Valide Sultan Konagi - Istanbul

Our 7 day stay at the Valide Sultan Koniga will remain a memorable experience in this unique city. This small 17 room boutique hotel has been renovated to a high standard, but quirkiness abounds. One of the best attributes of the hotel is it’s great location in the Sultanamet area – 1 block from the entrance to Topkapi Palace, 2 blocks from Sultanamet […] square, and 3 blocks to the Tram stop. Views are to the city wall of Topkai and the Bosphurus, and the other is to the Hagia Sofia. Sadly, the archaeological dig between Valide and Hagia Sofia, in my opinion, makes the views to the Bosphurus a more preferred location. Every room is different, but most rooms are small and budget priced accordingly. Still, the rooms are clean and the mattresses are comfortable. Service is excellent, reception staff speak very good English, and their advice is good. I was impressed at how hard the staff works and how dedicated they were to their customers. We especially enjoyed the fourth floor “restaurant” where breakfast is served and 270⁰ views of the Hagia Sofia, Topkapi city wall, and the Bosphurus are always available. Breakfast was plentiful but predictable. If you are staying anywhere in the Sultanamet, bring ear plugs and wear them to bed because you will experience authentic “Call to Prayer” starting very early in the morning. Read more

This is a pretty, polished-wood-covered building a block away from Haigha Sophia and Topkapi Palace. One more block to the tramway and the Blue Mosque. The staff is very friendly and they speak English well. This is a very lovely hotel in a quiet area just a few steps from the Topkapi Palace. Hotel exterior and interior look very well maintained except for the clogging shower drainage that will easily cause a flood in the bathroom if you're not careful. Our room had a recent leak and there were several unresolved issues. The hotel staff tried to take care of a few of the issues but were unable to take care of all. And we weren't able to move rooms for reasons of our own. So I don't know if this was just a temporary or chronic issue. we absolutely loved the location of this hotel. we could walk about 2 blocks to sultanhamet square. our room was overlooking the Ayasofya. and to the left we saw the Blue Mosque. When we arrived, the Wifi didn`t work in the hotel. Because of our protest, they worked hard to solve the problem. On the second day it worked well. There were only 1 german tv-programm on tv. The rest was good!

One of the best hotels I've stayed in for the price. Although the room was small it had a cosy atmosphere, loads of sunshine and was very clean. The upstairs restaurant has a great view of the sea. Location is on the doorstep of the major sights and some good restaurants.

Stayed at the Valide Sultan for two nights in July '11 and was very satisfied. The staff were extremely helpful and kind, with plenty of suggestions for what to do in the Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Nightlife. The hotel itself is very clean. It's an old building so it's not very modern, but the location made up for that. There was free WiFi and Air-Con […] was good which was important in the heat. Meget tæt på (5 min.) Hagia Sophia - Topkapi Palace. Blå Mosque og Basilica Cistern nås inden for 15 min. Mange gode spisesteder med fornuftige priser i området. Fantastisk udsigt fra hotellets morgenmadsrestaurant og receptionspersonalet ofte byde på et glas turkisk te - dejligt!
