"not bad & out of way but no matter (cheap taxi's)"
Stayed for 3 nights in October of '12, it's a ways away from the places you really want to go to but taxi's are SUPER cheap here so jumping to a taxi and getting you to the center of downtown HK Island is roughly $6.50 USD. The internet is free sometimes and not other's but they let me slide in for free for a couple of minutes one day which was nice. […] Their housekeeping was very polite and helpful, they let me hold onto an iron and ironing board for a day and a half. I found all the neighborhoods in HK to look gloomy and beaten down so you'll never really get away from that wherever you stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The Emperor Hotel fits all our needs, it is close to the trams, yet is in a very quiet corner of Happy Valley. Clean and with spacious bedrooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for the night"
Stayed for a night, arriving very late en route to mainland. Generally service was good, room was rather small, was supposed to be for 2 people, and single bed unusually small, had to double up 2 beds to get good space. Breakfast was good, paid separately. Recommended for those visiting HK downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, quiet & comfort"
Great stay, free upgrade to bigger room. Free Wifi in room. Also provide shuttle to HKCC in the morning. It will be better if shuttle can be provided for picking up guests from Convention area. Overall a very good value for money and great front desk service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very clean and tidy. Reception was pleasant. Hotel location convenient and I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would definitely stay again"
I was visiting family in the Happy Valley area so this hotel suited me very well and was also good for local services including local cafes and restaurants for breakfasts, lunches and dinners. I found the staff to be very helpful and responded to any request l made happily and efficiently. The tram taking approx 15-20 minutes into HK centre is only […] around the corner together with taxi and bus services. In addition, the hotel does provide a very good complimentary shuttle service at various times in the morning & afternoon and taxis are also available from here. Walking into the centre is also an option, about 20 minutes, although can be very hot and sticky when temperatures reach in excess of 30 degrees. If you want a hotel that is a Iittle bit out of the hussle and bussle but still with good local amenities and easily accessible to the centre this is an ideal location. I would certainly stay in this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Location is good. The shuttle bus arrangement facilitates the guests to reach the shopping points. The staff are nice. My stay in the hotel allowed me to have a good rest after the refractive surgery in HK Sanatorium Hospital.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will recommend if you know the area well"
The location is at Happy Valley, which seems to be a bit off the downtown area, however, there is a mini bus, bus and tram which takes you to downtown and MTR. There are many hotels at more convenient location, but as I know the area and the way around, I quite like this location. Moreover, there are a few very good old chinese style coffee place, places […] selling very good congee and noodles. Services on the whole is pretty good. My room is pretty small, and the bath tub seems a bit warn out. However, they have kept the place clean. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"One night in Hong Kong"
A nice Hotel very close to the Horse Race track in Happy Valley and a short distance walk (10 min) to Hennesy Road for shopping. For first time visitors to HK please keep in mind that HK has a limited space therefore the buildings are slim and tall. Standard rooms are small but good for a short stay.

Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Ideal Base to explore the Island"
08/26/14 Jeremy4939 Towcester
The Emperor (Happy Valley) Hotel is a tranquil retreat, amid the dazzling skyscrapers of the Hong Kong being located in the premier Happy Valley neighbourhood on Hong Kong Island. There are 150 guest rooms and suites, traditionally designed for the discriminating traveller. The staff are friendly, inviting, and also efficient. Whether it is your first visit to Hong Kong, or you’re a seasoned traveller, you will feel right at home, while experiencing an unobtrusive and personalized attention. There are two restaurants in the hotel - first being the Golden Valley, Michelin Starred Restaurant, a quiet retreat from the jostling urban scene that features authentic Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine, prepared by award-winning chefs in a traditional Chinese setting. One can enjoy imperial Dim Sum and other regional specialities for lunch or dinner. Then the alternative is the Coffee Shop, where international cuisine can be found from 7.00 am and throughout the day and evening - everything from Western favourites to authentic Asian specialities. We nearly always venture out into the many nearby restaurants, where you will be spoilt for choice. Location of the hotel is ideal. It has nearby the legendary Happy Valley Racecourse, and the bustling Wan Chai and Causeway Bay entertainment and shopping districts, as well as near to the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre; Victoria Park; the Wanchai & Causeway Bay MTR Stations; The Lee Gardens; Times Square; Hong Kong Stadium; Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital ; Happy Valley Tram Terminus and the Central Business District, where the station for the Airport Express Train is located, a 25 minute journey, with only then a 15 minutes taxi ride to the hotel. This method of transportation to and from the airport will set you back a total of 145 HKD, as against a taxi to or from the airport in the region of 380 HKD. Alternatives can be arranged, by prior arrangement with the hotel, for a limo to collect or deliver you to the airport. The Hotel provides a complimentary scheduled shuttle bus service exclusively for guests running between hotel and the business, shopping and entertainment areas in Central, Wanchai and Causeway Bay. International Finance Centre (the Airport Express & Disneyland Lines), HK Convention & Exhibition Centre, 298 Computer Zone, Times Square, The Lee Gardens and Sogo Department Store etc. We found it very good value for money, particularly if what you are looking for is a base to explore Hong Kong from, thus requiring a comfortable clean bed in room to relax in. If you are looking for more of a western hospitality hotel, then this may not be the place for you.

