The staff at this hotel were very friendly and overall provided excellent service. One exception would be the daily maid service. This was very cursory. Not all towels replaced. Not all surfaces cleaned etc. Hotel is close to a large entertainment complex. This would be fine except the venue occasionally hosts soccer tournaments and we "enjoyed" the […] company of some fans in the hotel one night. This resulted in rowdy, noisy partying late into the night. Finally they set off the fire alarm around 4 a.m. Not a restful night. This fact alone would make me hesitate to stay at this property again. The management kindly offered to refund one night of our three night stay. Very nice porperty, Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and clean. Lots of towels, soap, shampoo conditioner. Hairdryer was powerful enough to move your hair. The hotel was perfectly located for our trip to Villa Park. The staff on reception were helpful and checked us in even though we arrived early and had a room ready for us. The room was large, clean and comfortable and the bed was also comfortable. Ideal for Star City and not too far from the city centre this was just what we were looking for. Plenty of different restaurants across the road at Star City which was just as well as the food at the hotel was basic though the breakfast was good as its in with the price of the room. The link on hotels.com claimed there was a gym at this hotel, there isn't. The website for the hotel itself makes no mention of a gym. Apparently there was a gym before they moved (according to reception).

Yes this is a cheap hotel with free parking so useful if you want to rush in and rush out with nothing else. The staff apart from the lady cleaning the breakfast away are not polite, when checking in they were talking to themselves and almost ignoring us. our room was right next to the main road so loud, the breakfast had a big option but the sausage […] were hardly cooked and the eggs very rubbery (stick to toast) try and avoid if you can. Comfortable stay - hotel looking a little tired but good price and just what we needed for a one night stop to break up a long journey. Star City has plenty of amenities and is a 2 min walk away. Would stay again without hesitation.

The hotel staff were exceptionally good-very friendly and helpful. The location is in a somewhat downbeat part of Birmingham, but easy to get to the centre (about 2-3 miles away). Hotel was very nice, clean, room was large along with bathroom. Very close to Star City, perfect location to attractions such a bowling, cinema and restaurants. Provided tea/coffee, towels, shampoo, conditioner (although the shampoo and conditioner were not of great quality so bring your own!) Really great hotel.

My friend and I had stayed for 3 nights in this hotel. Much improved I may say since the last time we stayed in this hotel. The staff are very helpful and the room allocated to us was quiet. There was a lot of variety of food at breakfast time. Location is quite good as well as it is ony a few minutes walk to Star City. Overall, I was quite impressed by the quality of the hotel, the room and the breakfast. We managed to get a cheaper rate through a deal, so it was definitely a bargain. My main disappointment was that the "kingsize" bed was actually 2 twin beds joined together. This made for a very uncomfortable night's sleep for my partner and I, and meant that we […] had to stick to our own side of the bed. I might as well have gone for a twin room!! Secondly, room service were overly keen to clean our room and this got quite annoying. The check out time was 12pm. So when we got the first knock on the door at 10.15am, I said we'd be out by 12. This was followed by another knock at a very inconvenient moment around 11am, where I had to repeat myself, and finally a third knock around 11.20am, where the person disappeared before I could open the door. My husband and Myself stayed at your hotel on the 14th July 2012. We came for our15th wedding anniversary. When we arrived we was greeted by very friendly staff and we were able to book in early. Designer for the breakfast self-service needs to go on a refresher course, e.g. access to fridge below the toaster where people congregate, etc. View from the rooms would not win any prizes - but this is a budget hotel.
