I enjoyed my stay including the friendly staff. I was surprised that there wasn't a microwave in all the rooms. Only those classified as suites have microwaves. Otherwise, it was a nice, clean place to stay. The location was certainly convenient.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very clean, friendly staff."
The hotel was very clean, new rooms and friendly staff. The next morning breakfast wasn't served until 6am but we got down there early to catch the FREE shuttle that was offered to the airport and since they had most of the food set out already, they let us eat. Over all a good experience. My only complaint was that the woman staffing the breakfast was a bit surly, and the food was not kept stocked while we were there (one hour before the end of breakfast). We always stay at here when we visit Kentwood. There are a ton of shops and restaurants to choose from right near the hotel. We have a five year old, and the rooms are spacious enough to play in. Would be helpful to have signs out by the main hwy coming off express way. We had a little trouble finding it. Once we were there, everything was very nice, minus the re-flooring project in the lobby, but not a problem. Our stay was overall very nice except for the fact that the elevator malfunctioned and we we stuck in it for at least 15 minutes while it overheated and go uncomfortably warm in there and the staff really seemed not very concerned. "Any Average Nights-stay"
The first room we walked in smelt of smoke immediately as we open the door to the room. The hotel did move us with no problems, but there was nothing fantastic about this stay at all. You must add additional signage to help people find your hotel. Drove around for 10 minutes before I could locate the hotel. It is not on 28th street, and having only one sign in the parking lot and a very small sign on a light post is not enough. Pay up and get some signs. We just completed an overnight stay at the Hampton Grand Rapids Airport and it was an excellent hotel, with nice clean rooms, a great bed and nice friendly staff. The only trouble we had was finding the place. We had made reservations via Hotels.com and had a printout with a map, that showed the location of the hotel....which was NOT ACCURATE at all. […] The map showed where the road was, that lead back through a shopping center, and around the back of the stores, to a road that paralleled the expressway and finally to the hotel property. You have to drive back through the shopping center parking lot a ways to find the first small sign that directs you to the hotel property....no sign at the highway, only a street sign called "Hotel Road". The hotel is excellent, the staff is great, the pool is very good but the scrambled eggs served for breakfast need a huge improvement. They remind me of the old WW-2 "K" rations because they are tooooooooooo dry. Flavor and moisten them up with butter or sausage oil. Why was the Hampton Inn breakfast special bagel scrambled egg, cheese and sausage ONLY […] SERVED ONE MORNING? And, when the kitchen ran out of fresh fruit slices and chunks, why wasn't the the lady in charge of the breakfast allowed to order some in? Also, I checked out on Thursday and I was told to expect those holds not to be removed until next Monday at the earliest.... not happy! (Oh, and the listing stated that we would have a microwave, so we brought microwavable food for the kids... nope, no microwave.. and the hair dryer was broken. These two things however, would not sway me from staying again -just the credit card thing.) All in all, it was a GREAT hotel, but watch your credit card statement!!! "Knowledge of HH"
When we registered I asked if there were an upgrade available with my HH points and status. There were any number of reasons given why they couldn't upgrade me; from you don't qualify to we don't have upgrades available and systematically referring me to HH.com for answers. First time that I've been not answered directly or with a positive attitude. […] That was the one disappointing part of our stay. it's the first time I was not awarded an upgrade from the Hampton Inns with my HH status. I was told when we checked into our room and I called down about an upgrade and they confirmed that they had an upgrade unit available, so we went down and when we got to the front desk they informed us we didn't qualify.
