"Great hotel close to harbour, walk everywhere."
Hotel is beautiful and the proximity to downtown, harbour, Viaduct, restaurants etc. is superb. Room very clean, huge bathroom and all the amenities. Highly recommend. Staff can't do enough for you. Wonderful experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
"View and bed Super !"
Wonderful hotel and staff . First stay in NZ and was so happy we chose the Sofitel. Marina view definitely worth the extra and the best bed . Very soft which is what I love and gorgeous linen . Thank youGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great food at Lava"
Nice stay, food at the Lava was great, but the exhaust in the open Kitchen can be better.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"5 star location for quiet period of the year"
Very pleased overall, definitely will be booking room with a view next time though! Hotel itself is stunning, rooms can be improved, but I am being picky. Great location for holiday stay. Close to everything. I wouldn't suggest booking room with windows looking onto the main road during the year. It could get quite busy there.Genuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful hotel with fantastic staff. Rooms were great. We had a Luxury Marina View room which was lovely and moved to a city view King room for the last night, which was also a nice room and very large. We got a good deal as we prepaid for the Marina view prior to coming, and had to pay more for a room two levels lower for the last night. So hotel […] is expensive, but if you can get a decent price (which is still fairly expensive) it's worth it. We didn't eat at the restaurant as the choices were not up our alley. We did have food in the bar from their menu, and it was good. Location is amazing. Right at the Viaduct where all the restaurants/bars are and only a short walk to the main downtown shopping street (Queen Street). All in all we were very happy with this hotel. "Good hotel, poor service"
Very nice looking hotel, and the room was very nice. But service was awful--it's better in a hostel! Took 45 minutes to have my bag delivered; an hour to get a blanket, and these despite repeated calls. When the staff apologize for delays (which happen anywhere), and sy they will get right on to it, then they should. But didn't. To put icing on the […] cake, they damaged my car during their compulsory valet service. And again, failed to get back to me with deatils until I specifically asked. "Nice hotel with attentive staff"
Lovely hotel located on the harbour. A little out of the main hub but close enough to stroll to Queens Street and Princes Wharf with ease. Excellent location for The Wynyard Quarter restaurants and for business travellers with Vodafone, HP, KPMG and Microsoft buildings right across the street. The staff were very friendly and attentive, service always […] came with a smile. Lava restaurant very good and they take the Advantage Plus Card giving 50% discount on food. "Good hotel great for viaduct restaurants and bars"
Enjoyed 5 nights as a short break in Auckland in a hotel perfectly positioned for access to the ferries, the viaduct and many excellent bars and restaurants. The hotel would suit business or holiday travellers, it is mostly beautifully maintained, and our room was big and very spacious. Somewhat quirky that the French hotel chain insists on staff greeting […] guests in French - not really why people travel to New Zealand. Limited room towels, but otherwise a superb bathroom, a great coffee machine and range of teas. Breakfast charge of NZ$39 per head is quite ridiculous, but travellers to NZ will soon realise that NZ is now a very expensive place to travel to - be prepared for a NZ$100 taxi fare from the airport if you travel other than off peak times, and NZ$15 for what would cost SIN$4 in Singapore. Soul Bar and Bistro is a must place to go for superb food. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great position on Viaduct Harbour. The room was very spacious, but a bit like living in a fish bowl as you could be seen from other rooms and see into other rooms. Hanging space for clothes was very limited (about 4 hangers), and no space at all for storing sweaters or other clothing(had to lay it out on the couch!) I also dislike the mousy colours […] of the decor (I would much prefer greens, blues or lemons) Wifi wasn't provided with the room cost. The ensuite was huge with bidet and his and hers basins as well as a huge bath tub (which we didn't use) and plenty of towels were provided. The shower was of good size with both take down spray arm and shower rose alternatives. The bed was king size and comfortable. There were two balconies but no furniture to sit outside if you wished. Staff were friendly when you came across them, which wasn't very often. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Never go back?"
Overall is alright but seriously need to train staff and improve service. It is a 5 star hotel guys! I should've not expected that much...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was my partners birthday and our stay was welcomed by birthday greetings from the restaurant staff and others. A special plate of chocolate and flowers made it a magnificent stay for the 2 nights. Very good staff, wonderful views over the viaduct. Definitely will stay againGenuine Expedia guest review
Stayed for business, and found it convenient for the cbd, but nicely felt away at night. Loads of good bars and restaurants close by, and the hotel bar has atmosphere and a nice outdoor area. I would recommend for business or pleasure- first class hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and found our stay at the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour to be extremely relaxing, effortless and luxurious. We liked the quiet and calm atmosphere, the extra touches throughout the public spaces and the well-designed room. The bed was extremely comfortable and we felt spoilt staying there and didn't want to leave. Staff were friendly and […] attentive yet not imposing at all and we couldn't have asked for anything better. My friend (who was not staying at the hotel) and I had a massage each which we both totally enjoyed; the spa was lovely and quiet, like a cocoon, and the massage therapists and staff caring and professional. I just wish we had stayed longer because we didn't get a chance to try out the restaurant. Oh well, next time! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We stayed in one of the suites for my hushbands 60th. The room was a little tired old furniture with chips & marks. But the overall stay was good, staff pleasent, plenty of good reataurants near by & walking distance for most attractions. Comfortable bed. A bit of a much up with ordered champagne & ballons, but it didnt spoil the stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outstanding Auckland hotel"
Had a wonderful time. The atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed. The staff were friendly and could not have been more helpful. The central location was great. We also enjoyed the gym, pool and spa facilities. We had a superb dinner at the restaurant. My husband would have preferred a greeting Kia ora rather Bonjour. The room was slightly small with only […] one chair. For 2 people we would have like 2 chairs. We will ask for a larger room next time as we will definitely go back. "great hotel for get away to relax !"
