"Great Time at Prytania"
My best friend and I stayed here during a road trip in November 2012, and we had a marvelous time. The hotel has great older architecture that definitely reflects the New Orleans style, but had been completely redone. It was perfectly clean, and was located directly on a trolley line that takes you right into all of the action of the French Quarter […] and Bourbon Street. The hotel staff was nice enough (but this is in comparison to everyone else in NOLA who are super friendly), and they helped with anything that we needed. The breakfast was relatively lack luster, but there are two inexpensive and delicious breakfast places within close walking distance. Our only complaint is that the front desk is across the street in the other hotel, so if you need something at night you should plan ahead. Overall, it was so great that I am making plans to stay here every time I come to NOLA. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent room close to everything with FREE PARKING!"
Very convenient location in a restored home on Prytania, just on the edge of the good part of that area. Pros: Clean, good-size room with TV and large bathroom, furnished decently though not opulently. Safe and fridge in room. Quiet. FREE PARKING!!!! That is the biggest draw as you can pay as much as $40 a night for parking at area hotels. Did not […] try the continental breakfast but it was available. Cons: Some issues with setting up the card keys, and had to return the following evening to get them re-set, as they ceased working. But they fixed it fast. The only other con is that there is no full-length mirror in the room. There are mirrors in the bathroom, but should be a dressing mirror in the bedroom. Overall, good value and great location. "Charming and affordable in NOLA Garden District"
Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was good. Nice courtyard for relaxing in the evening. Layout of hotel is a little challenging because check-in and all guest service functions are down the street at Prytania Park. Hotel location is great. Very close to St Charles street and public transportation. All in all, a very nice, affordable […] option in the New Orleans Garden District. I would definitely recommend and would certainly return! "A great little New Orleans hotel"
This was our second stay at the Prytania Oaks, a nice quiet place in an old New Orleans building, on an oak-shaded street, well kept and close to the Garden District and Uptown, and the French Quarter is also just minutes away. Very much like a small European b&b hotel. It has everything that reminds me of my growing up in New Orleans! This will continue […] to be our place to stay when we visit. "New Orleans, clean, quiet, affordable, convenient"
The Prytania Oaks, a converted residential property with high ceilings located in the lower Garden District, is an upscale property compared to the nearby Prytania Park Hotel. Both are very comfortable, clean, quiet and affordable, and very "New Orleans." Services are limited, but each room has a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and WiFi […] Internet access. The free continental breakfast is just adequate and is served in the court yard at the Prytania Park (a half block away). The neighborhood is great, with many places to walk and eat, and the St. Charles Avenue street car is one block away for going downtown toward the French Quarter (one mile) or uptown to universities. Parking is free and access to all parts of New Orleans is easy via the Interstate or local roads. I continue to return to these hotels on numerous business trips. "Romantic lodgings - street car to Fr. Qtr."
Loved the hotel. The room was very comfortable, modern yet historical. Only issue was that the property was not managed from that location. Had to walk a block or so to check in, get the free breakfast, etc. Also no one on location to help with towels or other needs. Follow up is lacking by the staff. Had placed the card in the door for Room to be cleaned […] - gone all day and came back to a dirty room - no one came back to check on the rooms after the first cleaning person left. Called the front desk, which is not on location, and there was no one available to delivery clean towels or anything else. Front desk attitude was 'So What' even when we identified ourselves as Trip Advior clients. The hotel owner Did call and follow up, but we were in the business conference and could not take her call. We are glad she made the attempt, but there was still no follow up later that evening. We were there for 4 nites - and this happend on the day of the stay. There was plenty of opportunity to contact us or make it right. To bad the staff failed to follow up on the rooms, or leave instructions to call the desk if you needed your room made up later than 9am. Better communication would have made this stay a perfect experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not you ordinary hotel room"
Spent the night in NO before embarking on a cruise. This hotel felt more like a B&B than a hotel. No cookie-cutter room here. What other hotel has a fireplace (non-working, of course), 12 f t ceilings, 4-poster bed, hardwood floors, located on a beautiful bowered street? Very quaint and feeling more like a guest bedroom at a friends home than a hotel. […] Close to trolley line and some of the most beautiful homes in NO are just a block away on St Charles Ave. Would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place to stay. Close to the business district and the French quarter. It was fun exploring the garden district..lots to see and the restaurants were good. We would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I would stay here again."
