I was impressed with wendy at reception who was efficient and presentable. most staff were keen to help and I only had one who when asked for a late checkout was very unhelful and wanted me to leave by 9.30 am which was a bit early and wendy fixed that ,very nice lady.A good quiet location to recharge the batteries.

Room was very small even though we booked an upgraded room. Only had one set of towels in room but was rectified quickly. Restaurant was buffet style for evening meal - food was only warm. Breakfast was very good. Swimming pool was very good but had very limited opening times.

Having travelled for 7 hours I would of liked to of been able to get to room, and not wait an hour till room is ready. 3.00pm is late to take over room, considering that it has to be vacated by 9.30 in the morning. Also the gym - couldnt get on a treadmill as they were taken up by guests who stayed on for over an hour. I've used the De Vere on numerous occasions now and highly recommend it. Lovely rooms, rural location, great service and use of the sports/swimming facilities. Breakfast is always excellent and unlike certain competitors, the De Vere has the decency to serve up proper coffee! A great hotel.

Soap/cleaning product was still on the bath & had not been removed almost fell trying to have a shower. I booked this hotel as the rooms (even the single one's) looked very modern and clean in the pictures. The room I had however was nothing like the pictures shown having a 14" portable tv in the room. This had to be changed as it was broke and had no remote either and only had 7 channels on it. Not what you would expect from the description of 'cable […] channels' that is given in the description. Overall the room looked like it was last decorated in the 80's with little thought given to how it all fitted together. The furniture looked like a mish mash of 'what was available' and made for a very unappealing room. The bathroom was dated (very) with no sleek suite as in the pictures again and the taps were near impossible to turn on and off in the bathroom as they were impossible to grip and turn. Overall the room was below the standard I would expect from this hotel chain, especially when compared to the pictures given. Unfortunately due to health I was not able to check out the facilities at this hotel. They may well have been redeeming but all I was fit for staying in room mainly, so not a good experience. However I must end on a positive note that all staff were very helpful and could not be faulted. Also the gurger I had in the bar was very good and surpassed what I was expecting. So if you are looking to book this hotel be wary that it may not be all what you see but you will be pleased with the service. Read more
