"Brilliant budget hotel, ideal for a short stay."
The Lord Nelson hotel is a brilliant budget hotel for a short stay in Liverpool. The location is ideal for Lime Street station, which is quite literally a 2 minute walk from the front door. The noise from the academy close by can be a little annoying, but the windows to a pretty good job of shutting most, if not all of this out. The room itself was […] a little on the small side, but I would rather have a small single room with a double bed in it such as this, than have a room with a tiny single bed tucked away in the corner. The televisions in the room are of good quality and a good size and the new en suite shower rooms are fantastic! One thing i did find rather strange was that they took a photocopy of my ID at reception when checking in; they assured me it would be destroyed after checking out, but this has never happened to me in any other hotel I have stayed in and I found it a little peculiar. I would definitely stay here again when booking a short stay in Liverpool. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lovely, friendly, central and cheap hotel"
Had really nice stay in Liverpool - was great to come back to a spacious and clean room.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice big and clean room"
We had a pleasant stay all in all. The only drawbacks were the breakfast standard that could have been a bit higher even within the limited price of the room, and that it was ages before the water in the shower got warm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"good location, but not quiet"
The hotel is conveniently placed beside Lime Street station; however, this means it's on a noisy, busy street. There's also no a/c, so if you are sensitive to noise and heat, this wouldn't be a good choice. (Small, single) Room was clean, and limited amenities, and a coffee tray were provided. Lift wasn't working during my stay= carrying luggage up […] to 3rd floor was a challenge. Breakfast was basic. Despite asking for a room not on the street, and arriving early (reiterating my request), I wasn't accommodated. However, after much pleading, they found an alternate room and were even able to provide a fan (so I got lucky). In summary, had I known how loud it would be, I wouldn't have booked here, but other than that, it was acceptable (as long as the lift works). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very good location and value for money. Highly recommended.Genuine Expedia guest review
Within EASY walking distance of Lime Street Rail Station, Shops, Museums, Art Gallery and new Library. WARM welcome from ALL the staff. No Restaurant but plenty nearby. 24 hour bar. Good Value for money. Would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly hotel with a bed spring problem"
I found the staff helpful. I arrived early and they let me check in early. The hotel is very upfront about being potentially noisy, and it was pretty loud. Music from next door venue was audible until about midnight and other guests pretty loud in the corridors in the early hours as they came back from pubs and cclubs. Bathroom good. Breakfast buffet […] fine. Staff friendly and helpful. Location and distance to sights, fabulous. My main problem was with a very uncomfortable bed which was all spring and no mattress. I had to sleep on top of the duvet to try and pad it out. I can sleep in most beds, but this one nearly defeated me. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Nice environment with great attitude from staff especially the lady at the bar. she is lovely, helpful and makes you to feel welcoming. The atmosphere is conducive but, too much noise from the birds at night. Overall, we would recommend the hotel and book the hotel again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Service makes this hotel"
The receptionist was a mature man and what a difference it makes to have someone who has experience, cares and shows it. Very helpful. Room was not particularly large but had a good bed and en-suite and was clean. All that was missing was somewhere to rest my laptop to do some work.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent stay, although the rooms are a little stuffy in the very hot weatherGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was alright, small but clean. The walls seem thin as you could hear people moving about. Since this early in the week, Tuesday, most were just business or vacation travellers. This could be a problem on the weekend, since the O2 Academy is next door. Nice large TV was in room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel had been refurbished to a very good standard and everywhere we saw was nice and clean and fresh looking. All the staff were extremely helpful and all very pleasant. It was a continental breakfast serve yourself. It was first time here and was pleasantly surprised and will certainly be visiting it again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good value overnight accommodation"
Ideal for a cheap overnight with clean rooms, good facilities and helpful staff. However there are little issues such as kettles that will not fit under the tap to fill, some shabbiness and bits and pieces of finishing off not done.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Basic but clean and comfortable budget hotel"