There are two hotels Prytania Park, Prytania Oaks. There is only one office. That was a little confusing upon check in. The continental breakfast was at one place or the other so if you wanted breakfast you would have to go to the location in which it was being served.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was exactly as advertised - no surprises. A mile from the French quarter, so very quiet yet close enough. Only 1.25 miles from the AmTrak station & the Superdome too. I would definitely stay again, especially at the price. Neighborhood was a little sketchy, but we found it safe.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel in the Garden District"
The service at this hotel was very good. We had an issue getting into the room because of the room key, and the staff was very quick to resolve the issue with as little disturbance to our trip as possible. The location is good, it's about 1-2 miles from activity downtown or in the French Quarter. You can easily take a bus there if the walk is too long. […] The hotel had a lot of character, it was an older building, but you could tell they took measures to keep it up to date and looking good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel, shame about the WiFi!"
Our room, no 164, was small but lovely with a good sized bathroom. The air con in the room was quiet and efficient and the ceiling fan was a nice touch. There was a good quality flat screen tv, and a fridge and microwave. Very well decorated with good quality furniture and good quality mattress. The WiFi didn't work at all in the room, which was a […] big problem for us as we were road tripping and booked hotels only with WiFi in the rooms so we could plan the next stages of our trip, book hotels etc. We had to sit outside in the heat to use it and even then it constantly dropped out. Very frustrating. I asked if we could change rooms but the (very unhelpful and unfriendly) woman on reception told us it must be the fault of all three of our devices and wasn't interested. So we sat outside for hours and got hot and bothered and bitten by bugs instead. Also what I think was the the air con unit was directly outside the bedroom window, which was extremely noisy and kept us awake. That is, when we weren't kept awake having to keep retrieving our pillows from the huge gap between the headboard and mattress. The hotel is on a residential street, we felt very safe at all times, especially with the lovely security guys who are there 24 hours. The French quarter was about a 45 minute walk and at night we didn't always feel safe walking back through some of the areas so after the first time we took the car. Parking's expensive but it was easy to find. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok for the price"
The room was clean and adequate. The bed was very comfy. The room was uncomfortably humid and the linens were moist. The remote didn't work properly and the location was on the edge of iffy. Although there was a security guard who was very nice. At check-in, the woman was sullen.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel has two parts. One down and across the street from where we were actually staying. That was a tad bit confusing at check in time as we parked, went down the street to check in and then had to walk back down to our hotel. The room was charming with a comfortable 4 poster bed, flat screen TV and a stand up shower. Our room was up 3 small sets […] of stairs, so if you have trouble carrying luggage or do not like stairs, you should ask for a lower level. We had to enter through a gated area and our key worked for that. There was off-street parking which is a plus in New Orleans. We were close to St. Charles Street, Magazine Street , the Super Dome and the city. I would stay here again as my daughter goes to Tulane and it is a pretty central location to anywhere you'd like to visit in New Orleans. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Historic location among the Mansions"
They upgraded us to the Queen Anne which was a historic mansion that was redone with AC and beautiful bathroom. Nice high ceilings and historic mantel. Beautiful architecture. Room had a small table, fridge/microwave, plates, and chairs and a big four poster bed. Loved it. Being old, the floors creaked which you could hear throughout the night. This is a beautiful hotel, neat & clean rooms, FREE parking (yes FREE!). The breakfast was not much to speak of, & I didn't know there was no elevator, 2nd floor rooms, stairs difficult for arthritic or handicapped. Would definitely stay here again, and request a first floor room. Convenient on the trolley line, staff very friendly and helpful !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"New Orleans charm, great neighborhood"
This hotel was just slightly above our set price range (we were really trying to keep it as cheap as humanly possible), but we quickly realized that it was money well spent. Instead of spending our vacation in New Orleans at a bad motel in the dangerous outskirts of the city, we stayed in the beautiful, luxurious Prytania Oaks hotel in the Garden District, […] only one block from the St Charles line. Over an active couple of days, we were able to get around easily (both via public transportation and just walking), and we were able to return to our beautiful room and ridiculously comfortable bed. We had great experiences with the front desk, cleaning and security staffs. We will absolutely be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent hotel for the price"
This is a sweet little deal in a perfect location. I wouldn't say the room was small, as many reviewers have commented, but it is a little cramped. "Good hotel/Reasonable price-Neighborhood location"
This hotel is good for the cost - doesn't have room service or minibar. TV didn't really work and you can't order movies. But it was clean, comfortable, and worked for our trip. The only thing I didn't love was the location. It is a far walk from the French Quarter, more in a neighborhood. Better to stay here if you have a car.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Did not want to leave!"
