A short but complicated trip to the centre of town.
The hotel is tyipical Premiere Classe (basic but a good stopover).
Fair carpark, room fine with a big bed & a small bathroom.
Smoke from smokers outside somehow got into room and there was a draft through the door on a very windy night. The site is shared with a Hippopotamus restaurant. The Piper-Heidseick champagne house was close to car park entrance
We stayed here to break the journey.
The room is a prefab with a one piece bathroom.
These a cheap and there was plentiful parking.
The room has wifi, albeit slow, and a tv and power sockets.
They are clean and we slept ok.
But that is literally IT.
Great as a stopover while driving back from one end of the country to the other
We stayed here to break up a long drive en route to the Alps. For the price it was ok for a one night stay. The room was small for three people and the bathroom was tiny. When we arrived there was no toilet roll. However, the beds were comfy and the room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was disappointing for the price, it was advertised as continental but had no cheese or meats. Also no plates! Unfortunately we had a large party of teenagers stay at the same time who were noisy until the early hours!
It's hard to write a glowing review of a Premiere Classe hotel as they really don't try to market themselves as a glamorous holiday destination and admit that they're a convenient place to take a break from a long journey without breaking the bank. We travelled from the UK to the Alps and Italy, and broke up the long motorway stretches with one night pit-stops at Premiere Classe hotels and they did exactly what we wanted them to, we had comfortable enough beds, plenty of sockets to charge phones and devices and a reasonable breakfast. There were chain style restaurants nearby for an economical evening meal and a tv in the room for the children to fall asleep to. No channels in English but you can't really expect that on the continent and the kids soon get used to watching a film in French and guessing the outcomes! No real complaints, and no fireworks either, just a reasonable place to sleep en route to somewhere nicer.
We arrived late so did not meet any staff, or use the restaurant opposite. Judging by the reviews, this was probably a good thing on both counts.
But our rooms were very clean and well presented and the bed was very comfortable. It was quiet. The wifi worked. There were sufficient towels. All in all, a very pleasant stay and an excellent value for money way to break the journey from the Alps to Calais.
The room was tiny but clean and it was quite noisy but as it was a stop over that is not the end of the world, you would never class this as a hotel for holidaying. However, what really lets the chaain down is rude and unhelpful reception staff. The restaurant Hippopotamus on site was awful with the rudest waiters of all time. It is such a shame that France can not come close to Italy and its neighbouring countries for providing customer service. Premeire Class needs to give staff much more training in terms of service.
Cheap, clean and comfortable for an overnight stop on the way to the Alps. More importantly, access was no problem out of reception hours. The same cannot be said for other chains. Will definitely stay again.
On the night we stayed, the hotel was host to a party of 2 coachloads of schoolchildren who ran around very noisily until midnight and then again from 6.00 am. However, the hotel was clean and tidy with all the facilities you would expect at a very good price, with a good restaurant next door for our evening meal. Breakfast was was adequate and excellent value. Hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
To the uninitiated your room will seem very small but it will be clean, quiet and have plenty of hot water. My back was aching after a long drive but the large bed was firm and comfortable. The basic breakfast was good value but don't be tempted to eat at the adjacent Hippopotamus restaurant which was appauling (see my review).
The hotel has an efficient on-line check in facility which you can use to gain access to your room after 9pm using the supplied code number.
The hotel is easy to find, being just off the motorway
If you want absolute rock bottom prices and dont mind staying in a small cabin style room with tiny bathroom in corner this is ok. You need to be able to sleep with traffic noise as its on a roundabout. If all this is OK, then stay there and the money you save go into Reims and buy Champagne.
