we stayed 4 nights, the room was very small but clean. The bathroom was so small, unconfortable. Location was excellent, near the Acropolis. Staff: only Maria was very helpful and nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent hotel for great price."
The Attalos Hotel is a good hotel with decent pricing in Athens. The neighborhood is good and its location is fantastic. If you are looking for a clean place close to every attraction Attalos hotel is the place to be.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not a 3 Star!"
When traveling, my requirement is always to have clean room. I never thought adding "updated clean room" to my requirements. The hotel was clean, and the staff was nice, but this is definitely not a 3 star hotel. The furniture and bathroom amenities was definitely, at best, 2 star. Everything looked like it was from the 80's. My husband even said how […] this reminded him of some of the hotels he visited in the middle east back when he was a young boy. You couldn't tell the hair dryer was a hair dryer, it was a large box like thing with an accordion hose, like you would see on a vacuum cleaner, and the shower was hand held. There was a fixture you could hang it on, but it was in the center of the tub which got the entire bathroom wet if you didn't face it to the wall (which then meant that you had to practically lean up against the wall to get the water). The location was definitely good, but I wouldn't stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The neighborhood may be a little shabby, but this hotel was excellent. Great, friendly staff from the front desk to the bar on the roof. Clean, equipped rooms. Great value and so close to plaka and acropolis. Metro stop right down the street. Would definitely return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very convenient to major historical sights"
Hotel staff was very accommodating, allowing early checkin and late check out. Room was a step above basic, since it had telephone, TV with a couple of English language channels, hair dryer, and bathtub. A lot of noise was communicated between bathrooms, but the room itself didn't have those problems. Balcony overlooked a lot of graffiti, but that's […] Athens. We enjoyed our stay, since the hotel was conveniently located to Metro and to major historical sites. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and View"
The hotel is in a good location 5 minutes from Monastaki Square. And the metro to the Airport and Port. A very easy walk to the accopolis and from the rooftop bar the best view of the Acropolis. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Also has breakfast so that was good for us. The only problem we had was that the TV had no sound.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A excellent hotel for people interested in Athens"
Situated in the heart of Athens, in the geometrical center of most important historical sites, this hotel is the ideal choice for people interested in seeing Athens and its surroundings rather than sleeping and drinking in a 5-star hotel. The front desk was attended around the clock by courteous and helpful staff. We arrived there in a state of despair […] after having been robbed (new iPhone 5) by a team of professional thieves operating in the airport metro. The hotel manager in charge promptly assisted us in contacting AT&T in the USA in order to close our wireless account, and then gave directions to the police station to report the theft. The cost of the international call was absorbed by the hotel, hence we did not have to pay anything for this service. In the subsequent days, we received precise directions to all the sites we wanted to visit. The rooms are equipped with some of the most silent air-conditioning units, which differentiates them from more expensive hotels, all equipped with powerful and noisy units. The hotel has an office room where we have able to access our Internet accounts in our special situation (lost smart phone). Also, we have been able to watch the news on a state-of-the-art LCD TV set. Altogether, the hotel matched all our expectations based on its description in its Expedia.com entry. We will continue to use Expedia.com in all our future travel arrangements. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Greece with a smile"
The Attalos Hotel met all of our expectations. It was well located, especially when we could see the Parthenon from the rooftop garden . Within easy walking distance of a subway. "Not fancy, but excellent location and views."
This hotel and the rooms are basic and clean, so don't expect a Hyatt type experience. However, it is just a one minute walk from the metro line, and a block away from the Plaka and tavernas. The views of the Acropolis from the rooftop deck are fantastic, and many of the rooms have patios with views as well. The breakfast is sufficient with hardboiled […] eggs, Greek yogurt, fruit, cereal, tea, coffee, pastries, etc.. They have WIFI in th rooms, and computers with a printer downstairs. Overall, it is a good choice if staying in Athens for a few days. The rooms are very basic and okay, and we were fine with them since we were gone all day sightseeing. The staff were friendly and very helpful. They gave good recommendations. The location is excellent. It is walking distance from just about everything. Anything not in walking distance is a short train ride away. And the train...walking distance. The hotel is surrounded great food and entertainment. "Good clean basic hotel"
The Attalos Hotel in Athens is a good, clean, basic 2 star hotel. It is 2 blocks from the subway, and 4 blocks from the start of the climb to the Acropolis. I would highly recommend a stay if you want to be close to Souvlaki row, tourist sites, and to have easy access to the subway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location of the hotel is the best part. It is on a busy street not far from a metro stop. There are vendors and a lot of shops on this street. The hotel is also not far from the flea market, which has even more shops! The hotel was okay. You get what you pay for. When I went, they were repairing the top two floors. Breakfast was included, but I […] did not eat from the hotel. I actually had two rooms, as they switched me half way through my stay. They said the water would be off in my old room. The first room was small. It consisted of two twin beds. I didn't really feel it was all that clean. The bathroom was super small. Stand up shower. Small, old television with a couple of english channels. Free wifi. The second room was way better. It was bigger and included a balcony. It seemed newer/cleaner. The bathroom was bigger and included a tub. The bed was queen size. If you can choose, I suggest getting a room with a balcony. On a side note: A lot of the sites close early, like 2:00 pm. I don't know if this is just a seasonal thing or not. You can get a ticket from the Acropolis that lets you see other sites as well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Just north of the tourist central of Monastiraki square make this a well located hotel . "BEST Athens Hotel: Fantastic Staff & Location"
The Attalos is the best hotel in Athens. The location is fantastic and cannot be beaten-- it's right between the Plaka and Psiri; safe location and within walking distance of everything that a tourist would want to see. The room was impeccably clean, and although simple, was everything one would need. The rooftop bar is beautiful, free Wi-Fi and a real […] computer lounge is a nice touch. Best of all, however, is the FANTASTIC STAFF-- they were nice, always available, had great suggestions for everything, including jogging paths, best times to visit attractions, and were cheerful and awake when we had to leave at 3am for the airport. "Perfect location, amazing rooftop lounge."