I work in Liverpool and occasionally stay overnight. The Lord Nelson is basic but clean and comfortable, and I've found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. Bear in mind it is next door to a pub and the O2 Academy, so potentially noisy, but when I've stayed its been fine. Very convenient for Lime Station too. Overall an excellent budget hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
Checked in hassle free, with a great location next door to Lime Street station and friendly staff at the bar and check in desk. Our room was spacious and clean, although the aerial for the TV wasn't working well, although this wasn't a huge problem as we were going to be out most of the time. So far so good...We got back from our night our at approximately […] 2.30 to find our friends room had been flooded, with a massive leak from the ceiling covering their beds, bags and clothes in water. On discovering this we rushed to reception to tell the nightstaff whose response was to very unhelpfully give us a bucket and tell us to sort it ourselves! Noah and his ark would have been at home with the amount of water in the room, so a bucket wasn't going to touch it! Eventually he left his desk to come and take a look, finally realising the room was unhabitable. It turned out there was an elderly man in the room above who'd left the taps on all night, causing the leaking from the ceiling. There were no spare rooms, fortunately we had a free single bed in our room that our friends could share. The staff the next day were highly apologetic and provided us with a full refund, which we appreciated and understood as this was not their fault, however the response from the nightstaff could have been better. Overall the hotel was pleasant enough and so were the day staff, so we would still consider staying over again in the future as hopefully this was a freak occurrence! This was the second time I've stayed at the Lord Nelson, and I would not hesitate to stay there again for location and convenience while doing other things in Liverpool. The room was absolutely spotless, the service was friendly and overall, for a low cost, basic service, I don't think there's anything they could have done better.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly staff, good service"
Overall I enjoyed my stay here. Unfortunately the electricity in my room kept tripping in the evening which took a while to sort out, but the staff were very helpful and pleasant. It was quite noisy at times but this is no reflection on the hotel itself, just a consideration to make if you're a light sleeper! The main draw is the great location just […] near the station, and the cleanliness and comfort of the room was very good. I have booked here again and would definitely do so in the future. Very good in every way. Lovely welcome. Great healthy buffet breakfast and coffee served with a smile. Very comfortable room with tea and coffee and very clean. Beside Lime Street station, theatre, 02 Academy and shops. Would recommend it as a hotel for great value, comfort, character friendliness and location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location at an affordable price!"
Lord Nelson Hotel is a 2 star type of accommodation, so do not expect any kind of luxury. The customer service was excellent, at our arrival we were welcomed in a very friendly way. The room we had was big and clean and the bed was alright, the mattress a bit too soft. Breakfast in the morning was just what we needed: toasts, jam, cheese, yogurt, cereals, […] orange juice, coffee and tea. Overall this hotel as been great for us thanks to the location (just next to the train station and the city centre) and the amazing service we received from all the staff. "convenient for the theatre"
stayed in a big updated front room.It was very clean and had everything you need. Convenient for the Empire theatre and Lime St station. Noisey at times with hen parties returning home in the early hours, but we were in the centre of a city. Breakfast was basic but very nice.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great central location"
Hotel was very central to all major sights. The hotel staff were very friendly. We had a room at the front which was a bit noisy at times, but this was to be expected due to location. The room was very large with a large bathroom, plus tea making fascilities. Towels were changed daily. Continental breakfast was good. Only round the corner from the railway […] station so after 5 minutes of arriving in Liverpool we were in our room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice place to stay for a night or two"
It is a nice place to stay for a night or two. Building is itself kinda old, but rooms were clean. Did not use their bar. Staff was fine too, ready to answer any questions. You could hear someone walking in the corridor, but that's about it, was not noisy at all. It's biggest benefit is it's location, right next to Lime Street Station.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good for a night, mostly for groups"
I felt the room was over-priced for what it had to offer. The bed was not made until after I checked in. There is no soap in the bathroom and no phone in the room. The tv is too big for the room. The hotel was ok; the breakfast a bit poor though and the lift was not working. The doors on every floor are difficult to open and make a noise. The staff […] were friendly and helpful. However, they failed to keep the noise level down during the night. The corridor was swarming with drunken noisy guests hanging around or going from one room to the other and the staff failed to discipline them, despite the fact there are cameras, so they must have been aware of it.
