Much of the hotel is excellent - although the initial "welcome" and the hotel staff's offer for services or upgrades at the hotel was way over the top for an upmarket property. "Nice hotel, but hotel activities is just ok"
Overall the hotel is very nice and clean. Upon our arrival, the concierge sounds very professional. However, most of the info she provided was WRONG. 1st she told us on thursday night ALL restaurants will be closed because we will meet at ballroom for a "all together dinner and show". Both the dinner and the show was below average, and we later found […] out there's other restaurant open...we should have left the ballroom and head to the restaurant for dinner on our own. 2nd, she told us there's no water sport provided at the hotel!!! We later found out we can check out the boogie board AND we can go to Aquaworld for a free kayak rental because we are guest of Hyatt Zilara all inclusive guests. Man, if we didn't go there to check for kayaking tour, we wouldn't know. 3rd, on the Hyatt Zilara website, there's scuba diving school for the guest...when we check with the hotel, we were told the school will cost $110/person. Then why they didn't say so on the website instead they make it sounds like complimentary. All the shows were okay...I understand we are in Mexico and supposed to learn their culture...but I guess they can make it more fun and entertaining. Now the room. The insulation was bad...I got woke up 3 times a night by people talking outside. Arrived on Wednesday before and room wasn't ready as check in wasn't until 3:00 so no surprise. We walked around for a while and found ourselves in the main bar. Couldn't get the Bose system to work but wasn't worried about it with everything else to do, the in room hot tub and rain shower were nice and frankly enjoying a glass of wine, sitting in the hot tub, watching TV wasn't on the plans, but on a rainy day it was much easier to swallow with the loss of the sun. The check in was a little strange for Cancun, a nice surprise overall or we just got lucky cause once at the hotel they didn't try to bump us into a upgraded room or sell us trips or anything for that matter. Fact we had to look them up on that end which was a surprise. I assure you once the gate was open they made sure there wasn't someplace else we wanted to go. Left out Monday having felt satisfied, stayed 5 nights and eat at most of the restaurants. All were enough different can’t tell you we left with a particular favorite. Can't say enough about our 1 week stay at the Hyatt Zilara in Cancun. The facilities were fantastic. The pool is large and there are plenty of Cabana's around the pool for your comfort, although if you want to get one right by the pool you'll have to get up early to put a towel down to save it. The beach also has cabanas and plenty of lounge chairs […] for your comfort. There are 4 restaurants that are part of the all-inclusive package and we found three to be excellent and one that we didn't care for mainly because of the menu choices. One thing that made the vacation special was the friendliness of the staff. We have been to Cancun at an all-inclusive resort before and the staff there was excellent, but the staff at the Hyatt Zilara was superb. They were friendly, cordial, and went out of there way to help you in any manner possible. By name I will mention Moises, a drink waiter around the pool, and Victor a server in Pelicano's restaurant who were our favorites. They told me that the room would be ready at noon the next day. The room was not ready until 5:00PM and when I got the room it smelled like turpentine. "Great hotel on the beach but still could improve"
We stayed at this location for 5 nights. Our room was a Premium beach facing suite. Upon arrival the check in person was very nice. Everyone gets greeted with a glass of Sparkling wine. While she was very polite, she did not tell us in detail about the following items: Dress code for evening dining everywhere, Chef's Table requires pants and no open […] toe shoes, events what it includes and making sure we are right on time or early. They did tell us to make reservations to Chef's table in advance but I would tell everyone to make it before they leave for the trip... Seating and times are very limited. Also I would make reservations for Marie Marie and the Asian restaurant on property in advance as well... They try and push you to the late sittings. In our room the jet tub never worked and I asked the first day we were there to look at that and our AC and it was never looked at or fixed. The bed had lumps and dips in it but the sheets were very nice. They also decided to have the outside railings and doors painted on a Friday and Saturday, which I would not have done, so the room smelled like paint for 3 days. Bathroom and Showers are great! Housekeeping is very polite and accommodating to your schedule. I would not do room service unless you really had to as it came most of the time lukewarm and 40 minutes later… I would encourage everyone to visit all the restaurants first and look at their breakfast, lunch and dinner menus… there are a lot of options and worth it for a better Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
