Pudong epitomizes the new Shanghai. Built over the last 10 or so years, impressive skyscrapers dominate the area and include the Jinmao Building, which is the tallest in China. A trip to its summit yields tremendous views over the whole city. Pudong is predominantly a commercial center, with many financial institutions and trading houses calling it home.

I had chosen the this hotel as a result of it being highly regarded both with Hotels.com and Trip Advisor.com and that there was a deal on at the time of my visit on 19 Feb. Only staying for 1 night it is difficult to comment on all facilities at the hotel, but first impressions were good and no faults were noted.

I have stayed at the Shangri-la Pu Dong and the Ritz Carlton Portman in Shanghai many times over the last 5 years and I was stunned by the Eton. Great spacious room and about 2 long blocks from the Pearl Tower with a great view of the river as well as a subway station across the street. Service was great, hotel condition was excellent and the breakfast buffet was decent. Spa facilities were great, especially the pool. I will be staying again and recommending the jewel often.

The Eton Hotel is modern and nicely appointed. Although slightly off the beaten path in Pudong, having a metro stop right across the street (line 4) offsets that. Service was OK. Executive floor common area was very nice as was the offerings (food and drink) for executive floor guests. Views from higher floor rooms, especially on the river side, are outstanding. My only complaint, and not a minor one, was the buffet breakfast. Selection and quality of food were decidedly inferior to other 4 and 5 star hotels in China. Service was poor and the seats weren't especially comfortable. Not a great way to start the day. Overall, though, the Eton is a good value.

the hotel is nice enough.. and right on the metro.. but i just didnt like it. the room was very comfortable.. and i dont have any major complaints except that its way away from anything a tourist might want to do. plus.. the entire hotel had this weird chemical smell and taste. i felt kinda sick the day i spent inside the hotel... and a weird metal taste in the mouth. i know thats weird.. but i wouldnt stay there again. and the food in the restaurants wasnt great for the price.. and the area is bleak.

This is a very high quality hotel consisting of the upper 15 floors and lobby floors in a highrise office building. The staff were well trained, had good English skills and very helpful. The main disadvantage is the location. If you do not need to be in the new Pudong financial district, then this is not a convenient location to most attractions. However, a plus is that the subway/metro stops very closely. The rooms are well prices, but all services are at European levels. I paid 5 Euro to use a computer and internet for 10 minutes.

The property and staff are top notch. Rooms were exceedingly comfortable with incredible views of Pudong. The hotel is a little out of the way, but cheap cabs mitigate that issue and the hotel itself makes up for it.

My room overlooked the river and into downtown Shanghai. Quite a wonderful sight, especially at night when all the buildings are lit up! The room was wonderfully appointed and a great value for the money. It was easy to get into the heart of Shanghai by taxi or metro. I would definately stay here again on my next visit to Shanghai.

First impressions were excellent - position, appearance- room etc. We only had two negative points to make. We had difficulty getting the WiFi in the lounge and help was a bit scarce!!! Our attempt to eat at 9pm in the Chinese restaurant was met with most dishes unavailable - which was dissappointing - however we moved to the restaurant downstairs and that was great. The rest was fine - good value

Having stayed in a dreadful hotel in Beijing (Beijing International) of the same price, we were amazed by this hotel. Rooms are very slick, service is excellent and the standard of english was good (for china). There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the hotel too and the spa/pool bit was epic. They even have this weird quadruplet band in the bar that sing english songs in this high pitched chinese voice. Pretty amusing we thought. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We lapped it up, and to top it off it's named after my old school - essential destination for any OE's...
