"hotel don juan!!"

"Gran Hotel Don Juan"
Just back from a week at Gran Hotel Don Juan with my daughter. We did not have a good first impression as it was around 1am when we arrived and the night porter bless him was having a big row with a young girl trying to sneak in. It was swarming with young people but this was the worst it got so perhaps we were just unlucky. We made our way up to the room and it was so small and just next to fire escape so felt a bit vulnerable. The balcony looked on to another block. Went straight downstairs and was told stay in it tonight and see the Manager tomorrow. We did not unpack: next morning went to see the Manager and he immediately sorted another room for us to look at. Got the impression that if that did not suit we could have asked to see another one. He spoke fluent English (as did all reception staff I met) and was very helpful. Went in to breakfast and it was fine - the service and staff when feeding 500 -plus people was what I would have expected. I had just come back from Ocas Pelicanos Benidorm (early July)and the meals did not compare to there but we had paid double the price there! Of course as this was low cost there were loads of young folks there - Dutch, German, Spanish and Italian - but its August!! I was amazed when booking that we could get anywhere remotely decent at a relatively low cost in August. All meals had multi-choice menu and if people cannot find something they like from the 6 or 7 fish/meat choices (including cooked to order) with salad and veg options every night...words fail me. We used the hotel as a base to visit the beach, bars and sights and did not use the pool or the bar so I cannot comment. The room was absolutely fine, cleaned every day and the bathroom was big and modern. A/C on demand and free.Clean towels every day when needed. We had no disturbance from guests or people outside - bearing in mind that it is a stone throw from the main nightlife. I stayed here at Don Juan around 20 odd years ago and it has changed but what hasn't? The resort has changed as well - very few English but after reading the negative reviews and hearing some on the resorthoppa bus back to the airport- prob for the best! Come on, you get what you pay for (same as Ryanair!) so get your hand deeper in your pocket for a 5 star holiday choice.
"fair for the price u pay"

i was in don juan in aug ('14), and for what we paid it was a rly nice hotel for young ppl. it's perfect for a party holiday, maybe not for a relax or family vacation. it as 5 pools and plenty of room, room service is good, and it's really close to the seaside.
"Nice Hotel near to the discos"

The room was clean, unfortunately our view from the balcony was bad. Bathroom was also clean. The room wasn't perfect but for a party holiday good. People in the reception not very nice... Food was ok. The hotel is big, u can find there anything u need. In the lobby u can buy cigarettes at a machine at any time. The hotel is nearby the discos. 3-5min to Tropics. 1-2 min to Revolution and Alcatraz. To the beach it's something like 10min depends how fast u r walking. A lot of shops nearby. Wifi is not free. Not sure but i think one day was 5€ 3 days 10€ and a week 20€. It's working in the whole hotel. Don't buy all inclusive. It's useless, u will for sure drink at bars or just buy sth im the market. It's a good hotel for young people but also not bad for old people with families, there 2 swimming pools outside. In the evening has been sth kinda animations. Alcohol in the hotel is not good... Only wine is not bad. Nice staff at the bars. It's a really good hotel for the price and what's also good there are no problems if friends from other hotels are visiting u or u enter the hotel with lot's of alcohol from the market even if u r not 18. I had a nice holiday there :)
"Very good hotel!!!"

I was at Don Juan in september 2013. in that time with my girlfriend now my wife :) Hotel has a solid location, around 350 metres distance to the beach!Food is excellent, big choice of meat and vegetables, fruit and sweets.Hotel is primary for younger people.Rooms are smaller but clean with big balcony and view to the pool.We were on the 3rd floor.
"Only 1 star because you can't give 0 but...."