The hotel was great!!! The only thing I can find to complain about was that the hotel was split into three different buildings and you had to check in at one and then walk to another (if you were staying in one of the other two). However, the walk to and from was not bad at all. I would caution that the hotel was set for couples and was more of a bed […] and breakfast set up more than anything. Definitely not a party place. The location was also another plus. It was away from the craziness of the French Quarter but still had some good restaurants on the next block (St. Charles). You could take the Trolly (also on St. Charles) for a couple of minutes and get off on Canal St. or Bourbon. I give this hotel an A++ Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A Great Find"
The Prytania Oaks is a 'satellite' guest house of the Prytania Park Hotel. To register, go to the Prytania Park (about 100 yard walk.) As in most of New Orleans, signage is discreet. It wasn't until I got out of my car at 10 at night to try to figure out how to get into the "Oaks" to register, that I saw a little sign directing me to the Prytania Park. […] A minor inconvenience, considering the "Oaks" was the cleanest room and most comfortable bed I've had in New Orleans--and I've traveled there on business a lot. The Oaks is an old style New Orleans boarding room. Nice walk out balcony, tall ceilings, four poster bed, etc. Nice breakfast area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice, but a bit quirky"
We enjoyed our stay at Prytannia Oaks and agree we'd stay there again if we go back to New Orleans. But there are a few things we found a bit quirky. The hotel is in the middle of a mixed residential/commercial area one block off St Charles. When you arrive, there is nothing to indicate you've arrived at Prytannia Oaks, except the address and a paper […] sign on the gate telling you registration is a block and a half away to the Prytannia Park. Not a huge inconvenience, but a bit unusual. I thought for a value priced hotel, the room was nicely renovated and nicely appointed and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious, clean with a good shower. The room had the high ceilings of the 19th century and a queen sized poster bed and nicely redone wooden floors. Both rooms had a non-functional but decorative fireplace in them. However as much as we enjoyed the decor of the room and found it to be very quiet, it was the smallest queen room I'd ever stayed in, very difficult for the two of us to manuever in. Parking is also a bit tight with the parking lot only having room for 8-10 cars while hotel has sixteen rooms. We were able to obtain a lot space overnight both nights we were there but did have to park on the street when returned one night before dinner. The Sunday breakfast was set up at Prytannia Oaks and looked to have a decent variety, including waffles made for you by a staff member. But Monday's breakfast was set up in the courtyard of Prytannia Park and seemed to lack the variety of the Sunday breakfast. There was no toaster on the breakfast table and no coffee lids and no sign to indicate they were located in the corner of the office. You were left to discover that on your own. The staff was friendly and very helpful and the location was very convenient. There is a pretty good variety of restaurants within walking distance on St Charles (although the best one was Dijon five blocks away on Annunciation). Overall, we found the positives outweighed the ne Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The prytania Oaks Hotel meet our expectations. While the queen room was smaller then expected, you are not in your room much while in New Orleans. Great access to the st. Charles sreet car. Not a hotel in the normal sense, more like having your own room in a neighborhood. Loud leaf blowers and and horrible fumes not a very good welcome . Room reasonable value but small for two with nowhere to sit except bed. Very close to streetcar, easy to walk downtown and lots of eateries nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
