe room that was really comfy and the air conditioning was fantastic as we needed to cool down on the Friday. The rooms were always cleaned to a high standard and also left you a note to tell you what the weather would be like for the next day. The bathroom was stylish and very big. Having breakfast on the terrace made the hotel stand out as the view to cable was beautiful just watching the boats go by as you eat breakfast also we came back every night and sat on the terrace having a drink which was quite romantic. I would definitely try to go to this hotel if I ever go back to venice. The hotel was in a quite area but still had cafés and a few shops but it wasn't a bad walk to San Macro square or the Rialto bridge. Took 10min walk to each of them but it was nice to walk through the narrow lanes and over small canals. Also the airport shuttle water bus stopped outside the hotel. We had a excellent stay and plan to go back to this hotel in a few years.