love the deco of the hotel lobby and surrounded by water, if you want a good quality 5 stars hotel to get away in Auckland, this is the place to be and it's only a short walk from all the trendy restaurants on the viaduct.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good location, beautiful interior design. All staffs were helpful and cheerful. Spent a bit on valet parking. Our "Luxury Room, Marina View" on the top floor looked perfect, it was spacious, very classy yet comfy, neat and tidy. With the Bose stereo I just placed my spare iPhone 4 (too bad it's not a Lightning port for iPhone 5S) on the dock and I played […] my own music. Stunning harbor view from the balcony. With just 5mins walk we reached a harbor-side restaurant/bar area and had a great dinner. We highly recommended it for those who wish for quality customer services, nice interior and gorgeous view. My first stay at a Sofitel, and I was duly impressed. I would definitely stay at another in the future! This is a beautiful hotel with very professional and personable staff at every spot. The concierge desk was consistently helpful, the cafe in the morning served the best coffee in the neighbourhood and both the restaurant and the bar were fabulous. […] Everyone went out of their way to make our stay the best. We had a great sleep and the room was truly cosy. My only small nit-picky point was the carpeting in the hallways and some of the painting through the hallways could be touched up. Nice location, although quite in the business district (deserted) but we could walk quickly to town and shops and restaurants. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice, well presented, staff polite."
We were there for the weekend. Enjoyed the bar, could not get a table on the restaurant, despite there were many empty. The breakfast Staff need serious training, coffee didn't arrived till the end, the next day they forgot one of the guess order. The Manager in charge was very polite and compensated the disappointment, but for a Hotel of this category […] this kind of mistake should not happen. The cleaniness of the room was very poor, they will prepare the bed's in the evening which is very nice, but will be perfect is they tidy up better and pick up the litter from the floor. Beside those working in progress issues, the hotel itself it is beautiful, the staff at the front desk very polite, will I come back? Yes I would! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable and stylish"
Auckland has a lack of stylish, modern hotels, so this Sofitel stood out. We had heard the Viaduct was a bit of a lifeless tourist zone, and it was, however it's only 10-15 mins walk from downtown so we didn't mind. We stayed in Room 312, which overlooked the marina. The view was nice and the room was very spacious, however a higher floor would've be […] better due to morning cafe noise at street level. The gym and pool were closed for renovations. This really should've be mentioned at the time of booking. Housekeeping came at 9am, and the turndown service was at 5pm. Both seemed way too early to me. Overall I would recommend this hotel. The setting was pretty, and walking distance to downtown. Staff were friendly and helpful. And it was a good base for our weekend in Auckland. Tips! Don't miss the coffee at Good One in Ponsonby, or the bircher museli at Federal & Wolfe in the city. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We weren't advised about the gym and the pool not being functional . The manager was good to give us a small waiver for the first 2 nights but for the next two nights he wasn't keen. The service was excellent . Very polite and very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Harbour side stay in a lovely hotel with good facilities. Well positioned to get around Auckland.Genuine Expedia guest review
Lovely welcome great personal service we were acknowledged by management of our anniversary with a beautiful cake and a hand written card, very nice touch.....our dinner was exceptional beautifully presented and pretty perfect. We were disappointed with the blandness of our room and the scraped furniture certainly needed a little more style and maintenance […] there perhaps a little colour flowers just some look of luxury the colour scheme was very uninspiring and no gorgeous bath salts for the bath!!!!!!!!! "Outstanding and genuinely caring staff"
My sister and I had a girls weekend away in AKL staying our first night here. When we found our room didn't have a king bed which could be divided back in to 2 singles, they immediately moved us to one which did. The staff member who'd already begun stripping the original bed and therefore had to make it up again was most apologetic and quickly sorted […] the room and bed out. Our porter Ben was very welcoming and wouldn't let us touch our bags once we'd walked thru the front door. We'd forgotten basics like toothpaste and a brush. A quick call to house-keeping and both items delivered within a couple of minutes of us calling. Breakfast in the morning and we chose From the menu. In the meantime, a shot of 'slim and sexy' was offered and accepted to start our day. Soon after, warm pastries were also brought around. Now how can you say no to that? All in all a great stay. We joked that the service was so good, that they may have thought we were mystery shoppers! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very Nice but annoyingly French"
Very nice hotel, great location etc. just very annoyed that I was greeted by staff in french all the time as it is french owned. Unexpected from a NZ hotel more than 14,000 kms from France, a native Maori Kia Ora would have been nicer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice hotel well situated to the Viaduct restaurants and bars. We stayed here because we couldn't get into the Langham.
