"Unique place to stay..."
I have a feeling that the customer service would have been excellent had the innkeeper been in town. As it stands, his staff was not quite as available or conscientious as he would've been. Still, overall, very interesting place to stay. Would recommend staying in the spring summer or fall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Here's looking at you Kid....,"
Loved the quietness. Room heater was a little noisy in the "Casa Blanca"; however I did notice others with heaters below the units. Good idea. As a retired railroader that built bridges, I loved the experience. Looking forward to another stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
From the reviews and photos, it seemed like this converted RR car B&B was unique and well kept. However, it was run down. Although close to the lake, there were no activities. There are no good restaurants nearby. Breakfast was very good and the owner was friendly, but not very helpful when we used the grill and when we asked about things to do. This […] is a good place to relax and do absolutely nothing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"What a fun idea!"
We had a great time. The owner/proprietor was super nice. The scenery is great, being right on the lake. The train cars evoke a sense of history and are more than just another room in a hotel or B&B. We had to leave pretty early in the morning to catch a flight, and the owner got up up early to make us breakfast before we left!Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved the grounds especially. Cabooses are so cool. Friday evening wine tasting with Tony and his lovely wife. Good breakfast included. We lived it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great place to visit!"
Our hosts, Tony and Patty were very accommodating to make our stay both comfortable and enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved walking along the lake, which is right across the street. The setting is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Get away!"
We had a little get away weekend, just my husband and I. We loved the Train Setting. Everything about that place is about trains! The grounds were so pretty and lush and kept up nice. Our train car was clean and cozy. I wish we had a few more days to spend there to be able to use the pool, and fire pit at night, relax in the hammack or take a ride on […] their tandem bikes! There was a lot offered to do. The breakfast was SUPER great and served so beautifully. The owners were friendly and accomodating. We would definetly like to go back and highly recommend this place to others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Your room is a caboose"
A great place to stay, right on the lake. Lots of bird life in te grounds and on the lake. We had a great view of otters from the pier. Breakfast is individually cooked for you - no choice but bothe breakfasts were very tasty. The rooms are all old cabooses, very comfortable and nicely decorated. There is a bar/ restaurant 5 mins walk away. Wi if is […] good as well. We loved it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Romantic getaway at the La loose caboose "

Had an amazing time staying in the La loose caboose in nice, friendly staff beautiful grounds right on clear lake. Super cool concept awsome hosts great breakfast the next day. We will definitely be back! Tips- the boat house bar and grill is about 300 ft from the bnb and has awsome tri-tip sliders and one of the biggest and best chicken fried steak I've ever had. Show them you featherbed keys and it's 10% off your bill. WiFi on phone works inside caboose but not on labtops so if you bring a mini sd to hdmi adapter you can stream hulu or Netflix. Enjoy!

My wife and I have stayed many times at the Featherbed RR. We have always found staff to be pleasant and helpful. The food has always been incredible as it was this time. On rare occasion I have wandered out to get breakfast elsewhere (slept in past breakfast) and there is no better breakfast to be found in town or the surrounding area. On the rate occasions something was not quite right I've found Tony to be very prudent in taking care of any issue we've had. The privacy of having a complete caboose as a room with spacing between the other cabooses is priceless. No sharing the bathrooms with other guests, No listening to people yelling at each other while having a romantic time with your spouse. And a park like setting. . . When you give thought to the quality of the food, the privacy of the rooms, and the setting, the value of the stay increases significantly. I don't suggest bringing the kids, this is a perfect getaway place for couples. . .
My husband and I returned to the FBRR on our 20th anniversary. It has changed in the past 20 years! The have a greater selection of cars! We stayed in the Orient, and enjoyed it immensely. Very relaxing! We had a great dinner in Upper Lake and a delicious breakfast the following morning. The hosts were very nice and friendly. We will definitely be back for some wine tasting!
"something very different and quaint..."

