Life is a never-ending summer in LA’s Beach Cities. Redondo Beach and surfing are forever intertwined. On weekends, many Angelinos head to Santa Monica to relax in the ocean and hang out at the Third Street Promenade. The Getty Center, an art-world powerhouse, is nestled in the nearby hills north of Brentwood. Santa Monica’s neighbor, Malibu, is home to The Getty Villa and its antiquities.

This motel was an atrocity. The service was rude and unhelpful, the rooms were dank with stained walls, old old televisions, the wardrobe was falling apart and there was no air conditioning. No AC in Los Angeles is horrible! It is in a poor neighbourhood and the parking is not safe. Would never recommend this hotel. Best to look for a branded place in Santa Monica such as Best Western/Travelodge or the like. Pay the extra bit.

Stained window curtains, dirty floor, no tv, no telephone, rude employees. Makes Motel 6 look like luxury. I would have rather slept in my car than have stayed here for free. STAY AWAY!!!!

The Santa Monica motel delivers exactly what is promised: an economy motel located within the proximity of various Santa Monica attractions. The motel offers no frills and the surrounding area is a little sketchy, but it was inexpensive compared to other local accomodations and conveniently located. This motel is a solid option if you are on a budget and don't plan to spend much time in your room.

This is pretty much what you would expect from a 1-2 star motel. Sheets were clean but some of the other things weren't (mirrors & pictures), no biggy. Nothing that caused any major inconvienences. This is a decent place for singles, couples & families that are concerned about saving money and having a place to stay that's not too far from the action in Santa Monica. Definitely no frills here. My stay was pleasant but I spent most my time outside the hotel. 12 blocks from Santa Monica pier. Bring your own soap & shampoo. TV worked but remote didn't. Stayed in Spring so didn't need heater or A/C. Holes in screens, needs a little paint & caulking but nothing was broken and amenities were VERY basic. On a 1-10 I'd rate this place a 4. The extra point being for location, not the accomodations. I'd stay again because I spent the money I saved on going out instead which was cool but I don't know if I could talk my wife into staying here? Dressed as a business man I appeared to be a bit out of place. I've stayed in plenty of b&b's and hostels which is why I'm probably so forgiving.

out of value="5"Thank you for staying at the Santa Monica Motel, and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Along with being one of the least expensive motels in the downtown Santa Monica area near the beach, our location and amenities (free wireless internet access, free parking, cable tv, etc) add value to travelers on a budget desiring to stay near the ocean.

They didn't have my reservation logged and overbooked the hotel. They sent me to a "sister" property at the beach for the same price...I know it's just a budget hotel, but, the heater didn't work (and it was rainy and very cold), and there were spiders crawling all over the room (and on us).We were in an annex building and the narrow driveway through the hotel, down the alley and into the (also public) parking lot was very hatd to navigate with my large pickup.Only 10 or so chanels on TV and half were Spanish. No phone, and only face towels. Not a plesant stay.

A really cheap motel, that needs renovation. Our room didn't have air-conditioning, which is no fun in the California heat. The overall condition of the motel is also rundown. The motel is within walking distance of Third Street Boardwalk, which is where all the action is. About a ten minute drive from Venice Beach. All in all a very cheap option close to the Santa Monica nightlife, but if you enjoy any form of comfort, then don't choose this motel.