"Nice In Spite of Location"

I've been at this hotel a few times and think it is above average for budget hotels in Hong Kong. One thing to consider, though, is the location. There is no MTR stop in Happy Valley so to get to the MTR you need to get a taxi or take a bus. Taxi to the nearest MTR station (Wanchai) is about $8. The hotel does have a nice restaurant and the food is quite good, but the menu is limited. Nearby restaurant choices are limited, but there are fast food outlets and a major supermarket within walking distance. The rooms are nice. They are not very big, but then smallish hotel rooms in Hong Kong are the norm. Service is excellent and staff is very friendly. Rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable for two adults. If you have children, you should be looking elsewhere. Unlike other travelers, in my opinion I found no language barriers at all. Staff were helpful and easy to understand and communicate with. This hotel is far more relaxing than others located in more central areas.
"great city break"
The hotel is in general good. I had quite small room, but for solo traveller it was really enaugh. The only one thing in the room I did not like is the fact, thah I couldnt open the window. Very friendly staff including reception, restaurant, door man, house keeping etc... I liked the area in which is hotel situated. There was a lot of options to explore and it was only few minutes from the most bussy places.
"Comfy Hotel away from the crowd"
04/25/14 happy_elle Lucena City, Philippines
The hotel is just enough for rest or sleep stays. The hotel was a bit away from HongKong Central but trams can be found nearby. Make sure to choose the perfect room with a good window that will help you see through Happy Valley area. The receptionists and hotel staffs (e.g food service crew) are courteous but have slight difficulty in using English language. The room and amenities are clean and fresh except for the bath tub which I found a bit 'uncleaned'. The food they serve are great! All in all it was a nice and comfortable enough stay.
"Great view, clean rooms. a little way from SoHo, but a good area"
04/23/14 joanna s London, United Kingdom
We stayed here a while back and had a very pleasant stay. The rooms aren't too small, the service is good and the airco won't freeze you. The old fashioned trams stop a minute or so down the road and take you to the business centre & ferry's. Happy Valley is the big horse race park.
"Does the trick"

We stayed there during four nights, although it is not in the heart of Hong Kong, it has a few things that make it easier to move around. For one the hotel offers a shuttle that runs all morning and can leave you at key places such as the IFC mall, Hong Kong station and Times Square, among others. Furthermore there is a bus stop in front of the hotel that can leave you in Times Square, and you can take that same bus to return to the hotel, it is number 30. The hotel is clean, it has good service, but the towels are old and keep in mind that the beds are small, if you are tall your feet will be out of the bed. We got our breakfast included in the package and they have a great buffet that we really enjoyed. It is a good value for your money.
"Rude , charge us on the room twice by mistake"
I don't understand why pepol say it's perfect location , the location is far away u need to take bus then take metro station to reach to central ,in the website where we booked the said it's 5 min away from mtr it's far by 20 min , service was horrible , recipetionist was rude he make me sing on bill without I notice so he double charge me on the room I found that , I have paid for one room 2 times , the are not helpful , Internet connection is very poor the give u code to use only for one decide how silly is that , would I go back to this hotel ? For sure not it's was my first and last time , plus rooms were so small like smurf house , I really regret I stayed with them hope my review would be helpful it's only based on my own experience .
"A nice hotel"
11/15/13 Linklater Oslo Norway Scandinavia
Good location, Nice staff. Nice rooms. the restaurant is excellent and has one Michelin star. IT's not a 5 star, but still I think the service is good. Breakfast is good. Beds: 4. a bit hard. The air condition rattled. that's a bit annoying. The reception staff is a bit non-smiling, but it's ok. excellent for Our purpose, which was to get to the Happy 'valley Race Course . Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance.
"Great location and friendlt staff"
10/21/13 MariaM933 Manchester, United Kingdom
Good location, with plenty of restaurants, supermarket, all withing walking distance. There is a very frequent bus stop just right infront of the hotel which takes you to Causeway Bay in 10 minutes, costing 3-4 HK dolar. Staff are extremely friendly, room very cosy with small beds though. Would defo stay in this hotel considering its price and the fact that you see HK celebrities around very often.