This hotel is in a great location; near the Acropolis, Mostariki Station, Plaka, market, ect. The room is small and the bathroom was very cozy, but I expected as much for a in-town European hotel. "Overall a very good home base for a trip to Greece"
Staff were very straightforward and always available twenty-four hours. Room maintenance was regular and satisfactory. Lounge area / internet access was satisfactory (with no problems printing boarding passes, etc.) and air-conditioned. Wi-fi also worked in the hotel room. Breakfast buffet included a number of options (fruits and veggies, cheeses, […] meats, rolls, cereals, juice, coffee, milk) and had convenient hours for those waking up very early or a little later. Rooftop bar wasn't always stocked with EVERYTHING you might want, but the bartender was friendly and reasonable. The view from the top of the hotel is gorgeous and relaxing at night, when the air has cooled off some. The geographical location of the hotel is pretty convenient, near the Monasteráki metro station. You can walk to many of the major tourist sites or shopping areas, or there's easy metro access. The hotel staff can also call you a cab. In addition, many of the day-tour coach buses can pick you up directly from here. Overall, this place was a very good home base for my trip. This hotel is not a luxury palace, but has internet, a/c, great showers, etc. The rooftop bar is GREAT-it is for guests of the hotel, and you can buy a drink if you want or just sit and look at the fabulous view of the Acropolis. The people are very friendly and helpful, and speak English. The only small downside is that they charge for breakfast-but […] we just went to the awesome coffee bar across the street. This hotel was recommended in my Athens travel book and a few other websites I used when researching for our trip, and it totally lived up to the recommendations. The location is amazing - steps away from the Monastiraki metro stop and the Monastiraki flea market, and within walking distance of the Acropolis and the neighborhoods of Psiri and Plaka, […] which are really nice areas for eating, shopping, and strolling around. We opted not to get breakfast at the hotel, but there are really nice cafes and restaurants a few steps away. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked for recommendations for evening activities. The rooms were decent and mostly clean. There was a rug in our room that probably could have been vacuumed more often. The bathroom was a little cramped. Our room had a balcony, and there is also a nice view of the Acropolis from the rooftop bar. The room was air conditioned, though the AC doesn't run when you're not in the room, so it was pretty hot whenever we came back. Also, considering that this hotel is located on a pretty busy street, the rooms are very nice and quiet. They also have a luggage storage room, which we used on our last day after checking out. There is no attendant in the room itself, but they said they have cameras to monitor it. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Athens. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent hotel, Great location"
Our family of four stayed at the Attalos for 6 nights in November 2011. At first glance, the neighborhood looks a bit sketchy, but I never felt unsafe. The staff was very helpful. We enjoyed staying at this hotel mostly because of the great service at the front desk....the view of the Acropolis is fantastic...two blocks from the Krakos neighborhood which is great....if I was to offer one recommendation it would be you need new pillows and a new longer shower curtain....but all in all would recommend to our friends.Genuine Expedia guest review

The hotel has seen better days (furnishings are older), but the room was clean. I walked to the acropolis and around the markets from the hotel. The neighborhood was fine, but I was in by 8pm. "good location to sights"
Hotel basics: I found Attalos to be very typical of European hotels. Small hotel, with a small elevator, and small rooms. We did not have breakfast included, so we did not eat at the hotel. Our room faced the courtyard, which I believe is ideal at this hotel because it is located on a busy street. The beds were extra firm (we have a pillow top bed at […] home, so this was uncomfortable for us), so if you like that, then they were good. There are plenty of pillows and extra blankets in the room too. There is a TV, small fridge, and telephone in the room. No clock/alarm clock. But the hotel does offer wake up calls. The roof top deck is fantastic…great views of the city and the Acropolis. Whenever you leave the hotel, you will leave your room key at the front desk (a somewhat standard procedure in Europe). I would stay at this hotel again. Other tidbits: By tram/train, it takes about 45 minutes to get to the airport to and from this hotel. It takes less time to get to/from Pireas port (about 20 minutes). Athens has a lot of graffiti. The Attalos hotel is located in the central area of Athens, so the street it is located on (Athenas) is heavily graffiti. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great deal in the heart of Athens"
I stayed at a few hotels during my stay and the Attalos provided by far the best combination of affordability, location and comfort. It isn't anything fancy, but it is very affordable and in a really prime location in the heart of the city. The beds aren't the most comfortable, but the rooms on higher floors had great views, if somewhat small windows […] to see them from. The room is not a place you'll want to hang out and while away the day, but if you're just looking for a place to stash your clothes and grab some sleep between full days of sightseeing or business (I was in town for both), it really can't be beat.
