This hotel is definitely targeted towards an older crowd, however the services available and provided are great for all. I read a number of reviews quoting the staff as rude or not very forthcoming. I think this is a misinterpretation and an injustice towards them. They were always helpful and tried to assist wherever possible. I do think their level […] of English language sometimes made them feel uncomfortable, but they could converse more than adequately. The swimming pool, gym, sauna and other amenities may cost extra (£3 per amenity), but it appeared this only applied in the evening (albeit the attendants were rarely there to accept the payment!). There is a shuttle bus that runs a return trip to Dubrovnik (7 miles away) for £5 pp or alternatively, there is a bus stop 200 yards from the hotel entrance on the main road which has regular buses (number 10) to Dubrovnik for £1.50 (the last bus back from Dubrovnik is at 0130 hours). The hotel itself is very quiet and idyllic for people looking for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. There is an acoustic guitar player most nights in the bar from 9pm and drinks are relatively cheap. Breakfast was brilliant and there are a number of restaurants nearby to have a good choice of evening meals. All in all, it is a superb place and I would definitely recommend it to family and friends, but not if you're wanting an adrenaline packed holiday. The sunsets from the hotel are spectacular! Smelly shower curtain, tired decor. Rude overstretched piano bar staff. Staying for just one night so did not have the energy or time to complain at the time. The hotel was of easy reach from the airport, only a 15min drive. Staff were polite and helpful, providing a brilliant service and went out of their way to arrange excursions for us. This location was good for those who want a quiet break, not for party goers. The views from and around the hotel are stunning. The hotel itself is fairly basic, having adequate amenities. We went during the London 2012 Olympics so we were often hanging out in the bar area hoping to catch some action on the TV screen. On the whole this was a much underused area of the hotel even in the evening. Food was our one disappointing […] factor. We had breakfast included and this was not great but ok if you are not fussed about the quality of what you eat. Be aware use of the gym is at an extra cost if that is one of the attractions of this hotel for you as it was for us. We decided not to use it in the end as it was charged by the hour. We did have free use of the swimming pool but as the sea is literally on the doorstep of this hotel you will probably not make use of it like us. The hotel had car hire facility on site and a number of tour operators if you wanted to see the sites and was happy to let someone take care of that. We ended up hiring a car to see more of the area. This cost about 450 Kuna's which is about £50. It's worth doing when travelling further afield otherwise use public transport, which is pretty cheap. Read more

We really enjoyed our stay at this very clean and well located hotel. It is an easy bus ride from the old town, there are lovely walks around the bay and the lunch in the beach side cafe was superb.

My husband & I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The location, Mlini was a very nice & relaxing small village. We enjoyed walking by the sea side just outside the hotel. The hotel was big but we did not feel hustled and we did not realized there were many guests staying the hotel until we went to the large dinning room. All staff were courteous […] and friendly. The dinner and breakfast were excellent in both quality and variety. There were lovely salad bars and a daily changed menu of different fish and meat at night. We both would like to recommend the hotel to our friends. Although it is a 3 stars hotel, it is better than some other 4 stars hotels we have stayed in. We arrived at the hotel from the airport by Atlas bus, but there was no public transportation on the way back to the airport from the hotel and we used taxi. There is a Libertas public bus service No.10 to go to Dubrovnik. There is quite a rise up to the bus stop on the main road from the hotel but it take about only 5 minutes by foot, and we felt it improved our health walking the hill within a few days. When you go to Dubrovnik, ask the driver for the stop for the old town. Many tourists get off at this stop and there is a reasonable short walk down to the old town. The bus stop for the return journey is located at a different place, outside the cable car's station. The hotel also has its own shuttle bus service at an additional cost. Read more

Vi hadde bungalow som lå ned mot sjøen med en fantastisk utsikt utover den Kroatiske rivieraen . Kort vei fra flyplass 10-15 min og 10-15 min inn til Dubrovnik med bil . Det gikk rutebuss fra flyplassen til Mlini som stoppet rett ovenfor hotellet 35 Kuhna eller ca 35 norske kroner.

