Cabra Castle is fantastic. The staff was so kind and so very helpful. We arrived late and they still fixed a great meal for us. Our room was magical, just what you would expect in a castle, thick stone walls with beams in the ceiling. Yet our room had all the modern amenities which included free in the room wi-fi. We loved this castle. It was unbelievably beautiful. The landscaping was incredible. The fire in the lobby with lovely chairs and couches to sit on was great. Our room was lovely. They came in and turned down the bed and put a mint on the pillow. Dinner was great. It was a set price but well worth it. We had a terrific breakast and hung around the lobby […] in the morning by the fire side and read the paper - we didn't want to leave. The grounds & golf course are really beautiful, and the main castle hotel is fairly well-kept with period pieces. It is obviously dated, but it simply adds to the charm of the place. I am an animal lover and currently own a service dog back in the states. However the dogs on the site, while friendly, muddied my sons clothes, while playing golf they chased & ran off with our balls & one was almost hit by our golf club when tee'ing off. It's not every day you get to stay in a castle. It was a fun experience. A huge, friendly Irish Wolfhound greeted us at the reception; very Hound of the Baskervilles. There was construction in the castle, which cause a heating problem in our original room. I mentioned it to the front desk and within minutes we had someone there to check it out and […] space heaters to warm the place up. When that didn't do it, I went back to the desk and before I could say anything, I was asked about the temperature of the room. When I said it was still cold, they gave me keys to another room and said, "Take a look at this one and change rooms, if it is better. Let us know if you need someone to carry your bags." We really enjoyed our stay at Castle Cabra. It was a gorgeous hotel nestled away in the woods. Definitely more grand than we had expected. The castle itself was amazing and you are staying in a castle with modern day amenities. It doesn't get much better than that.

Visited Cabra Castle for a wedding celebration. Enjoyed my stay. would have liked to stay in the courtyard accommodation, but on arrival was booked into one of the Cottages on the Castle grounds.It was very comfortable but lacked the atmosphere and character of the castle/courtyard accommodation.

While the hotel was very nice,we had booked a smoking room and had recieved confirmation of same,only to be told on arrival that the hotel has a no smoking policy in place for four years.This would suggest a lack of communication between hotels.com and the hotel.

Our room was large and very dramatic with a lovely claw-footed bath in the room. It was warm and the bed was comfortable. We slept well and were not disturbed by any noise. Our breakfast was delicious and was served in beautiful surroundings. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We had an amazing stay our courtyard room was wonderful. Large comfortable and elegant. The castle itself is wonderful to just walk the halls. My husband and I had a beautiful sunny round of complimentary golf. I am not a golfer and fully enjoyed myself the grounds are gorgeous. Fabulous stat location room and staff all perfect.

Beautiful castle-hotel set in great countryside (and its own golf course). We stayed in the Courtyard rooms, which are set just away from the main building. These are larger than the rooms in the hotel and the distance from the main building certainly helps when there are weddings taking place (I would imagine no one sleeps in the main building until […] the wedding party ends). Our room was large, with a double and single bed, a coffee table and large sofa, a small dining table. The wardrobe was very small and the bathroom only had a shower, not a bath. You can park your car directly outside your room. You can access the main hotel via a door way at one corner of the courtyard, or walk around the outside. Both probably take about the same time. Easier to walk outside to the courtyard, because it is up lots of flights of narrow stairs and corridors if you take the internal route (all downhill from courtyard into hotel). The hotel has lots of places to sit and enjoy yourself, both inside and out and the bar area serves great food. Comfy seats, log fires; what's not to enjoy! Read more

This was booked as a special away stay for my husband's birthday and everything was as expected. The room we were allocated was in the castle and is actually featured in the gallery of photos. The quality of the fixtures and fittings along with the comfort and quality of the bed and bedding was, again, of an excellent standard. The room was really a […] suite, with a lovely seating and dining area and the bathroom was huge with a free-standing roll-top bath as well as an enormous shower.cubicle. There was also a small dressing room where tea and coffee could be prepared. There was plenty of mood lighting and a modern flat screen television. We had an evening meal on the second night and the food was superb. Full of flavour and beautifully presented and served. The chef even wrote Happy Birthday on my husband's dessert plate!! Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We even got to meet Oscar the Irish wolfhound, who is really the 'king of the castle'. The grounds are extensive and the castle is floodlit an night thus adding to the romantic atmosphere. The courtyard area has been developed into superb character rooms and along with a walled garden, some statues and additional balconies and seating, provides additional charm. There are 6 cottages which can be rented as a whole or as individual rooms. This would suit a family reunion event or large family. The ballroom was also set out for a wedding and it looked very impressive. Read more

I don't like over bearing service. Cabra Castle staff were just right, they were there when you needed them, efficient and helpfull. The hotel requires some maintanance but nothing that put us off if fact given it is 200 years old it adds to the character. The food was well presented and freshly prepared. I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and they were very comfortable and relaxing nights. The food was delicious. The staff very friendly and very helpful. The beds were turned down every night and chocolates placed on our pillows we felt very spoiled. The hotel itself has a very old feel to it with beautiful old oil paintings and suits of armor on display. […] On both nights I stayed there were weddings and I have to say we never heard a thing on either night. we had what is called a cottage room which are converted outhouses around a courtyard. I expected to be in main building. There were 2 double beds in it so it would be fine for a family but not for a treat night away as it was very basic. The spa is not part of hotel but at the end of the drive--- hardly very convenient!!!

Leider war unser Zimmer auch nicht direkt in der Burg sondern in den mehreren vorhanden alten umgebauten Pferdegebäuden. Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig. Leider wurde nicht gut gereinigt, Bett hatte noch mehrere alte Blutflecke vom Vorgänger und Aschenbecher […] war noch voll, FErnseher schlechter Empfang, STandard eher 2-3 Sterne im Vergleich zu Deutschland.
