"Affordable by European High Price Standards"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
Nice place. Walking distance to metro. If you do not have heavy suitcases then take the metro from Airport instead of cabs. Great spread for Breakfast buffet. We had a suite. Only one bathroom. An extra half bath would be prefect or at least an extra sink (instead of a lot of cupboard space). Friendly and helpful staff.

"A rare find for the money and location"
This is a small, cozy and well-maintained hotel. Located 60 yards away from the metro station, the hotel is 10 minutes walk from the Royal Palace. We booked a room for 4 people. Our room was actually a one-bed studio which had a separate sitting area with a sofa bed. The sitting area has a small kitchen equipped with sink, microwave, refrigirator and […] even cooking range (no utensils though). There is a asian grocery market right at the hotel's door step. Foods are inexpensive there compared to NY Chinatown. I also bought a power converter there for 2 euros. We will definitely go back to the hotel and recommend it to friends. "Great value, great location for ideal stay"
My wife and I had several great days here. The staff was very accomodating, checking us in early and was always willing to help and direct us to areas to visit. The location is very easy to find, right off Gran Via. There cannot be a better value in Madrid as the suites are huge and spotlessly clean. Trying to come up with any negative is a challenge, […] and if any the beds are probably much more firm than we'd choose, yet that is just our preference. I will not stay anywhere else should we be fortunate enough to come back to Madrid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Friendly and helpful English speaking staff."
Suites 33 is a small, but very comfortable hotel. Hotel staff were extremely helpful. We had just arrived in Spain and spoke no Spanish. Since we arrived in the early morning they held our luggage in a back room (which did not appear to be locked, but upon our return everything was in place). We spent three nights at the hotel. Our first stay was on […] the top floor and had no issues. Our second stay was on the second floor and we could not sleep while the person above of us walked the floor with what we assumed were high heels from the sound that carried to our room (she must have walked in circles for 30 minutes). We went to a family restaurant recommended by hotel staff and had one of our best experiences in Spain. I would recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Clean, safe, convenient hotel"
Great location - close to the metro and walking distance to a number of destinations, including Plaza Mayor and major shopping. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Great to have a fridge/microwave/stovetop.Genuine Expedia guest review

Great location. Easy walk to all the sites and good restaurants. Some street noise, would recommend ear plugs. Kitchen has no supplies, so not really usable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hotel - A bit off the Path"
The hotel is near everything you will need, but it is a little hidden off the main road. Dont recommend checking-in after dark as it may make it difficult to find if coming off the train to get there. Once you find yourself inside - nice little hotel. Not huge, but nice rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice comfortable small hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Small elevator. We had to park our car a block away in another hotel's parking which cost about 20 Euros per night. Location was excellent for shopping, museums and the royal palace. The street the hotel is on is very busy and noisy, but the police station is very close.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The room was nice, clean, and well maintained. The front desk staff was very helpful (in both English and Spanish). "Excellent accommodation in central madrid"
Our room on the 5th floor (the top floor) at Suites 33 was brilliant. There was no view, but in its favour the bed room was very large had a huge bed, contained a well equipped kitchenette (microwave, hob, fridge, cupboards - but no cutlery, plates, saucepans etc) and was annexed to a lounge with sofa and tv. The bathroom had a bath, shower, toilet […] and bidet. The rooms were all exceptionally clean and well kept. We took cups and cutlery to make hot drinks but you could take more with you and cook basic meals. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful providing maps and recommendations and all speak English. There is somewhere to store bags after check out if you need it. The hotel is in between two metro stops each about 3-4 minutes away and it takes about 10 minutes down mainly pedestrian streets to get to the very centre of Madrid. The street itself could be quite loud so probably best to ask for a back room if you get disturbed easiliy. There is a chinese supermarket just next door and there are a number of small convenience stores nearby. This is an exceptional place for the price with all the comfort, space and quality you could ever want for a short stay/week long stay in Madrid. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Shame there is no tea and coffee making facilities, espacially when the hotel doesn't have a restaurant! "Madrid hotel - great location for sight seeing."
We stayed in Suites 33 in a family room for 2 nights in August 2011, very happy to find a hotel that would allow all 4 of our famiy stay together - chidren ages 11 and 13 with us. AC could have been a bit cooler consideriing it was 38 degrees outside, but we were comfortable, just slept with a sheet, no blankets. Overall, friendly front desk staff and perfect for sight seeing. "Amazing hotel in excellent location !"
This hotel is a great place to stay, it delivers great value and the kitchenette was a nice bonus. The people at reception are AMAZING they really do their most to help you out and can speak very good English. As for the rooms, they are large, clean and simple. The beds are a little firm but I found them comfortable enough. They could improve the air […] conditioning a bit as it does get warm at night and we prefer to sleep in cooler air. Overall its as good as it gets for a 3 star hotel. The location is excellent, its about a 3 minute walk to the Plaza Espana Metro which gets you anywhere in the city within about 10-15 minutes, plus youre already in walking distance to many sights such as Temple of Debod. "stayed in hotel in two days we were in Madrid"
The hotel service was beyond expectation. For the price, I thought I would get some beaten up place just turned into a hotel. This was not the case. The staff was friendly, multilingual, and the rooms were as good as I have got in 5 star hotels in Southern France. We had a problem with our international electrical adaptor and the the staff did everything […] they could until we solved the problem. The rooms were comfortable. Not sure the air conditioning really went to the right degree, but it worked. So we were not burning up in the summer heat. We were very comfortable thermally. The street that it is on is a little spooky. There are several bars with questionable characters hanging out outside. But there is a police staition not 50 meters from the hotel on the same street with about 6 police cars outside all the time. So despite the seedy bars, we felt safe enough to even walk home from the center. Next time I go to Madrid, I will stay there. But one warning, it is a suite. You do have a kitchen. But , understandably, there are no pots and pans nor silverware. So don't expect to do your own cooking there. But then again, who expects that from a hotel from a hotel room. "Good central location in Madrid"
Suites 33 is very centrally located only 2 minutes walk from the Plaza Espana. Despite the central location, it is in a quiet side street. We asked for and got a quiet room at the back of the hotel and we experienced no noise even on weekend nights when Madrid is at its busiest. The room was spacious, with a sleeping area, a kitchen area, a well fitted […] modern bathroom and an entrance hallway. The kitchen had a microwave, a fridge and a two ring electric cooker hob. However, there were no utensils provided. If you bring your own plastic cups, spoons and knives, and tea/coffee you will be OK. There are several mini-markets nearby where you can buy basics, including one next door to the hotel. The hotel seems to be in the Chinatown area so most shops are good for Chinese food, but a bit limited on more western things. A better mini-market is located just up the road toward Plaza Santo Domingo (out of hotel and turn right) about 3 minutes walk away, and for the best supermarket selection go another 3 minutes walk from Santo Domingo to Callao metro station where there is a very large department store – El Corte Ingles – which has a vast supermarket in its basement, with good value food and drink. There are numerous restaurants nearby. We enjoyed the Cafeteria Domingo, which is on Plaza Santa Domingo and had their “menu del dia”, which was excellent for 10 euro (or 11.50 euro at weekends). Three courses plus bread and wine or water, with about 6 choices for each course. The place was usually very busy with locals, which is always a good sign. They seem only to deal in full bottles of wine so if there are two of you ask for one wine and one water – this will result in a full bottle of wine with an additional bottle of water. The local tourist sites such as the Royal Palace, Plaza Major, Puerta del Sol, Cathedral etc are all within easy walking distance and it is a short metro ride to the Prado area – or walkable if you have 20 minutes to spare.
