We were traveling from Provence to the Loire Valley and decided to break up the drive by staying 2 nights in mid-france and also we wanted to experience a less traveled area. The chateau was a find. The staff could not have been more helpful. The restaurant was fabulous. We visited some small local towns as well as Vichy. We were glad to be off the beaten path and just to relax for a couple of days. Recommend the hotel and restaurant without reservation.

We had an overnight stay in Clermont Ferrand on our way from Sarlat to Lyon, not expecting a great deal, but we were pleasantly surprised with the ambiance of the city and the hotel was a good location for exploring the town.

This was a fabulous 'find'. Completely unknown to us, the setting was in an elegant thermal spa town. The hotel lived up to its name Splendid. The room was spacious with a balcony with pleasant view. Downstairs one could take the waters where various thermals spas were pumped to flowing taps where one could sample 4 different waters containing different minerals. Best feature of all was the outdoor heated swimming pool with fabulous view of the surrounding hills and pine forests. It was like stepping into a lukewarm bath and a total delight after a long drive to relax in such a manner. (Only open from late Spring to early Autumn).Must certainly make point of visiting this hotel again.

Kind staff (non English speaking for the most part)with helpful intent. Clean, rather worn, a true 2-3 star. Yummy,reasonable restaurant for dinner next door, ok breakfast. Debated that bill was fully prepaid. They said all taxes had not been paid. Our receipt said "fully paid" Someone should check your accounting. Nobody needs discussions in extra languages. Happened twice on this trip, again @ Best Western.

"Fair value, good sleep, convenient location"
Arrived at 10pm to find the reception had closed but an envelope was taped to the door addressed to me, telling me where to find the key to my room. Room was clean and comfortable. Soap dispenser in bathroom was broken, but otherwise everything was fine. Free wi-fi worked well and offered reasonable speed. "Wished we hadn't stayed here"
Stayed at lots of permiere classes throughout France, but this was the worst. Arrived after 9pm - but automate check in was not working - no phone number, took us over an hour to get in our room. Air con dripped all night - SO NOISY - people having all night parties on the balcony. pillows felt like they were made of paper mache and matress made of […] metal pieces. worst hotel i have ever stayed in. "premiere classe - aubieres"
Convenient stop over, just off the motorway. Have used many times before but on this occassion the hotel was under going refurbishment so a lay-in was out . A booking after June should find you getting a good, clean refurbished room.
"pratique"
bon acceuil, chambre refaite et agréable mais pas trés propre, beaucoup de poussiere sous le lit, et sur le coté de la table de nuit, que deux serviettes alors que nous étions trois.
Tres mauvaise impression. Quand nous sommes au toilette, les jambes touchent la porte. Le papier toilette est coincé dans le dérouleur. La femme de ménage nous a réveillés à 9 h en ouvrant la porte. On entend toutes les conversations des chambres voisines. Le lavabo commençait à être bouché. Les environs sont très bruyants.

"Hotel (première) classe..."
La porte de notre chambre fermait apparemment mal, nous avons passé une nuit horrible donc courte car l’hôtel se situe à 50 m de l'autoroute!!! La salle de bain était minuscule et....sale. Nous n'y retournerons pas.
Hôtel bien situé, personnel agréable, petit déjeuner copieux et varié, tout celà pour pas cher...... Quand nous aurons l'occasion de revenir à Clermont sans nul doute nous reviendrons, de plus il y a le dimanche un très beau marché à Aubières.
pratique mais les douches sont toujours trop petite
"Séjour à Clermont"
Nous étions trois, la chambre était propre bien que pas très grande, juste de quoi faire le tour des lits. Peut d'espace pour respirer quand on dort en lit superposé (attention à la tête). A 5 minutes en voiture du tramway, très pratique. La proximité avec l'autoroute faisait que c'était bruyant. Le cinéma juste en face : un vrai plus !

Chambre pas très propre, murs dans la salle de bain/toilettes pourris et douche vraiment trop petite si l'on fait plus de 60kg ! Pas d'ascenseur pour monter 2 étages à l'extérieur (personnes âgées, femmes enceintes... s'abstenir). La chambre sentait le tabac froid.