Vid första anblick verkar Astarea vara ett bra hotell, men tyvärr är det en liten besvikelse. Då vi i bokningen efterfrågade havsutsikt frågade vi om detta vid check in redan. Som vi misstänkte höll vi på att få ett rum på nedre planen utan utsikt. Receptionen var dock mycket tillmötesgående och uppgraderade oss till översta våningen utan problem. Servicen […] i receptionen var mycket bra! Det finns dock annat som inte var lika bra. Rummen (vårat iaf) saknade kyl. AC i rummet fungerar inge vidare. Servicen i den sk pianobaren var usel. Han som servade oss kan aldrig blandat en drink förut. Bekvämligheter som pool, bastu, gym osv finns på hotellet, men allt kostar extra. Kostar inte så mycket, men att det inte ingår i hotellpriset är ju värdelöst. Frukosten var helt ok. Stor buffé innehållandes det mesta, men kvalitetsmässigt ingen toppklass tyvärr. Hotellets läge är dock mycket bra. Bara en kort promenad till en del fina restauranger och en del barer. Mlini/Srebreno som samhälle är mysigt och perfekt för de som bara vill slappa på semestern. Hotell Astarea förstör inte din vistelse på något sätt, men den höjer den inte till några högre höjder heller. Read more

Muy bueno, excelente personal, el pueblito de Mlini es un sueño. Volveremos sin duda alguna. A pesar de que era invierno y el hotel estaba en etapa de algunas reparaciones, lo pasamos muy bien y se notaba el esfuerzo del personal por atendernos bien, siendo que algunas noches yo creo que eramos los unicos huespedes. Wir waren vom 23.10.2011 - 2.11.2011 im Hotel und der Aufenthalt hat uns bei wunderbarem Wetter, immer um die 20 °, rund um gefallen. Das renovierte Hotel ist in einem ausgezeichneten Zustand, das gilt für die mit hochwertigen STAFF-Decken und - Leuchten ausgestattete Lobby, mit kostenlosem W-lan ebenso wie für die freundlichen und mit hellem Holz gestalteten […] Zimmer , Balkon mit Blick auf das Meer - dazwischen ein mit Zypressen, Kiefern, Granatapfelbäumen und anderen Bäumen der Region bepflanzter Park. Angegliedert das gute, gemütlich eingerichtete Restaurant Konobar Astarea, das 100 m entfernt, unmittelbar am Strand liegt. Ausgezeichnete Beratung und Essen. Ein riesiges Schwimmbad, etwas in die Jahre gekommen, war wohltuend beheizt und unterschied sich erfreulich von den sonst in Hotels meist üblichen Minipools. Allerdings konnten wir auch im Meer schwimmen, bei geschätzten 18-19 ° Unser Frühstücksbuffet war reichhaltig und vielfältig. Das deutsch- oder englischsprechende Personal in Rezeption oder Restaurant war ausgesprochen freundlich und zuvorkommend. Abends spielte ein Alleinunterhalter in der Bar. Die Gäste waren hauptsächlich ältere Kader, zumeist aus England. Dazwischen auch einige mittelalterliche Germanen und eine jüngere spanische Gruppe. Mlini ist kein Ort für Hi-Life, obwohl am Strand Richtung Srebeno einige Cafés/Bars liegen. Cavtat u. Dubronik sind aber in 10 min. mit Auto/Bus zuerreichen. Wir werden sicher zurückkommen. On peut donner une mention bien + due a l'emplacement idéal (si l'on possède un véhicule) à mi-chemin entre Dubrovnik et l'aéroport.La demi-pension est correcte et la nourriture bonne et suffisante.Par contre aussi bien dans tous les services que dans la chambre,l'on ressent le poids du passé étatique.
