The front desk operates 24 hrs daily and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Great location to all must sees and public transportation 2 blocks away. Breakfast only served til 9:00 am. I will plan to stay Prytania Oaks Hotel again on my next visit to NOLA.

This was a pleasant surprise ...A Gem in the rough. A nice quiet stay away from the maddening crowds of New Orleans night life but a walk away from the trolley car that can take you there. Quaint hotel with some rooms in a converted house (which I where I stayed). Room had great charm and all of the amenities I needed. Location is great, close to good restaurants and bars. Parking is easy (private lot and street). This isn't a chain hotel, and things may be quirky, but it's charming. For the price it's a great value.

The staff was helpful and friendly. The Lobby is located a half block from the actual hotel but it wasn't any problem, just different. Our room was clean and charming. The first day we walked to the French Quarters and back, the next day we used the trolley, both worked.

My favorite part about this hotel was location. Only a block or so away from St. Charles and the nearest street car pick up. Bourbon St, the convention center, and French Quarter are only a cheap cab ride away. We came down for the Rock N Roll half marathon and the start line was only 0.9 miles away. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Prytania Oaks. It was quite convenient to have free parking and easy access to our car. The room, while small, was charming and well appointed; the bathroom lovely and spacious. Wife and I stayed there for a few days while visiting New Orleans for the first time. It was nice to stay there in the Garden District away from all the traffic and crowds found in the French Quarter. There was a small parking lot available next to the building and it filled up fast. We ended up parking one evening in the sister hotel lot a half-block […] away, which by the way is where you actually check-in/out. Room was small but cozy and quiet with modern furniture, TV, WiFi, fridge, and microwave. Continental breakfast was right downstairs and was convenient to grab a quick bite before heading out for the day. There were quite a few very good restaurants within a couple of blocks walking distance which is where we ended up eating all our dinners. We chose to drive our car into the French Quarter and park in a public lot. It took about 10 minutes from the hotel and there is plenty of parking available. We would definitely stay there again. My best friend and I stayed here during a road trip in November 2012, and we had a marvelous time. The hotel has great older architecture that definitely reflects the New Orleans style, but had been completely redone. It was perfectly clean, and was located directly on a trolley line that takes you right into all of the action of the French Quarter […] and Bourbon Street. The hotel staff was nice enough (but this is in comparison to everyone else in NOLA who are super friendly), and they helped with anything that we needed. The breakfast was relatively lack luster, but there are two inexpensive and delicious breakfast places within close walking distance. Our only complaint is that the front desk is across the street in the other hotel, so if you need something at night you should plan ahead. Overall, it was so great that I am making plans to stay here every time I come to NOLA. Read more

Very convenient location in a restored home on Prytania, just on the edge of the good part of that area. Pros: Clean, good-size room with TV and large bathroom, furnished decently though not opulently. Safe and fridge in room. Quiet. FREE PARKING!!!! That is the biggest draw as you can pay as much as $40 a night for parking at area hotels. Did not […] try the continental breakfast but it was available. Cons: Some issues with setting up the card keys, and had to return the following evening to get them re-set, as they ceased working. But they fixed it fast. The only other con is that there is no full-length mirror in the room. There are mirrors in the bathroom, but should be a dressing mirror in the bedroom. Overall, good value and great location. The Prytania Oaks, a converted residential property with high ceilings located in the lower Garden District, is an upscale property compared to the nearby Prytania Park Hotel. Both are very comfortable, clean, quiet and affordable, and very "New Orleans." Services are limited, but each room has a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and WiFi […] Internet access. The free continental breakfast is just adequate and is served in the court yard at the Prytania Park (a half block away). The neighborhood is great, with many places to walk and eat, and the St. Charles Avenue street car is one block away for going downtown toward the French Quarter (one mile) or uptown to universities. Parking is free and access to all parts of New Orleans is easy via the Interstate or local roads. I continue to return to these hotels on numerous business trips. Read more

