We were pleasantly surprised by how clean and modern this hotel was for the price. The only negatives were no coffee in the room (but there was morning coffee in the lobby, and a Denny's right across the street), and the fact that (according to front desk personnel) there's a lot of road construction in the area, lots of construction workers stay at that hotel, and parking was difficult with so many trucks in the parking lot.

I stayed at the Motel 6 Auburn over the weekend. The train was less than 1/16th mile away and blew its horn as it passed once at 2am. The room itself was fine, pillows a little flat. The other occupants were very noisy and slammed their doors every time they came and went. Of course not all of them did that but most did. It is great that you can take your pets with you. That's a plus for me. But this time I traveled without my dog. The pool and jacuzzi were nice but pool not heated.

I was looking for a place to stay overnight, not too far away from the ski resorts and this was the cheapest I found. I booked my reservation on the same day that I was arriving, so they had a little trouble locating my reservation but everything went smoothly after that. The rooms didn't have enough towels but they gladly provided us with a few more when we asked for them. We also enjoyed the hot tub. The pool wasn't heated though. The hotel was generally clean all around and all the rooms on the floor were non-smoking. So, it was great overall for the price.

Overall, a good value for the price. The main problem I had was with the bedding. It kind of creeped me out. The pillows were totally yellow stained. The sheets also had some stains on them - I think they were clean, just stained. They use A LOT of bleach on the sheets which I smelled all night long. Bedspreads were a little dorky and dated which would have been fine if they weren't also stained. I ended up putting the pillows inside shirts/sweatshirts to give us an extra layer between the yellow pillow and our faces. The mattress was firm and surprisingly comfortable. Others mentioned the train, but we only heard it once. We stayed mid-week so it was pretty quiet at the hotel, but if there had been more activity, the noise probably would have bothered us a bit...walls were pretty thin. Overall, a decent stay...we just need a place to sleep for the night on our way to skiing in Tahoe.

Hotel staff initially claimed that there is no reservation under my name. Fortunately, I was able to recall hotels.com booking number. After that, I was told that I arrived a day earlier. Since my mobile phone's battery run out, I was unable to present my email confirmation. After asking the clerk numerous times to show me where he sees my booking to be for the 27th instead of for 26th, he said that we will make an expection & change the dates. Also: although my stay had been fully pre-paid, I was forced to provide him with my credit card# - "just in case I cause any damage to their property".

This Motel 6's rooms are in very good condition. Rooms are modern and well layed out, simple efficient, med. size. The service also, has been fine. Seems a safe area with other hotels nearby at higher prices. Some gotcha's - smoky smell in corridors, train runs nearby with whistle blowing in evening....though, I did not notice it once asleep. Occasional heavy laundry smell on sheets. I've stayed a couple of times -- good trade off price vs. some inconveniences.

I picked Motel 6 Auburn because it was the least expensive offering on hotels.com. It is a standard layout with no frills; basically a squat for the night. I thought it was a bit overpriced for what you got, but all the others were probably less of a value. If you stay here, stay for the price. Location is ok and there are fast food places across the street.

The motel appeared to be a nice motel for being a Motel 6. We were able to check in about 2 hours early, which was very nice! The front desk called us to see how we were about an hour into our arrival, which was very nice. They brought an extra blanket to our door for us very promptly. However, the room must have been located below a hallway, for we kept hearing people walk and doors slam shut. At seven thirty in the morning we woke up to what had to have been an electric guitar above us somewhere that lasted about a half an hour. Then, when we went out to get ice about 45 minutes before our checkout time, we were surprised to find that our keys no longer worked. Housekeeping was promptly ready to clean our room before we even checked out as well. When we did check out we told the person at the front desk about our keys, but he didn't seem very concerned at all.

Clean rooms and comfy beds, but just a couple of things to beware of. The shower door was very shaky and seemed like it was going to fall off, it also didn't close completely so some water sprinkled onto the floor. Our top bed comforter seemed to have a cigarette burn right through it, yet we were on a non-smoking floor. Which leads me to the rear entrance to the motel. It reaks of cigarette smoke and was about 100 degree when you walked into the motel. It was cooler outside than it was inside! And we're talking hot Auburn weather.

It was easily as nice as any mid-range HOTEL/MOTEL I've ever stayed in. The front desk personnel was attentive and helpful, as I needed to change my reservation a few times...The bathroom was spotless and very well designed. They must have just remodeled this location as everything seemed to be new. The motel was a three-minute walk to two separate shopping centers with restaurants and coffee shops, gas stations, an AM-PM...and a BASKIN-ROBBINS!!!! The pool and jacuzzi were both clean and well-chlorinated and the ice machine WORKED!!! Great place, great price.

So, I almost always trusted Motel 6 to provide a decent stay for the price you pay. Well, unfortunately this Motel 6 did not do any justice to the company name. Upon arrival the hotel was out of power therefore we could not check in and were sent back out into the 100 degree weather. 2 hours later we were called and able to check in; however, AFTER we checked in at 6pm we were told there was no hot water but it was being worked on immediately. Well, 9:30pm came and still no hot water. We were told the plumber just got there and was working on it. To top it off we reserved one queen bed but since there was no power and we weren't able to check in until 6pm we got what was left...2 twin beds. I spoke with the manager and got the run-around regarding a discount. Needless to say I'm extremely disappointed and have lost my trust in the quality of Motel 6.