I'll try and be balanced having just got back from 7 nights of sleep deprivation masquerading as a holiday with my little boy. Hotel is good despite previous reviews re staff (Valentin and the guys on the desk are smily and helpful even when faced with yet another coach vomiting out more drunken eurotrash, the pool guy does a great job getting chairs, broken glass and rubbish out of each of the 3 pools every day and the (daily) room cleaners are terrific (and deserve danger money for what they have to tackle!). It can't help being noisy due to where it is and the tiled floors, thin walls and busy roads on the way from the strip to everywhere else don't help. Nor do maintenance guys moving bins in the early hours. Without the random brain donors shrieking at 3am it would be a nice spot. Entertainment as has been said is a little on the Benidorm side, and avoid the reptile 'show' unless you want a €20 photo with a bored-looking python. Breakfast (we didn't do all inclusive and I'm glad, it looked poor value) is an industrial affair, some of it edible, some not. Other facilities - games room is small but adequate, poolside crowded but liveable-with, bar soulless, tennis court OK but €10 per hour, gardens are an afterthought but well kept, handy for town and local beaches if you can get a square foot of shingle. To be fair, with a big red flashing neon sign across every advert for this hotel saying NOT SUITABLE FOR FAMILIES OR THOSE WANTING MORE THAN 2 HOURS SLEEP it is OK, although all the wild horses in the world wouldn't get me back.
I stayed here with my son at the beginning of august. It was disgusting. The all inclusive was a joke. The staff were rude and abrupt. The food quality was poor. Not much choice and it was oily and cold. There were hundreds of teenage kids staying there. The only way i can describe this hotel is a school holiday drop off centre. The reception was chaos. The pool area was chaos. The whole place was chaos. Please do not stay at this hotel. Lloret de mar is what it is, but you know what to expect but there are better places to stay. They only shining light in this awful week was a little bar across the street called cafe tyrol. The owners were lovely, very friendly. They serve lovely beer and great food, especially the tapas. Once again please do not stay at the don juan.
"Please read an honest review"
06/19/14 Lorna M
The previous negative views are completely incorrect. Either the reviewers are in a different part of the don juan chain or they are simply written by people with a very single minded expectation. The bare facts are these:they staff are all polite and helpful....if you treat them as people and not your personal slaves..use their name and tell them yours. During my current stay (with four friends) we have learned each regular staff members name and have greeted them daily with a friendly greeting. As in any humane society this has resulted in them recognising us and giving us the five star treatment :) the rooms are exceptionally clean and spacious for what you need. The food is fresh and typically local. Those that come here expecting standard british fare will be disappointed, however, lloret does not claim to be an expat contingency so why are these reviewers not taking the time to inform themselves of the local cuisine. We are currently one group of a very small amount of brits, the hotel is full of people from russia, spain, italy and holland, truthfully? Im glad there are very few typical English people here as the thought of troops of whining english bellowing their distaste at beautiful, clean food, and a decent hotel for the price would be too.much too bear.give this hotel a chance and let Pedro and jose Maria, carlos, juan and william look after you!!
Just home after 7 days of Spanish ballroom boredom at grand lol Don Juan lloret.well what can I say, room had 3 single beds and not much more but a least it was clean.food was really not to bad, usual buffet fare but with the added bonus of steak, fish chicken cooked in front of you and very tasty.entertainment atrocious unless you are over 70 and love waltzing, advertised 3 pools, true I suppose I you don't want to swim in them as only 1 was open. staff horrible until they realized we were Scottish and not English and were then a lot more friendly. overall will not be back at Don Juan as there are a lot better and cheaper all Inc hotels in lorret.
"Worst all inclusive ever!!"
05/26/14 Deanne072 Manchester, United Kingdom
I'm writing this from the hotel bar surrounded by Spanish pensioners practising the waltz, drinking from my plastic breaker as us all inclusive holidaymakers clearly can't be trusted with a real glass, we even have our own "less than glamorous" bar with its very own "less than polite" staff. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade, the beds are almost falling apart & the rooms are in desperate need of a good clean. The food is rubbish and cold ...cold carrots and cold chips (yum). If your planning to come here and go all inclusive I urge you to reconsider & change hotel, the staff are very unhelpful and abrupt, the hotel is poor and you will be treated very much second class to the paying customers. As an aside they also charge you €10 deposit for the all inclusive wristband per person! The pool is small, there is nothing going on in the hotel for anyone below the age of 60 and does not speak fluent Spanish. It's raining today..cards it is then.