Loved the hotel. The room was very comfortable, modern yet historical. Only issue was that the property was not managed from that location. Had to walk a block or so to check in, get the free breakfast,etc. Also no one on location to help with towels or other needs. Follow up is lacking by the staff. Had placed the card in the door for Room to be cleaned […] - gone all day and came back to a dirty room - no one came back to check on the rooms after the first cleaning person left. Called the front desk, which is not on location, and there was no one available to delivery clean towels or anything else. Front desk attitude was 'So What' even when we identified ourselves as Trip Advior clients. The hotel owner Did call and follow up, but we were in the business conference and could not take her call. We are glad she made the attempt, but there was still no follow up later that evening. We were there for 4 nites - and this happend on the day of the stay. There was plenty of opportunity to contact us or make it right. To bad the staff failed to follow up on the rooms, or leave instructions to call the desk if you needed your room made up later than 9am. Spent the night in NO before embarking on a cruise. This hotel felt more like a B&B than a hotel. No cookie-cutter room here. What other hotel has a fireplace (non-working, of course), 12 f t ceilings, 4-poster bed, hardwood floors, located on a beautiful bowered street? There are two hotels Prytania Park, Prytania Oaks. There is only one office. That was a little confusing upon check in. The continental breakfast was at one place or the other so if you wanted breakfast you would have to go to the location in which it was being served.

The hotel was exactly as advertised - no surprises. A mile from the French quarter, so very quiet yet close enough. Only 1.25 miles from the AmTrak station & the Superdome too. I would definitely stay again, especially at the price. Neighborhood was a little sketchy, but we found it safe.

The service at this hotel was very good. We had an issue getting into the room because of the room key, and the staff was very quick to resolve the issue with as little disturbance to our trip as possible. The location is good, it's about 1-2 miles from activity downtown or in the French Quarter. You can easily take a bus there if the walk is too long. […] The hotel had a lot of character, it was an older building, but you could tell they took measures to keep it up to date and looking good. Our room, no 164, was small but lovely with a good sized bathroom. The air con in the room was quiet and efficient and the ceiling fan was a nice touch. There was a good quality flat screen tv, and a fridge and microwave. Very well decorated with good quality furniture and good quality mattress. The WiFi didn't work at all in the room, which was a […] big problem for us as we were road tripping and booked hotels only with WiFi in the rooms so we could plan the next stages of our trip, book hotels etc. We had to sit outside in the heat to use it and even then it constantly dropped out. Very frustrating. I asked if we could change rooms but the (very unhelpful and unfriendly) woman on reception told us it must be the fault of all three of our devices and wasn't interested. So we sat outside for hours and got hot and bothered and bitten by bugs instead. Also what I think was the the air con unit was directly outside the bedroom window, which was extremely noisy and kept us awake. That is, when we weren't kept awake having to keep retrieving our pillows from the huge gap between the headboard and mattress. The hotel is on a residential street, we felt very safe at all times, especially with the lovely security guys who are there 24 hours. The French quarter was about a 45 minute walk and at night we didn't always feel safe walking back through some of the areas so after the first time we took the car. The room was clean and adequate. The bed was very comfy. The room was uncomfortably humid and the linens were moist. The remote didn't work properly and the location was on the edge of iffy. Although there was a security guard who was very nice. At check-in, the woman was sullen.

The hotel has two parts. One down and across the street from where we were actually staying. That was a tad bit confusing at check in time as we parked, went down the street to check in and then had to walk back down to our hotel. The room was charming with a comfortable 4 poster bed, flat screen TV and a stand up shower. Our room was up 3 small sets […] of stairs, so if you have trouble carrying luggage or do not like stairs, you should ask for a lower level. We had to enter through a gated area and our key worked for that. There was off-street parking which is a plus in New Orleans. We were close to St. Charles Street, Magazine Street , the Super Dome and the city. I would stay here again as my daughter goes to Tulane and it is a pretty central location to anywhere you'd like to visit in New Orleans. Read more

This is a beautiful hotel,neat & clean rooms, FREE parking (yes FREE!). The breakfast was not much to speak of, & I didn't know there was no elevator, 2nd floor rooms, stairs difficult for arthritic or handicapped. This hotel was just slightly above our set price range (we were really trying to keep it as cheap as humanly possible), but we quickly realized that it was money well spent. Instead of spending our vacation in New Orleans at a bad motel in the dangerous outskirts of the city, we stayed in the beautiful, luxurious Prytania Oaks hotel in the Garden District, […] only one block from the St Charles line.
