Palazzo Failla - Modica

I chose this hotel strictly b/c of the excellent reviews I read online. the reviews were right on the money. the decor is oozing w/ character. the front desk personell could not have been more helpful & sweet. our room had a terrace that we actually sat out out on @ night w/ candles & ate a picnic dinner on. the room had a mini sitting area, old world […] style complete w/ anitiques & tile floors, bathroom was large, modern & spotelessly clean w/ a skylight that opened electronically. the onsite restaurant was extremely overpriced but everything else was incredible. this will go down in history as one of our all time favorite hotels & we have travelled extensively. it was intimate & seemed more like a B & B. we adore the Pallazzo Failla !!! There was a problem when we arrived with our room, but the hotel receptionist showed me a small double and gave us a complementary meal for one in the hotel restuarant, where we'd already booked a table for dinner anyway. They couldn't do more for us and were very apologetic. Lovely stay, would have liked more time there. Beautiful rooms and buildings. Delicious breakfasts as well as trattoria and Michelin star restaurant. Extremely helpful and gracious staff who arranged transfer to and from the airport as well local trips around the 'Baroque Triangle' of which Modica is one point. Thoroughly recommend this hotel. Relaxing and friendly.

We stayed in a classsic room. It had no windows only a small skylight which meant it was dark. If you can afford it go for the better rooms. I am sure the hotel restaurant would have been excellent but it was rather pricey so we went for the sicillian restaurant across the road which had excellent food and house wine at a very reasonable price. This hotel is impossible to find unless you locate the information office and get a map! It is in Modica Alta which is rather scruffy with the inevitable parking problem - unless you pay extra to use the hotel carpark. However, we got the last public space. As the building was once a classical private home with a limited number of bedrooms, there is […] great discrepancy in the size and amenities in the accommodation. However, we were surprised to be told that we had been 'upgraded' to a comfort room with jacuzzi etc which was a quarter mile up the road, in a violent rainstorm (even though our classic room was pre-paid). When we refused the upgrade, we were told the hotel was full!! When we again insisted on what we had booked we were given an attic room which, though large and charmingly decorated, had a louvre window in the roof - during the violent strorm that night, I was kept awake by constant pattering raindrops. We ate dinner in the restaurant in the hotel annexe a quarter mile up the road - a very strange meal with the usual continental aversion to fresh green vegetables - but were unable to have coffee afterwards as the annexe had no facilities for this! Breakfast was a rather grand buffet witih high quality dishes. As a Johanssen establishment, this hotel has certain logistical issues that need to be resolved but it was still good value for money. I stayed at this hotel in April 2011 in one of the superior executive suits located remotely from the main hotel building. This is the first hotel in Sicily that we stayed in that truely meets 4* standards that a UK guest would expect (and i stayed in quite a few). The best asset of this hotel is the staff who have a "yes i can" attitude and will bend […] over backwards to ensure guests are comfortable and will assist with any questions regarding the local area or any other matters. A member of staff even stopped to give us a lift back to the hotel after passing us walking back (they were going in the other direction). The staff are outstanding but the hotel is great too. The rooms were tastefully decorated with a fantastic hydro-massage shower cabin. The breakfast is very substantial and delicious and if eating in either of the hotel restaurants you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Read more

Das Zimmer war generell sauber, jedoch fand ich ein langes schwarzes Haar im Becken im Bad, was definitiv nicht von uns sein konnte. Eine spaete Anreise (ca. Mitternacht) war moeglich. Leider hat man jedoch Schwierigkeiten, in der Naehe einen Parkplatz zu finden. Das Hotel hat keinen Parkplatz und gerade an einem Freitag Abend mussten wir viele Seitenstrassen […] ums Hotel abfahren, um endlich einen Parkplatz zu finden. Das Hotel liegt in Mitten in der Innenstadt und viele Leute waren standen in Grueppchen auf der Strasse. Dennoch hielt sich der Laermpegel in unserem Zimmer in Grenzen. Die Minibar war zwar gefuellt, jedoch gab es im Zimmer keinen Flaschenoeffner, wir hatten wirklich jede Schublade und Ablage abgesucht, so dass wir die Colaflasche nicht aufbrachten. Daher haben wir auf die Nutzung der Minibar verzichtet. Das Fruehstueck war reichhaltig, insbesondere gut fuer Personen, die gerne Suesses am Morgen essen. Es gab drei Kuchen, diverse Croissants mit Fuellungen. Wenn man eher das deftige Fruehstueck mag so muss man mit einer Sorte Salami und Schinken auskommen. Es gibt nur gekochte Eier, keine Ruehr- oder Spiegeleier. Read more

丘の上のホテルでしたが、夜8時まで送迎自在。帰りはバス停まで送ってい頂きました。とてもきめ細かなサービスと、快適なテラスでの朝食。滞在中、母の誕生日にはお祝いのフルボトルのシャンペンをいただきました。旅の疲れでボトルを空けられず持ち返りましたが、この気くばりに母はとても幸せそうでした。家庭的で、フレンドリーなスタッフの顔は忘れられません！

Bien qu'ayant eu une chambre à "l'Annexe" du Palazzo, à 50m environ de celui-ci, ce que nous avons un peu regretté, notre chambre était quand même digne d'un Palais. Calme, confort, ordinateur dans la chambre, réfrigérateur, décoration superbe, chambre et salle de bains luxueuses.
