From the reviews and photos, it seemed like this converted RR car B&B was unique and well kept. However, it was run down. Although close to the lake, there were no activities. There are no good restaurants nearby. Breakfast was very good and the owner was friendly, but not very helpful when we used the grill and when we asked about things to do. This […] is a good place to relax and do absolutely nothing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"What a fun idea!"
We had a great time. The owner/proprietor was super nice. The scenery is great, being right on the lake. The train cars evoke a sense of history and are more than just another room in a hotel or B&B. We had to leave pretty early in the morning to catch a flight, and the owner got up up early to make us breakfast before we left!Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved the grounds especially. Cabooses are so cool. Friday evening wine tasting with Tony and his lovely wife. Good breakfast included. We lived it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Our hosts, Tony and Patty were very accommodating to make our stay both comfortable and enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved walking along the lake, which is right across the street. The setting is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Get away!"
We had a little get away weekend, just my husband and I. We loved the Train Setting. Everything about that place is about trains! The grounds were so pretty and lush and kept up nice. Our train car was clean and cozy. I wish we had a few more days to spend there to be able to use the pool, and fire pit at night, relax in the hammack or take a ride on […] their tandem bikes! There was a lot offered to do. The breakfast was SUPER great and served so beautifully. The owners were friendly and accomodating. We would definetly like to go back and highly recommend this place to others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

A unqiue experience. TropiCaboose was comfortable and QUIET. The Clear Lake area is beautiful. Innkeepers Tony & Peggy are friendly and helpful. Stayed two nights and had two delicious and filling breakfasts. At our request, Tony provided some winery recommendatoins and directions and we had a marvelous day. So glad we came to Lake County and missed the Napa eathquake. :) FRB&B has free wifi but remember cabooses are steel so we enjoyed time on the porch of the main house to check email.
"Great Railroad Themed B&B"

We spent 3 nights at this B&B in the Orient Express Caboose for my husbands birthday. It was really nice....we loved it. It was actually a surprise for my husband who is a big train buff, so it was a big hit! We drove in from Sacramento airport and didn't have any trouble finding it. Checking in was easy, and Tony was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions of things to do in the surrounding area during our stay. We loved the room....It was very cozy and romantic feeling, with a comfy bed and large jacuzzi type tub. It also had a small deck with chairs outside in front of the caboose which we enjoyed sitting on and relaxing with a great view of the lake. And my husband really liked the seats in the cupola up top. It was fun to sit and enjoy our drinks up there while taking in the scenery. The grounds of the property are lovely and very peaceful, and its great to be right across the street from the lake. Beautiful views. And at night we enjoyed some amazing star gazing. The first morning there we had to leave early since we had an all day excursion planned. Tony very graciously offered to make us a "to go" breakfast. Which we really appreciated, since it was earlier than the normal breakfast service times. All the breakfasts we had there were wonderful. Yummy home cooked food. Tony and Peggy are wonderful hosts and we enjoyed hearing all the stories about the history of the B&B and getting info on some of the local attractions and wineries, etc. We loved every minute of our stay and definitely recommend it!
"A great place to stay that is original and off beat"

We travelled to the States for the first time this summer and wanted somewhere that evoked the West. We stayed in a caboose with a wild west theme. How much more American can you get. The steel bedroom was clean and well appointed with an antique bath that was fun and practical with lashings of hot water. Hosts Tony and Peggy were delightful and very welcoming even accompanying us to a local bar for drinks. Highly recommended.

A great place with a difference... Beautiful cabooses done up in different themes. Large Spa bath in rooms. Pool. Best ever breakfast! Staff are excellent . Must be seen , I've travelled a lot but this place has such a great originality. Perfect getaway for couples.
"Fun and adventurous place to stay - plus a great breakfast"

My husband and I spent a night in the Wild Wild West Caboose for our anniversary. It was really fun and we had a great time! Our flight was delayed getting in to Oakland, so we didn't have much time to see the lake or the surrounding area, so I'll focus only on the B&B itself. Finding the place, and checking in were a breeze. We had dedicated parking right next to our caboose, and the room itself is spacious and comfortable. The bed was really comfy! We had a claw foot tub in the bathroom, but we didn't use it. We did have drinks up in the cupola as we watched the light disappear over the lake. You can see the lake from almost any spot on the grounds. The lovely oak trees made it seem really secluded and magical. We slept great since there is air conditioning (heater too if you need it), and the really comfy bed. In the morning we looked out over the lake from our cupola nest, and explored the grounds. We then had breakfast in the main property area with the owner. The breakfast was delicious!! We both ate every last bite. We had scones, quiche, and sausage, with juice and coffee. It was so yummy and the company was fabulous. It was great to hear about the history of the B&B from the owner. (By the way, Tony had called a few weeks before just to ask if we had an allergies or food items that we didn't enjoy - talk about the personal touch!) Everything was really great and I wish we had more time to explore and stay in a new themed room. The place had so many birds and we saw deer in the front on our evening walk. It was really magical. Thank you Tony and Peggy!

Everything about the place is amazing. Cute rooms, friendly staff, great location. I've stayed in 5 rooms, a couple more than once and I love them all. Great for that lovers getaway or to find that spark again. Love you guys! J.McClellan
"Very cute but not so clean."

The outside is amazing. Really cute with all the cabooses lined up, lots of trees and a view of the lake. Tony and Peggy who run the place are very nice and helpful but need some direction in the cleaning department. Our room was very tired looking and not too clean. There is a two person jetted tub but not enough hot water to fill it. Even following the B & B instructions we couldn't get the water warm enough to enjoy it. Others staying there had a different hot water system and didn't have the same problem. Enjoying the lake and all the different birds made it worth the stay. It is very centrally located to lots of really nice wineries, Tony was spot on in guiding us to some great ones. The dock was a perfect place to watch the sunrise and some pretty interesting birds.
"Great Weekend Getaway !!!!!"

We had one of the best weekend getaways!!! We stayed in the Easy Rider Caboose. We loved it from the moment we opened the door. The featherbed was great and the sheets were so soft. I slept like a baby. The big tub was great too. The easy chair was great for relaxing. I loved that we could climb up to the top and see the lake . They had Friday night wine & beer tasting. Tony and Peggy the owners made our stay there great. Very helpful with info to where to eat, enjoy a drink and even wine tasting tours. We even watched the sunset from their boat dock area. You can see the big fish in the water. Next time we come back. I'm bring my fishing pole. The breakfast in the morning is so yummy. The owners are great cooks and nice people. We felt very relaxed and enjoyed everybody's company at breakfast. Thanks Featherbed Railroad bed & breakfast for a great relaxing weekend ♥

We stayed in Celebrations, which is suppose to be the haunted caboose,( my husband's idea). Lucky for me I didn't see any ghost, but the radio did turn on by itself when I was in the room alone praying. Other then that one event I had a wonderful time. Tony had some wonderful suggestions of things to do and places to eat. He even let us borrow a picnic basket so that we could have a picnic while out on the boat he suggested we rent. It was a very relaxing and beautiful 2 day getaway.
"a must see"

This was a late Valentines day celebration for my husband and I. My husband loves trains and motorcycles so it doesn't get much better then to stay in a Harley Davidson themed caboose. The caboose was AMAZING, very clean, comfy with a full size Jacuzzi for 2. Situated across the street from clear lake in the trees was another bonus. Great breakfast, Tony and his wife are well known and liked by the locals, great hosts! We toured the lake, wine& olive oil tasting (locally for free in Kelseyville), ate and had the best time. Will definitely be coming back. We got a deal buy one night get one free from living social
