Lanna Mantra - Chiang Mai 18.83311, 98.99214

We stayed at Lanna Mantra in November 2008. It's a great little hotel, only 30 rooms of which 15 were occupied. It seems like a family run place -- the same people are at the front desk, at the restaurant, taking your bags and driving you to the city. The pool overlooking the river is very pretty, and free use of the computer in the lobby is a nice touch. The showers ran hot/cold every 2-3 minutes, and the AC was really loud, but the friendliness of the staff more than made up for it. Note that it's not actually in the city so you can't just wander around and see the sights or go to the night market. But we felt like it was a calm oasis. We happened to be there when the whole Bangkok airport closure incident happened, so our flight back home was cancelled. The staff were extremely helpful in reassuring us, checking the airport status, getting us bus tickets on a reputable coach service, and generally making the whole experience seem like just a minor inconvenience.

This hotel is located a little outside the city of Chiang Mai, so it is great if you want to relax and feel far away. It is about a 15 minute ride into Chiang Mai's old city, so if you're looking to be right there, this wouldn't be ideal. We really enjoyed this hotel and thought the staff was very friendly and attentive. Perfect for a low-key relaxing vactaion!

Pictures speak a thousand words, but the hotel was much more beautiful in person. If you're looking for spa treatments, this isn't your hotel. However, massages can be arranged in-room at request. The inclusive daily breakfast was a combination of a la carte and buffet. Staff was very helpful throughout our stay and their English was not a problem. E-mails were answered quickly! After booking, I contacted the hotel directly to arrange aiport pickup. The hotel apologized that they were unable to accomodate us the last night, but made arrangements at another boutique hotel, complimentary aiport/hotel transfers, room upgrade, thai set dinner for 2, and a gift for each of us. I was accompanied by the assistant hotel manager and owner of Lanna Mantra to the new hotel to make sure I was satisfied and checked in without any hassle.

Rooms were decent, beds not so comfortable, but grounds were beautiful! The staff was very nice and helpfull. I think we might have been the only guests at the time we were there

The hotel grounds and pool were stunning. The room was very nice. The bed mattress was harder than what I usually prefer but the king sized bed was more like a California king and the bathroom was small but clean and comfortable. The staff were WONDERFUL and always ready to assist. I would stay here again.