this is definitely a place for romance. on a local tour, we decided to stay here, him and I, with a bottle of champagne and lovely fruits and cheese. we had a fridge and a microwave, jacuzzi, the grounds were pretty, and we had a view of the lake. that's not the best part. the railroad cars are sooo cool! everyone is themed, and they are just fascinating. the fact that we had our very own "space", no one walking past our door, no one bowling above us, was peaceful and comforting. yes, there was some "outdated" features, but it was easy to look past. the owners, who were friendly as heck, held a "social", where we drank complimentary wine and met other folks, then we disappeared to our bungalow for the night. the breakfast was delicious. we loved the stay! it was a tad pricey, but I have stayed in FAR less satisfying places for more money!!! I say YES to another stay, on another day...

A clever idea, but not for $200 a night. We arrived before 3 pm and the office was closed. We found our railroad car a little outdated. The sink in the bathroom drained so slowly, you had to wait nearly 5 minutes for it to drain. No television reception or Wifi. Breakfast was disappointing, some sort of very sweet French toast and a sausage. We left hungry. I would not recommend this as a bed and breakfast. We had had an outstanding and elegant B&B in Guerneville for the same price the previous 2 nights with delightful hosts and great breakfasts. This was overpriced for average accommodations.
"Really unique experience"

This place was really unique... like different than anything I've ever experienced before. Every car has a different theme and we stayed in one that was Halloween themed. The jacuzzi is an awesome touch and each room comes with one. The lot is close to a beautiful lake and they have a dock for guests. The owners were extremely nice and hospitable. The breakfast was delicious. It was an incredible fall getaway. Stayed one night. Would go back again. Only downside: the rooms could be cleaner.
"Nice place in Nice"

We stopped here on our way to the redwoods. Nothing cooler then a yard full of cabooses. We stayed in the Celebrations caboose, the bed was great and the hot tub fun. The breakfast the next morning was fantastic. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

A unqiue experience. TropiCaboose was comfortable and QUIET. The Clear Lake area is beautiful. Innkeepers Tony & Peggy are friendly and helpful. Stayed two nights and had two delicious and filling breakfasts. At our request, Tony provided some winery recommendatoins and directions and we had a marvelous day. So glad we came to Lake County and missed the Napa eathquake. :) FRB&B has free wifi but remember cabooses are steel so we enjoyed time on the porch of the main house to check email.
"Great Railroad Themed B&B"

We spent 3 nights at this B&B in the Orient Express Caboose for my husbands birthday. It was really nice....we loved it. It was actually a surprise for my husband who is a big train buff, so it was a big hit! We drove in from Sacramento airport and didn't have any trouble finding it. Checking in was easy, and Tony was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions of things to do in the surrounding area during our stay. We loved the room....It was very cozy and romantic feeling, with a comfy bed and large jacuzzi type tub. It also had a small deck with chairs outside in front of the caboose which we enjoyed sitting on and relaxing with a great view of the lake. And my husband really liked the seats in the cupola up top. It was fun to sit and enjoy our drinks up there while taking in the scenery. The grounds of the property are lovely and very peaceful, and its great to be right across the street from the lake. Beautiful views. And at night we enjoyed some amazing star gazing. The first morning there we had to leave early since we had an all day excursion planned. Tony very graciously offered to make us a "to go" breakfast. Which we really appreciated, since it was earlier than the normal breakfast service times. All the breakfasts we had there were wonderful. Yummy home cooked food. Tony and Peggy are wonderful hosts and we enjoyed hearing all the stories about the history of the B&B and getting info on some of the local attractions and wineries, etc. We loved every minute of our stay and definitely recommend it!
"A great place to stay that is original and off beat"
08/15/14 keith h Northamptonshire, United Kingdom
We travelled to the States for the first time this summer and wanted somewhere that evoked the West. We stayed in a caboose with a wild west theme. How much more American can you get. The steel bedroom was clean and well appointed with an antique bath that was fun and practical with lashings of hot water. Hosts Tony and Peggy were delightful and very welcoming even accompanying us to a local bar for drinks. Highly recommended.
